Air Javelin Pro - New to PCP - Newbie Questions

Hi Folks - I am new to the whole airgun arena. That said, I just bought the Air Javelin Pro to try it out. My biggest question so far is about filling it. I have done a ton of internet searches and tried to read/watch all the info I can. I know there are multiple options for filling these things ranging from buying a tank - to getting it filled at a paintball place - to using handpump. I am leaning towards using the handpump initially due to price and - to be honest - to make sure I like using these before I invest any more money in airguns/airbows.

So my biggest question is can I use the hand pump? I know the technical answer is yes, but I thought I remembered seeing a video that said you needed to use compressed air on the first fill to seat the o-ring. The manual doesn't say anything about this and I wanted to make sure before I tried it.

Secondly, does anyone have a specific model of handpump they recommend? Thanks!

u can use a hand pump but for $200 to $350 u can buy a nice little compressor

Most likely if you cock the gun you will be able to pump from empty,...did the gun come empty ? ? ...that is od.

just get any 50 bucks China pump from Amazon they are better then the big bucks pumps

If its 4500 psi fill hand pumping sucks. If you are mechanical inclined a cheap yong heng is probably your best option . It gets you started anyways... Better options more money....

Thanks for all of the replies everyone! Very informative and I appreciate. Since I don't intend (at least now) to use this often, and it is my first air - anything - I think I'll start with the hand pump. I'm not a small guy and while I know it will suck to pump thatthing up to 4500 psi (or close), as long as I don't run it empty - it shouldn't be bad to refill. I did have one additional question about handpumping. Most say they have water/oil filters. Are they effective? I definitely don't want to ruin the air bow because of corrosion, etc. Thanks again!

You are right about the fact that if you refill after 10-20 isn't thet bad at all.

handpumps actually send less moisture then air compressors,....one of those inline filters is really all you want to get if any.
