FX Panther no-hype review and tests

Nice to read this. Here in the Netherlands we shoot a competition at 110yards with airguns and .22lr rimfire. My airgun was overall better than all the .22lr rimfire guns except my own Anschutz was better than my Airgun. In 2022 i shoot my best competition year ever with both guns. My airgun is a hand built Sinner in cal .22 which is in fact .223 and i shoot the RWS rimfire slugs on the airgun. The barrel is a custom made Lothar Walther . My Anschutz is a 1813 supermatch.

A little more perspective.....

FX Panthera 700mm OAL = 49 inches
Taipan Veteran Short OAL = 23.6 inches (x2 47.2 inches)

By your reasoning I could compare my 14 inch HW44 to the 23.6 inch Veteran. Not a perspective but an apples to oranges comparison.

For a real perspective compare a full length rifle to a full length rifle (not a carbine or a bullpup)...

FX Panthera 700mm OAL = 49 inches
Weihrauch HW100S OAL = 44.5 inches
Air Arms S510 OAL = 43.5 inches

I have no problem hunting rabbits with the HW100 in heavy bush, can't see that an extra 4.5 inches being an insurmountable issue.

Never shot a Tiapan Veteran Short, curious - do you have any specs? FPE (.22 caliber)? Shot Count? Effective range?

I wasn't trying to suggest or imply that the Veteran is anywhere near the FPE of the Panthera. Simply using that gun as a baseline for perspective. Seems many of own Veterans so it felt like a good comparison or frame of reference.

The idea of providing an object for perspective is to give our brains something to compare. It's the reason guys throw a pellet tin or an MOA coin or a thumbnail into a photo of a group. Same concept. Of course the tin is bigger than the group size, but it gives our brains a frame of reference.

And an "extra 4.5 inches" is surely not an "insurmountable issue" but even 2 inches longer can sure be felt. Just try swapping around longer or shorter moderator on any of your airguns and you'll see what I mean.

Truth of the matter is that 1 inch = 1 inch or 49 inches = 49 inches = 4ft and 1 inch. For some the 49inches won't be a problem. I saw a Panthera 700mm "in the flesh" and 4ft + is a long gun to behold. Nothing wrong with that, for the potential owner who doesn't mind the length.

@RusBear, you're having some trouble getting the Theos? Which company did you buy it from? I can imagine how shipping a scope into Russia could be.....troublesome in these times.

Good god,..grasping at straws  .......If you really hunted you will know that if you cannot manuver a 49" rifle you also will not get shots past 10 yards .....all this nonsense that only Pups are wotyh for hunting is so Overblown

heck I used to hunt with 68" longbows in thick jungle and still do with 64" now, if I can manuver a 68" bow a 49" gun is child play

He never said pups are the only hunting rigs, he is talking about the measurement of length regardless of rifle style. The majority of people don't want to walk and stock with a long rifle, 4 feet is indeed a long rifle, add a suppressor and get closer to 5 feet. If you like it, awesome then it suits your needs and wants. He's not grasping at anything @Franklink responses are always incredibly well thought out and versed unlike others who end up sounding like " I know you are but what am i? ".

My idea was to show the projectile that was used to shoot that group.
I presumed that every 100 yards benchrest shooter knows that outer diameter of the score zone (4 score) is 131mm, so there is no need to put anything else there for comparison.

I don't have any problems. Just if I want to get something like that I have to do round trip to USA and buy it there.

Sorry, but texts you post here in 90% is called spam (at least in Russia) no any idea or sense. IMHO.

Nikolai, I think you misunderstood why I included your group in that last post I made. I was not being critical or negative about your group relative to the size of the pellet tin. It is a very good group. I was only using your photo as an example that having something in a photo for perspective helps our brains understand the general size of photos we seen on a computer screen, in a relative sense.

Spam? No. "SPAM" carries with it an irrelevance. EVERYTHING that I have posted here has been about the Panthera, and your review of it. I'm primarily talking specs and performance when I post (shot count, overall length, etc. feel free to "fact check" me by going back and reading everything I have posted)....I'm sorry if discussion of those two things causes you discomfort. Typically a running post like this is a place to discuss the gun being showcased in said discussion.

I'm following because the Panthera intrigues me. BUT I'm also following because the psychology behind the FX phenomenon is fascinating, and this discussion has examples of that everyday.

Not much text this time - everything is in the video. 100 yards, .22 40gr slugs, 60 shots (6 groups by 10 shots) one by one without stop, single shutter made video as a prove - 0,97 MOA! It is not a hype - it is a fact. Amazed with FX Panthera stability, never met something like that before!
Great video Nikolay! Those slugs are doing a good job. Did you also try the 34 grain H&N slugs? And if so, what speed do your prefer for best accuracy?

Isn't she beautiful? 1050cc for heavy slugs benchrest shooting 😍 The only thing lacking on this beauty is Element Optics Theos, but I'm sure it's not a problem ☺️

This configuration looks more attractive to my needs and use.

I would just try to have a shorter barrel.

What is important to know is if this rifle will be more accurate than an Impact/Maverick.

If the accuracy is the same than the Impact/Maverick, then the advantage of the Panthera is in the shape for a specific discipline.
