Scopes ..

Lol yeah you are definitely correct. I didn’t read that really close. I personally will probably never spend that to shoot 50-75 yards. I don’t think better glass will make me more accurate. Probably would be a much nicer picture and experience though. All depends on personal choice. OP just don’t convince yourself you have to spend that much to be highly effective. I have found in many hobbies it often takes a lot of money to obtain substantially noticeable gains. I would be willing to bet a 250 dollar scope isn’t that much better than a 150 dollar scope.
You definitely don't need better glass for that but it sure is nice especially later in the evening when it starts to get dark. I can usually shoot for a half hour or so longer with some of my better optics which really comes in handy during the winter months after work. Better turrets for the clickers among us is a big plus too.

But I agree. You definitely don't need any of that to just go have fun

I use my guns for target & squirrels. I have nice optics but always looking for upgrades & advice . I’ve always believed the only stupid question is the one not asked .. lol

For a PCP I would like to try a Hawke-(Vantage line) scope with a Hawke (AMX line) reticle. But they don't make it. Thus all my scopes are Hawke AMX. 4# 2-7x32,,1# 3-9x40 and 1# 10x44.The Vantage line-up do have a variety (3) of reticles.I prefer a ( christmas tree design ? ) reticle for an air-rifle.

All five of my PCPs wear a scope that I paid less than $250 for. Most were under $200. I hunt with them set at 6X. I might turn it up some day but have not so far. I find it too time consuming to find my target with the scope turned up. But I also use my rifles to target shoot and plink and more power is nice for those uses. My cheapest is also the lowest powered, a Hawke Vantage 2-7. I like mil dot reticles for hunting. I have a Westhunter 4-16 on my Avenger that has a Christmas tree reticle and the reticle on my Athlon Talos 6-24 is also a bit thin and busy for my tastes but I'm giving it a try at the moment. I have mostly SFP scopes because they tend to be cheaper and the reticle does not get finer when you turn the power down. If I use the mil dots for hold over I know that the amount they cover is different for different powers (but again I hunt at 6X). I think my Primary Arms 4-14 may have been my most expensive scope and it is noticably nicer than my Primary Arms 4-16 but both are nice scopes. The 4-14 is FFP but has a reticle that is thick enough you can see it at 6 or even 4X. My most recent scope purchase was not for hunting, purely target, and is a Vector Sentinel 8-32X. I've only used it to get the gun sighted in with it but the tracking seems to be great for this price range but the glass is not so great at higher magnification - but I expected that at this price range. I think Vector makes some interesting scopes that are noticably small and light in this price range that would worth a look for hunting. All depends on what you want. But I suggest a 4-16 or at most a 6-24, SFP, with a mil dot reticle. Side parallax is much nicer but front works fine. But it needs to go down to 10 yards.

If you like the Bugbuster size.. Why not get think about spending more cash for an infinitely better image. Like the Hawke 2-7x32?

You'll probably find it cheaper than msrp. And I have one on a rimfire. It's got a good image and dials down to very close range. Plus for me it came in moa

If you got money to spend in that arena then I'd recommend the Dedal Stalker. Fixed power but clear as any scope
I have both and like the hawke a little bit better.
