Anyone try out the AirMaks Krait X?

Here is a pic of the brand new never installed reg they sent me. It’s another V2 that I was told should work “good enough”. This is the hard sealing surface that contacts the soft seat. This my friends is a no go. Doomed before installation. Time to work on it.

Holy cow!!! What kind of pig iron rough a$$ poop is that!!! How is that even presentable? No one bother to look at that and a said hold the horses? WOW! Didn’t expect quality to be this bad!

Guys, when I took the bottle off this gun to double reg it, the blued steel bottle adapter looked like someone had crudely taken a bench grinder to it on one end, presumably to make it fit into the gun body. Of course this made it so that exposed, unblued raw steel was staring me in the face as if to say "Hahaha! We sold you a POS for $1700! You fool!!"..... ooooof

If you think Airmaks gives a damn about quality control, you're kidding yourself. Vet's pics here are direct evidence of this. My new video will be up tomorrow. Had to re-render a few times due to hard drive space. I'll post a link here once it's up.

For a 1700 dollar gun, statements like that from multiple people is truly shocking/horrifying!!!

Reg back in the gun and I burned through a ton of pellets trying to get it to settle. Was experiencing some weird things with my velocities so I decided to just go back at it later. Decided to clean the barrel again and take some pictures of the reason why I decided to keep the gun and try to figure it out. I don’t agree with the statement that this gun is a piece of crap. It’s far from it. It’s does have an issue though. Here is the barrel. Nicely done crown, four nice flats for the four places the barrel is clamped to the gun. And finally the transfer port. This gun needs no orings to seal the TP. None on the barrel and none below the TP. One could argue that piece of crap guns need orings on the barrel because well, they are pieces of crap. What’s interesting is this is a big TP. And the porting below it is big. But I can’t get the gun to waste air and get loud. It also doesn’t produce big power for my reg setting so this gives me some things to think about and how I tune it.

Hi I got a Krait since August and it is true that the reg, well the regs have a lot os issues. But once that will be solved, I can asure that the gun is a winner. I am writing from Spain, and a friend of mine has repaired three regs and you should see what he is doing with the Krait L in 22. Mine worked well while the POM in the reg stayed new, but it is too soft for that kind of regs, and it got completely wasted.

Imagine buying a high end, high dollar sports car. It has an awesome spec sheet. Among having a brand new revolutionary engine advertised, it also has a sweet interior, nice rims, attractive body styling, a nice infotainment system, and some other great features. Now you pay the high price for that high end sports car and you expect it to be at the same level of your other high end sports cars.

You drive the car home and instantly the "new revolutionary engine" blows up. So you contact the manufacturer and they say "Oh yeah, we know it has issues" and they provide a V2 "high performance" motor that they tell you will resolve all problems. That motor lasts a few days, and then blows up. You contact the manufacturer AGAIN, and they say "oh yeah we know the V2 motor has issues, but don't worry, we'll provide a V3 motor!"...🤡🤡🤡
So now you install the V3 motor and it instantly blows up. You are now totally justified to say that, despite any other great features of this car, the core component (the motor) is a piece of garbage and therefore so is the car.

You tell the manufacturer to either allow you to return the car for a refund, or to have them provide you with a new car that actually works. You warn them that if they don't make this right, they will rightfully receive a bad review. The manufacturer is now GETTING IRRITATED that YOU'RE IRRITATED at a problem THEY CAUSED.

They refuse to let you return the car and also refuse to provide you one that actually works. So you write a very factual bad review in Car & Driver magazine after 3 bad motors. Anyone would agree that based on the core component failing 3 times (the terrible motor that doesn't work) - this car is a turd. Now since you put out a bad review, the manufacturer has said that he will not honor your warranty, out of spite.

That's where we are at with this gun. Stay away from the Krait, and stay away from Airmaks.

Some of us airgunners are different. When you’ve been in this hobby for a long time you can see features in guns that make them must haves. I see from the post from another dude from Spain in another topic that he bought the gun knowing full well that the reg was junk. It appears myself and others are going to fix or bandaid what we have until Airmaks offers a final long term functioning reg. Then we can enjoy the gun and the reasons why we bought it. This is not the first and it won’t be the last airgun with a production issue. Patience is key with these issues. If you are not a patient guy, just return your gun.

Last evening I got my gun dialed in and left it sit for about 18 hours. First shot today was spot on at 30 yards. First shot velocity was well within the shot strings I was shooting yesterday. So for now I’m going to leave this V2 reg in my gun and keep the bottle reg on my gun to pamper the Krait reg until Airmaks develops a reg that will let me go back to one reg and my 480 bottle. I just hope that when they finalize a reg, we don’t have to scour every inch of social media to find out they fixed the gun. What I’ve learned over the last week or so is that the two sides of the world are not on the same page with what’s going on with possible solutions for this gun.

i believe the point is , is that if FX produced a gun like this and left you floundering you wouldn't look at fx as the great company and would think twice before buying one , new or older , i wouldn't buy any gun from this company after seeing how this has been handled ! dont want a anything from this company , they should have been on this site to apologize and get every ones money back , i see these guys as untrustworthy now. too much time has passed ,

Joe you are absolutely right. In my opinion the only correct thing they can do to deal with this absolute fiasco is to publicly apologize on all platforms to the whole airgun community - that's #1.
#2 is ACTUALLY COME UP WITH A FIX THAT WORKS or OFFER PREPAID RETURN LABELS and FULL REFUNDS to anyone who bought this garbage-rod of a gun. Not only that, they should be providing free technical support to help anyone who needs assistance with installing these regs. (that last part will never happen - have you seen the barebones manual for this gun? It's laughable.)

You're never gonna see them own this epic failure as a responsible, customer-focused company should.

I am completely disgusted with Airmaks as a company after the way they've treated their customers and myself. Extremely shady.

there is no way they couldn't have known what this gun was when they approved them for release , and now they are looking for free r&d from the guys who bought them ,

This has happened a a bunch of times in this industry. If you haven’t owned a ton of guns over the last 10 years, I understand you may not have noticed. Even your beloved FX sold me a train wreck years ago and they didn’t bend over backwards or cater to me. RTI regs, Benjamin barrels, Snowpeak everythings, Kral poppets, the list goes on and on. None of these manufacturers jumped online and made apologies or offered mass refunds. We just need to relax and give them time to fix it. If you don’t have that kind of time, maybe you’re being over run with rats or have a big competition to attend, just get a different gun. This issue is really not that uncommon. That’s why I kept my gun. I’ve done it before on more occasions I can count on one hand.
