Shooter 1721

Question, Have anyone seen Rick have a bad day with any air gun. The man always bring his A game when shooting. Opinions please.

Rick is a nice guy, same as Steve over at AEAC.

What you don't see with Rick's reviews is the substantial amount of time he spends with the gun before taping, and as mentioned above editing is a beautiful thing.

I am NOT bashing Rick in any way, there isNo doubt he is a hellva shot...
It's gotta be tough trying to get all of the reviews done that the manufactures want him to do...

I mention Steve, he does have his vlog channel that goes in depth on how he gets the guns to shoot how they do in the reviews..

I can assure you there is no such thing as gun right of the box shooting hole in hole groups.
It takes hours of tuning and a multitude of pellet testing to get that magic combination...

Peace Guys!

I do videos. I could edit for my best shooting. I don't. Better to keep it real.

I find it amazing how many people that shoot on their videos are ace marksman. Definitely a ton of editing is going on.
Do you have a channel? If so what’s the title? I’m always looking for something new to watch, and am always dreaming of starting my own channel.

He’s a nice guy and a great shot, especially off hand. My only nit is that I’ve never seen him review a gun that wasn’t hole in hole, even from POS guns. Makes me think the guns are buffed, tuned and prepped before he gets them? Or he does it himself? Who knows?
I’ve seen and talked to him (he’s from my home town of Lancaster, PA) at a couple of RMAC events but he’s never made the Finals..

Shooting great groups are completely different than shooting in unpredictable conditions. I've always said, hole in hole groups are just consistent but hitting the bullseye first time and every time is accuracy.

Rick and Keith from whisky68 are both unbelievably good offhand shooters though. Not to discredit Rick at all as he will most likely out shoot me on his worst days but during competition he was up against some of the best shooters in the world.

There is a definite difference between accuracy and persision shooting. In every day offhand i try to shoot high accuracy low persision. It fits closer to a real hunting senerio.

He is a trick shooter, and he is paid; what do you expect? Notice the range when guns are reviewed. You won't usually see 50 yard groups for guns that don't group well past 30 yards. This is not a dis on shooter 1721, but the videos are what they are. I respect the guy, find his content entertaining, and respect what he does.

Have No idea why but there are people who want to believe what they see on video, especially YouTube is real life. It shows real life but only the shiny parts.
I would never dismiss any of the YouTube air gunners as hacks or lacking competence. But do you really want to watch all that goes into making a watchable video? It ain’t as easy as some would suggest.
You have to remember the average viewer’s attention span aint much longer than a 12 year old child. When you have a short window to get a point or message delivered you don’t waste any of it on mundane stuff.

Rick seem to be a OK guy, i would shoot with him.

BTW to create my peashooter channel on youtube i created a G-mail called Peashooter950, cuz around the year 950 was the first time Denmark / Danes was mentioned with that name ( in some old document stored somewhere in Germany CUZ back then we Danes chopped runes into stones and thats about it for us Vikings )

1721,,,, thats pretty young.

He says he does't edit.
Guess it all depends on what your definition of editing is.
Does he cut and paste to present something that never actually happened? Very seriously doubt that happens.
Do they use selective omission and inclusion? Not a doubt in my mind they do. Ever been to the range with a friend and you aren’t shooting? Yeah that kind of boring.

His videos are very entertaining. To me it looks like many shot are taken in one go. If you look at some of his very longrange shots, he can miss 5 times before hitting the target. Guess it depends on what challenge he set for the day. Sometimes it is longrange bench shooting. Othertimes it is offand shooting.
I think he usually mention where he get the guns from. They are probably tuned from the dealer before they arrive for him. I see nothing wrong about that, as he seems to be honest about it.
Steve at AEAC, have said several times he want the gun he reviews as they would normaly be when you buy it in the shop. But he usually spends allot of time setting up the gun before he review them. He is also honest about that.
