Skout airguns

I wonder why it wasn’t at EBR? I can only guess it’s not as far along in development as we are led to believe? Looks like they could easily compete in minor events like an N50 competition anytime, or have until June to show something and compete in a major event like RMAC in 100Y BR and PRS. We’ll see.
I’m pretty sure my own personal troll will soon reply to say how 100Y pellet BR is just luck…. 🤪

I see a lot of old school airgunners (paintballers) so thrilled about this rifle saying its going to completely change the airgun world, if it does for the better thats awesome! However, why haven't Daystate or FX used spool valves instead of hammer and spring ? I think if it was so promising and the techs been out there (in paintball rifles) someone would have done it.

I would imagine that the folks at Skout are intelligent enough to understand the true significance of 1 card benchrest matches at distances beyond the precision capability of a pellet in average conditions. They will likely not attend until they can match the other big manufacturers in numbers so they can have an equal chance….otherwise they would have to be way better than everyone to make it to the top outside of the chance factor. Its smart marketing if you ask me.

Since this is one of the Premier Airgun Forums and Skout has to date put little to no information on the Board except for a couple of pages from some obscure source, It does not inspire me with confidence. Had they gotten some guns into the hands of some of the well known top Shooters like CC, Derrick Wall and a host of other possible and credible AGN members like the BRK Ghost was, I might take them a bit more serious. As the saying goes the BS Stops when the green flag Drops!

I saw a video yesterday, with quite a few notable British airgun people praising the ghost.
I dont need a review of the Skout rifle, but it would be nice if a few of the know guys could put a few rounds thru it, and tell what they think it can amount to be once done.

If it could have been there at EBR for people to just try, set up with something where it could shoot as good as it get right now, that would have made me happy too.

Little things like the feel of the trigger, the feel of cycling it, the feel of inserting a magazine, how it is on the shoulder / cheek ASO

I don’t know, but these are credible guys. They did cause a sea change in the paintball world, so they are not some fly-by-night operation. I actually see nothing wrong or unusual with the radio silence on the gun. If it is not ready then its not ready and why should they make a whole lot of noise about it until they are close to production? I also think that the Joe Polanski review is a good sign. First of all, he has some credibility, and second, the review was a positive one.

I see lots of people commenting and saying they should do this, or do that, or saying that because they didn’t do one thing or the other then the whole thing is a fantasy, or something like that. I do not believe that nor do I think this way. To me, these guys are doing it right so far. I suspect (but of course, i don’t KNOW) that they are continuing the development of the gun and working out the kinks, especially the production ones. I also suspect that we are getting closer, given the recent uptick in information flow.

Of course, only time will tell, but this one has me excited. I’m not one of the guys who put down big bucks in pre-order money, but I will be ready to pull the trigger when they are available.

I like high end airguns, and have dropped a fair bit of money on FX Impacts, Crowns and Wildcats. Semi-Autos got me with the Leshiy 2, Huben K1, and 2 (😳) Steyrs, (Pro-X and Hunting 5SA). Right now the Epoch, Alpha Wolf, and Sidewinder are the only ones that tickle my fancy.

I have to say I am pretty interested in this rifle. Not to say there aren’t a few things I would change based on the pictures we have seen so far, but over all pretty interested. I was able to find a Saudi prince today with a proper blood match that is willing to pay top dollar for a part of my liver, so as soon as this gun hits the shelves I hit the OR table. Just hurry up and get this gun produced I don’t want Prince Ahem to die of liver failure before he can give me money.

My concern at this point is them not reacting to this thread????

Say something, good, bad, or indifferent at this point.

My other concern is i actually sent them an email last week with no response to this point either.

I get it as a small business owner, we are busy, but I sit down every morning after 2 cups of coffee, and a good ball scratching, to answer the previous days emails.
@ BFLOYD- Ball scratching? Answer emails? Bro, what’s your keyboard look like? When you press G does the J appear instead?
Just funning with ya

I support a kickstarter, which by now are just about a full year delayed, that in itself is what it is.
But the fact they do not communicate other than the monthly delayed again MSG are worrying, not least since i have money in this project.

I would prefer frequent updates, even if they are not really that relevant, but just something more than what we get which are next to nothing

Actually if it was me in a similar situation, i think i would put CCTV cameras up in the office and stream live from them, so people can see we are running here to get things done.
BUT ! it do seem like i am much more into being a man of his words / a man on integrity than much of the rest of the world are.
I mean just that is one of the major reasons why the election here next week, i can not participate in it, as there are no single person or party i can vote for with a strait face.
And i just HATE i can not be a part of the democracy.

Hey Floyd, must be something wrong with the e-mails. Check your spam or junk mail dated September 28th at 10:30 am. Hope this helps.~Darryl

There was never any real question about competing in 2022. As indicated in the Shot Show 2022 video, the preproduction model was not scheduled for testing until September. Personally I was quite surprised when Skout was actually able to meet that projection. If all continues to go as planned, you can be sure that the Epoch will be in the mix in 2023.

You've overlooked the fact that the valve design is currently, and has been patented for many years. I' quiet sure if any major manufacturer could have used it before , they would certainly have done so. As I understand it, the tech (the functional design as it stands) must be licensed by Adam Gardener or one of his subsidiary companies. If I'm correct (and of course I am) this explains why it has remained exclusive. While there have been hammerless air rifles in the past, none have employed this particular valve design. I'm confident that you will see the design licensing and it's subsequent use by other manufacturers in the future.
