First PCP

I agree with the above for a 1st PCP. Check out FX's Royale 500 (.25) or Boss (.30). These are straight out of the box incredible shooters. The Impact has many bells & whistles & MANY o-rings, all of which means you'll spend hour upon hour just figuring it out instead of shooting. Daystate Huntsman is also a great "just buy & get to shoot" gun. It depends upon your ultimate purpose (hunting, competition, etc) & personal taste. I'd MUCH rather spend my time shooting than endlessly futzing around just TRYING to get a gun doing what i want it to do. But, that's me.

What if I bought a pre-tuned or used one? Whenever I buy tools, sporting goods, etc... I always regret buying low end stuff. I would rather dive in and find someone local to help me out.

You can buy a high end gun that's not complicated/high maintenance. Taipan Veteran, AGT Urugan/Vulcan, Brococks, Daystate, etc.

Yeah, agreed. There's MANY guns out there that are of very good quality.
Even down in the..."lowley"... $1200 to $1600 range.

I also wouldn't start "upgrading"...until I know the gun and exactly...what the "changes" will do to the gun, and actually have a real reason for the change...or is it just to be...cool ?.
Remember...NOT all. changes...are "upgrades", MOST, are just...changes" . !!

A lot of people have bought M3’s for a first gun. This may not be the best place to start for most. That said, don’t be dissuaded from getting what you’d like as you first airgun, just understand that there is a steep learning curve, and a high potential for frustration/hair loss , with such a complex choice.
Welcome, and good luck with whatever you wind up with, it’s a fun journey regardless!

P.s. I almost forgot, prepare yourself for the ensuing hemorrhaging of money…

The FX haters are REAL. lol.

I started with a Benjamin Marauder. Still have it. Still LOVE it. Then went on to Air Venturi Avengers. Have both the rifle and bullpup.
Then moved on to FX. Have Impacts and Wildcats. They are definitely a step up in both function and learning curve.

Highly recommend something like the air venturi avenger as your first. For 400-500 bucks you can get a gun that has adjustable hammer spring and regulator. A LOT of bang for the buck. Use it to learn and get an understanding of 'tuning'. If it's something that you love, then step on up to a Brocock, Daystate, FX, etc.

you want durable? Taipan, AGT Vulcan or Uragan, and the Daystates or Brococks.
I agree with rangur. The FX is not what I consider a durable gun. I have an M3, a Brocock, an Edgun Leshiy, Kalibrgun Cricket. The M3 I feel that I have to baby it a bit. The other are all tough. If durability is one of your requirements then personally I would cross the FX off your list.

I disagree with most of these “fx isnt durable” posts. Banding all fx guns together is unfair. The impact I agree isn’t what I’d consider a durable platform, but the boss, royale, crown, are all very durable and accurate platforms. I wouldn’t consider a dsystate redwolf durable, yet they band all dsystates together as durable. Choose who’s advice you take wisely.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't see a single FX hater in any of the posts previous to yours?

If it's in your budget I would say the Impact is a GREAT first gun. There may be a learning curve but none of it is beyond the ability of most logical folks.
After all, there is not any gun I can think of that has more information online. You can literally watch teardown and reassembly videos of every version out there.
You can absolutely use it out of the box never turning anything but the power wheel. It will also take you as far as you want to go if you want to change, tune, or modify.
There are more o-rings than most but a lot of them rarely create any issue.

By re-engineering the Panthera with a plenum-stabilized barrel, FX clearly acknowledged that the Impact, in longer barreled form, had accuracy/consistency issues that weren’t remedied by any of its previous damping/stiffening/tensioning solutions. Therefore, I would wait for an M4, which will no doubt also have a plenum-stabilized barrel. After trying many of FXs experimental solutions, my M3 is back to compact 22 form, where it is a gem.

Oooof
I spent about 5 years deciding to get a pcp
Then spent about 5 months researching.
Ended up(hah "started out") with a Snowpeak
Still breaking it in
