PJ's Interview at Shot Show - Skout Epoch

The only downside that I can think of is, just like in the Daystate Red Wolf line, a time after introduction Daystate went to a higher voltage battery and improved electronics. It is a pricey upgrade on an already pricey gun. If you spend the big bucks on this introduced gun, how long will it be before the improvement start rolling in? He even said that they are designing a bipod holding device as not to mount it on the air tank. That may be an add on and no big deal, but the changes I am speaking of are the ones that either can't be done on the introductory model or cost a fortune to incorporate.

I know that to some, this is not an issue, but to others who have to give up eating to fulfill their desire, it may be a minor problem.

I am going to give it some time and see how the gun plays out. If it turns out to be the best in the west, I may sell my Wolverine "R" and Red Wolf for the buy.

In before those who would say if we all were concerned about the above, we would never buy anything.

Shipping now he said.. 30 cal..
.22 a little slow out of the gate but they are for sure getting it right and not shipping a bunch of leakers like some mfg. has done.
Mfg their own bbls with a coating for high lubricity. indexable with no single point like a set screw. Ingenious.
Indexable bbls.
+4 ms to compensate for stiction.. smart..
4 month ( # dependent) Batt life with 20 min charge time.
Magazine is all AL and one can dial the tension. Would like to see a loading of said.
Very exciting concept and technology..

With all the barrels, your looking at potentially 6 for each caliber 3 pellet and 3 slug. The electronic sensor in front of the trigger acting like a timed safety? Hmmm. Outside of those 2 observations, the rest appears quite groundbreaking, teflon coated barrels, substantially lower operating pressure, easy maintenance, external adjust reg without degassing, factory mods and dual direction mags. Very interesting.

Its hasn`t reached the airgunworld yet like it has with longrange powderburners. You build the rifle around that very VLD bullet you intend to use. I have contacted a pellets manufacture that would do .177cal 24grain slugs. I could them the SKoutfolks and say:" Hi Ya`ll here is the ammo I want to use. Fix it!"....:LOL

I intend on getting one as soon as it's available.
Hunter
@hunterroark - I decided to bite the pellet and order a Skout in .177 to play and learn with in my backyard before bumping it up to .25 or .30.
Sadly the magazine I received in .177 is problematic - lots of feed jams and pellet damage. I sent @Skout-airguns an email with pictures and am waiting to hear back. the good news is Darryl at Skout is on the ball and is getting me out some other magazines to try. Kudos to Skout for being quick to address the issue.

How much are you winding the mag when loading?

I tried several things... using both jsb 10.34 and jsb 13.4. One full rotation was insufficient to carry the mag forward after 10 shots. Then i tried 1.5 rotations with a similar experience and even 2 full rotations which created immediate binding.
I'm probably one of just a few people who have a .177 so i expect some growing pains. My magazines machining may just be a tad too big? Dunno.
Hang in there...this is a great platform that like lots of new things, even expensive things has to get tweaked to perfection.
Good news is Skout is on the ball and providing immediate service to help resolve.
