Essentially 2 of the same gun, with not enough to spit on the difference in performance.
With a couple of caveats.
Purest tuners and gunsmiths of the guns, me incl. marginally prefer the 1st Mk 77 which had a 25mm piston….but of course, no longer available.
It gave it unmatched compression parameters for accuracy.
The newer version still available was exactly the same length as is the 97.
However, the 97 brigade will counter with the built in silencer/ underlever catch unit as being superior, which is true.
In conclusion based on Donkeys years of meddling, the 97k has general better operation because of that unit, but the 77 early version has never been matched for pure performance accuracy.
The MK2 version of the 77 has identical performance to the 97 with the same 26mm cylinder…so i would say 97 here due to the better catch arrangement.
