9mm Leshiy 2 Made in the USA?!

Brian was talking, last year, about spinning up production of the Leshiy 2 in the US. I know he was working on getting machinists lined up to produce parts.

They moved production out of Russia to ?Latvia? or maybe ?Estonia? to avoid sanctions. They were considering also moving to the States, but I had not heard any details beyond saying they were to produce some parts. Did not know how far along they were on this.

Very little that is made in Russia now can be sold in Europe, North America or Japan. There's essentially no way to transfer money for these kinds of transactions. That's the nature of the sanctions and I suspect the main rationale for moving production.
So the problem isn't selling it once it's in the States. The problem is the middle-man step of transferring capital between Russia and the States (or most other places).

Btw where did you extrapolate the 9mm from? I didn’t see anything in the video to indicate that but maybe I missed it…?

Interestingly enough, current production "Made in Russia" L2's have the same US patent number printed on the receiver.
Also, the Edgun West website has a nice picture of a "Made in USA" L2 right on the frontpage.

Made in the USA means adding another 300 bucks to an already over priced airgun. I own one and love it, but I think it's over priced, like most high end airguns.

Yeah, I love mine too but don't think I'd have spring for it at current pricing. Almost _glad_ I got the early non-REPR...

It was only a matter of time before the 9mm barrel and mag were available. The leshiy classic had a 9mm barrel available, and it was super fun. Not very powerful though. The leshiy 2 has the ability to be very powerful in stock form.

Before the sanctions kicked-in you could buy .35 cal / 9mm barrels for the Leshiy 2 (ebay), but they were single-shot configurations.
It's possible you might have to modify the cycling mechanism for 9mm as the walls on the magazines would be getting terribly thin at 9mm.

What are you basing this comment on? Crosmans are ridiculously cheap for what it actually takes to make one. Airguns are significantly more difficult and costly to make than powder burners. That doesn't even take into account the amount of engineering and testing it takes. The high end guns even the most popular one sell miniscule quantities compared to any other thing you would buy (sub 8000 units a year). No volume to recoup tooling or setup.
