Prophet 2 Performance with LR barrel

I traded out my RPB barrel for a LR barrel on my Prophet 2. I don’t shoot slugs and I love to push the limits on pellet velocity. Anyone with LR barrel experience please share. Mine is in .22. Pellets, velocities and accuracy would be nice topics to cover in your response. I have a ton of different .22 pellets to choose from. I was surprised to see 960 fps velocity from the MRD with a reg set to 130 bar. This thing has some serious potential.

I have two RTI Prophet Performance v1s.

I have 3 barrels:
Lothar Walther 510mm .177
RTI LW LR .22 (24 inch)
RTI LW LR .25 (24 inch)

The .22 LR shoots JSB 18.13 at 920fps with the reg at about 95 bar. It shoots 15.89 JSB Hades (and FX Atomics - same pellet) at 960-965 fps with the same tune.

It is outrageously accurate at 45 yards with the Hades at that speed. I’m sure it would continue to be accurate if I pushed it towards 1,000fps.

For kicks I shot some Crosman Premier HP 14.3g with the 95 bar tune. It shot them at 1,025 fps . I shot 2 ten-shot groups with the CPHP at 40 yards. Both groups were under a quarter in size (at 1,025 fps!)

These LR slow 32:1 twist rate barrels seem to be able to keep pellets stable at speeds WAY above the expected norm.

I just purchased a Daystate Wolverine R HP - that has a LW polygonal rifling, slow twist rate barrel.

These barrels are a blast. You will have lots of fun shooting pellets accurately at speeds you didn’t think possible.

Enjoy that RTI LR barrel !

Even with shipping, it’s less than half what RTI is/was asking for them. Mine took 2 weeks to arrive.
Scotty, the RTI Arms shop in Spain is not part of RTI - it is not RTI’s online store. I have purchased from them, they are a good source for all things RTI - but RTI does not own them.

Thanks for that info, that is where Francisco is, correct? How is shipping from Spain?
Shipping time was surprisingly quick - and tracking is provided. Also, as I recall their shipping cost was reasonable.

Yes, Francisco is regarded as an excellent RTI tuner and he seems to be affiliated with the RTI Shop Spain.

I have not had a reg, problem yet, The regulator did have to break in a bit when I 1st got it, It seem the Reg moved around a bit from 130 to 150 bar, Now that I have 500 or so shots its seems to have settled down. I have not touched the hammer spring on my RTI PP II compact , I now have the Reg set at 100 bar shooting 18gr JSB pellets at 920 FPS its super accurate at 48 yards my range limit for now. 510mm CZ 22 caliber barrel

maybe I have been lucky, but my V1 Prophet Performance has had no regulator problems at all and I have put 7000 or so shots through it.
It will creep up a little when it sits overnight, but after the first shot it has been fired, it settles back in and is rock solid consistent.

I just got back from a 5 week job and hope to do some shooting today and maybe a little tinkering. I hope my above comments have not jinxed me.

I've had my PP 1 since last summer and it was upgraded from a regular prophet. The gentleman from whom I bought it from installed the newest (at the time) regulator from Francisco. I've had no creep at all and I've switched out barrels and calibers a couple of times now. I had to modify my hammer spring to work for all calibers, but it is now doing great. I have the lr barrel in now and am shooting with JBS redesigns at 972 fps. I just ordered the RPB barrel in .22 and hopefully it will arrive next week. I'll let everyone know how it compares to the lr.
