Anyone Using A CPU Radiator For Cooling A Yong Heng?

I've been using the typical 5 gallon bucket of water with Water Wetter for cooling my Yong Heng compressor. To keep it cool I have also been adding frozen water bottles to the water when operating. It works well to keep the temperature under control but I have thought about using a computer type radiator with fans instead of frozen water bottles. Is anyone using a setup like this? If so pictures and information on which radiator you are using would be appreciated.

I use a radiator meant for computer equipment on my Yong Heng. I put it together over a year ago so I don't really remember the name of the radiator I used but it might not still be available now anyway. You want a large one. In the summer and with two fans (the pictures only show one but I added another) I still need ice. But not in the fall or winter. Filling my 45 minute SCBA tank takes about 15 minutes and the last time I did it the temperature never got to 50 C. With no ice. But in the summer it might go a bit over 60 even with ice. I also switched to brake line hose after having trouble with the vinyl hose kinking and limiting flow. I use distilled water with water wetter in it. The bucket is not full, maybe 3 gallons.

Thanks JimD

I think I’m doing this. Been on the fence at what compressor to buy.
I have a gx2 works great but really slow as a bottle filler. I just received two 30 min scba tanks from ebay, the gx compressor would be hours filling them from empty.

Looked hard at Alkin, I just don’t care to spend over $4000 for it. All the middle of the road compressors seem to suck.

I’d rather go cheap, rebuildable, throw away if it comes to it. Seems it’s hit or miss with the yong heng, depends if you get a good one. Probably buy from amazon over ebay. Should have a better return policy if issues out of the box.

I’m certainly up to the challenge of keeping it running if I get a good one from the start.

Just make sure it’s an original Yong Heng - there are several that look just like it.

I‘ve been paying attention here on the forums, seems to be a crap shoot in getting a genuine yong heng.
smarketbuy on amazon and happy shopping on ebay have been good to others here on the forum. I’ll stick to one of those sellers.

The ebay seller is local to me but told me I can’t pick it up. I did not ask if I could return it in person if a bad or not as advertised unit.

Probably best protected if you buy on Amazon. They have free returns and a $30 off coupon on this one right now.

I have done it, compuiter radiator with 3 fans attached.

Never gets above 55 degrees topping up my 7 litre bottle from 200-300 bar. But I top up my bottle in 2 times

Are you able to share the details of your radiator setup (parts, brands and possible links) that make up your fan and radiator assembly?

Cheers,

-PJ

Sure, everything was bought from amazon in Germany since im from Europe. I am sure you could find it on aliexpress aswell

Radiator : https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B089WD2ZMS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1
--> the 360mm is the radiator I got. I am sure these are standard dimensions.

Fans: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B09722FQHV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
--> 360mm variant with 3 coolers. They are connected together and can be turned off and on with the little fan control device.

For people from USA:
the fans can be bought here
the radiator can be bought here --> pick 360mm Hose

If you want more cooling than the CPU single row or double row, go with a transmission cooler from Hayden.
They are not much more money than the small CPU units , plus they are much more efficient, especially when you have an external fan blowing on it.

If you really want to keep it cool And eliminate that damn bucket and pump buy this, it works Outstanding .

I agree that this should work aswell(the chiller). But if you count that cost with the purchase of the compressor and filter.. Yeah its gonna be an investment and I think there are tuxing models out there that have the cooling and air reservoir installed aswell if im not wrong.
