Are the underlever lengths of the HW77K and HW97K the same?

I am rebuilding an HW77K. However, there is a problem and that is there are no HW77K underlever assembly parts available. There is an HW97K underlever assembly available, but I am unsure whether it fits. It looks like it would…thoughts?

Bagnall and Kirkwood lists a cocking arm for the HW97K (246mm) but doesn't designate it as compatible with the 77K. They do NOT list one for a 77K though.

I can't say for 100%, but I think they are the same.

Chambers Gunspares lists the same part number for a 97K and a 77K underlever assembly, and also show to have a 77K lever in stock. PN: UL072

Pulled these from the Weihrauch website. I assumed you were talking about the arm that you grab to cock it but now realize you may have been referring to the linkage? The linkage appears to be the same (9487) but the arm is listed as a different number (9489 vs 9486)

Thanks. Turns out that the 77K and 97K have the same length underlever. This photo also suggests the same…appreciate the help everyone.

The 77 would definitely not work, I know for sure it's longer than either.

Oops you're right. Just went back to check the Weihrauch site and thats the only one they had listed for the 77. That's probably whats confusing me here. Good catch

Youd think like contact AoA being there the hw repair/ warentee / main usa sales people . One of there service or tuning guys should easily answer you questions then get and sell you the correct part needed ( lol, ya youd think..lol)

Essentially 2 of the same gun, with not enough to spit on the difference in performance.
With a couple of caveats.
Purest tuners and gunsmiths of the guns, me incl. marginally prefer the 1st Mk 77 which had a 25mm piston….but of course, no longer available.
It gave it unmatched compression parameters for accuracy.
The newer version still available was exactly the same length as is the 97.

However, the 97 brigade will counter with the built in silencer/ underlever catch unit as being superior, which is true.
In conclusion based on Donkeys years of meddling, the 97k has general better operation because of that unit, but the 77 early version has never been matched for pure performance accuracy.
The MK2 version of the 77 has identical performance to the 97 with the same 26mm cylinder…so i would say 97 here due to the better catch arrangement.

Best sporting springers of all time.

For the sake of accurate information, the MK2 for much of it's span also had the 25mm cylinder. I have 3, and one was even sold in the UK as it's Hull Cartridge stamped. All mid-80s vintage.

You go off the diagram for the HW77.

In the "77" parts diagram, they list alternate part numbers for the "carbine". Look at the underlever for instance, it has two part numbers depending on which length.

No need to make an entire separate diagram when really only two parts are different between the HW77 and the HW77K.

Why dont you leave him to decide if he dont want any additional info. I was only adding a bit of extra info incase there were other differences he didnt know of…

As regard the swap over to the 26mm cylinder of the 77…you are correct…sure there was transition 77s …
right into the middle period of MK2 production…Maybe because they still had loads of cylinders still in stock that were 25mm…but the final run of 9000 guns were all 26mm…and gone forever.
I know because the company was contacted by Venom to see if they still had any 25mm cylinders they could have for their lazerglide mods…

Ill trim the info for future posts seen as its bit ya balls..
