New Beeman AR2078-22 problem.

That's really strange. Wiggle and jiggle it. You might spray a little lube around it, too. The lever should rotate downward and to the safe position. It's not one of those that you push side-to-side.

It pushes a plunger up as you rotate it. Here's what the trigger group looks like. The plunger is on the right with a spring around it. The safety lever was removed first.

Congrats on the new gun.

Thanks for the great photo! I may just take the action out and have a closer look.

Glad that you've solved the problem. That's one of my favorite platforms.

If it's anything like the Beeman QB78 that I picked up in '17, you'll need to do a little work to it to realize its true potential. Cleaning up the burrs on the transfer port will help a bunch with accuracy. Let me know if you want to go deeper than that. Mine now shoots into less than a tenth of an inch at ten yards. It started out at just over a half-inch at that distance.

After the weather warms a little I'll get serious and go deeper into shooting and if questions come up I'll let you know and thanks for your help. Charles

I have a more troubling problem with my AR2078 as I only got to shoot it on the first outing. The second time I loaded the 2 CO2 carts it begin to leak fast and couldn't even get one shot off before it had all leaked out. I would like to send it out for repair and would appreciate any suggestions as to whom I might contact? Thanks in advance. Charles

From where is the gas escaping? For example if you can hear it rushing out the muzzle (with the bolt closed / pushed forward), the problem is where the poppet presses against the valve seat. If so, the fiber filter in the valve may already be separating and preventing it from sealing. One of the first things people recommend is to remove it because it will cause trouble, sometimes sooner as opposed to later.

Be advised there are only 3 seals that could possibly be leaking:
1. the poppet, as described above
2. the O-ring on the valve body (size -113)
3. the O-ring on the end cap (also size -113)

The QB platform is one of the easiest to work on. If you have any mechanical aptitude whatsoever, you can fix it yourself.

That's no fun.

I'd really like to see pics of it, Charles. I had a few of the originals that Tim imported and have a current Beeman in .22, but I've never handled one of the in-betweens.

The current Beeman outshoots the .22 that I got from Tim. The o-rings in the recent models are not up to standard, but replacements are cheap and available. Frankly, the machining isnt exactly stellar, but it's a reflection of the price. I've been very entertained with making mine more accurate.

I put a drop of lubee on the tip of the inside cartridge every time I swap them out and it's helped keep them sealed. It's a mix of 10-wt Honda fork oil and 85/90 non-detergent gear oil. 80/20 is the ratio I mix it to.

I found a couple of good videos on tearing them down. They're both worth a look.
