Classic break barrel recommendation please

Well,,I must admit that I skipped most of this,,no offense ,,really,,I'm just to tired and there is just to much. As far as hunting with break barrels go? U can't go wrong with the HW 50S in .177. (YOU just can't)(with the right pellet). Use it for what it's intended. And or have some fun with it if it's not? My HW50S raised my eye-brows and got me grinning. GO FOR IT

Wow. Now I am going to have to read a ton more. You guys did not make this easy :D Thanks for all the input!
“Recommend a gun” threads are pretty common and they can seem a bit chaotic if you are not familiar with spring guns. Tunes, caliber, Vortek, ARH, trajectory, etc………. But the major themes are always pretty consistent, namely to buy an hw95, hw50s, hw30 or D34 if you prefer a break barrel. All quality German guns that you don’t really need to mess with to get many years of shooting enjoyment.

The HW50/95 are very good choices. If you would like to go more to the traditional wooden stock type, the HW35E has checkered Walnut stock and arguably the best build quality of any barrel cocker ever built. Been being made now for some 70 years. Is larger and heavier than the two previously mentioned. Krale is the best place to get one. $425. Their sight still shows the older model but this is mine and this is how they look now. Good luck.

Mine looks just like that, Anschutz rear diopter vs your Weirhauch. I was hoping to get an earlier finger groove stock, but late last year when I contacted Krale the checkered forearm was all they had. I think it would look much better had the pattern been more symmetrical like some of the old classic bolt action sporting rifles.

Okay. I am down to the R9 and the HW35E. The R9 is for $319 with free shipping on airgun-us at the moment. That is just a no brainer right?

I am about to pull the trigger. I wanted .22. I got sooo many pellets in .22 and now that I switched to slugs on the M3 they are just there. I hate that. But I see most of you recommended .17. Is that so to get higher fps? I know .17 is plenty for tree rats and smaller critters.

NOOOOOO!!!

Airgun-US is a scam site!

I think the biggest claim to fame of the .177 is a flatter trajectory and deeper penetration.

If you already have .22 ammo; go that route🤷‍♂️
I like both. Have both. Yea .177 is alloottt faster..my 1100ss pushes a 7.9gr pellet at about 875fps which is about 13fpe. But .22 is carrying more punch. My ruger pushes a 14.3gr pellet about 700 fps for almost 16fpe...not alot more in numbers but remember that's twice as heavy of a projectile 🤪🤙

TY! I just found it out. Did not order. Old enough to know if it is too good to be true... I usually do a site check before I order anyways.
Cool glad you figured it out in time!

The 35E is much better suited for .177. That long barrel, large heavy piston and low power makes that gun pretty difficult to shoot well in 22. That being said I do have one in 22 and I do love that gun.... now. It took quite awhile to get my hold consistent enough to shoot that gun well. A slight deviation in hold or trigger pull will absolutely throw a wild shot, and it can be significant. The 95 would be a better choice if you really must have a 22.

Okay. Old enough to know that there is no point of asking if you won't follow the advice. The ton of .22 pellets will have to be shot by something else. I got the HW35E from Karle in .17. now I need a good ammo recommendation. Thank you for all the advice!

Next I will look for a LPVO and mounts. It will be a Hawke. Just no idea which and what mount. Input on that would be great too. I will post pictures when I get it all together.

The 35E was a great choice. Prepare yourself though. No matter how pretty that gun looks in the pictures you've seen, its even prettier once it hits your hands. You're going to be in love.

All of my 12fpe Weihrauchs (most guns in general) shoot the 8.44gr JSB Exacts and the 8.64gr Field Target Trophies very well so I stock up on both in various head sizes. The FTTs will be a little bit slower but they're also like half the price. If they shoot close to as well as the JSBs in your gun they are a no brainer to stock up on.

Those ok for hunting? I probably will not do a lot of plinking.

Those are basically all I use for hunting. The best hunting pellet is the one that always goes where its supposed to when you pull the trigger. Accuracy is basically all that matters in the sub 12fpe game.

My vote is for a Diana M34
