Upgrade / Modify / Buy New Airgun ?

It’s a good video.

All newcomers need to ask themselves if they’re hunting, plinking for fun, or seriously competing.
If you’re competing 1moa is not going to win.
I’m not talking out my ass here, I’ve owned several top builds or custom stuff. That being said, I have a simple Condor with a stock/lapped barrel and if it’s tethered to a step down in-line reg, Griffin 28 grain .2170” RBT @ 980fps, I’ve held 1/2” 5 shot group at 100 yards no problem, no wind & rested. I’m saying that it can, not bragging about myself. Only reason I have pushed them past 300 was they’re doing great at 100.
I think more than 5% can. Can they with any old airgun & pellets? No.
Also, for newbies sake. Don’t even bother with slugs unless you are safely shooting further than 80 yards & they should be under 1/2” to go further accurately IMHO. Otherwise pellets can do that and more.
If you’re not getting great groups you need to figure out what OD and weight slug your barrels twist & power level like.
I’ve been able to shoot 12oz cans reliably with 25.43 Kings at 880-940 from FX original Smooth Twist. Those were all under 1” at 100.

So upgrade, mod, or buy new? Not easy with so many choices.

I’ve owned a-lot of great airguns. My best advice is ask yourself what you want it for, precisely and then save & buy the best you can afford.

Much thanks James.

How the fck the thumbnail of a Alpha Wolf but a gd dmn air farce gun in the video.

Same was true for his Panthera video, it also had an Air Force in the video while talking about Panther with Panthera thumbnail. It’s all opinion and hypothesis as he does not have the Panthera, not sure if he ever owned an Alpha wolf but if he did one would think he would/should have the Alpha wolf in his video….or just not have a gun in the video at all.

He has some good talking points but without real side by side data it mostly just theorizing/hypothesis. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. His Deltawolf video highlighting deficiencies he saw was pretty good, D and A wolf are basically the same gun so his opinion on the AWolf isn’t all just theory.

Edit: one thing he definitely needs in his video is……..better lighting. 🤣

Hello, if you have ever been conflicted on upgrading your airgun or just buying new this video might help you out.

Totally true, and good point. Especially about "fixing or upgrading" a gun that doesn't need it. Most of us are "tweakers" and love to mess with our guns, always looking for that greener grass on the other side. I am temped also, but some guns are just good as is after the first couple of months of ownership.

My .30 FX Bobcat Mk2 is at least a 5-year-old gun. When I got it, I added a titanium valve seat and a Huma reg. PERIOD. I got this after I shot an exact model gun at EBR 2019, did well, sold it, then regretted it and got another and did the EXACT same "upgrades". I shot it yesterday at 100 yards, shot 5 shot group 0.4 inches c2c, then a 0.75 inch - 5 shot c2c, then a ten-shot group just over MOA because one shot was about 1/2 inch low. The other 9 were well inside MOA.
Why would I change anything??? I feel the same way about my .22 Cricket mini-Carbine. It's perfect as is...

Other guns sometimes need upgrade to get where you want to go. My old(er) .25 Impact X for example. Started as a .30 cal. Changed to .25 cal. Gradually over 18 months (or more) upgraded. Slug A liner, Ernest transfer port, NSA pin probe, Huma HP reg., Power Plenum, Tungsten hammer weight, CF tube over liner, CF barrel stiffener. Now after over 1 1/2 years I have it shooting NSA 43.5 grain at 945 fps, VERY accurate. But it certainly wasn't ready to go as is...

Yea I feel many of these guns with just a bit of work will shoot better than I am capable of. You mentioned grass is always greener on the other side is no doubt that keeps us tinkering. I kind of tamed down on my tinker and also realized that the lure of shooting 300 yards accurately well is just kind of a bit of marketing hype and perspective on how you look at it. Good to see you have so many accurate rifles but like me your probably realized like man I put alot of work in x,y,z rifle and hmmm was it worth it LOL ! Centercut, thanks for chiming in and keeping the conversation focused on the video content....
