Fix bottle removal drains whole system

No not normal, there's a check valve in the bottle that isn't sealing. Taking it apart and cleaning it would probably fix it. Need to get a spanner wrench or something to remove the valve from the bottle to get at where you'd take it apart. I got lucky and just some wood blocks in a vise was enough to just grab the valve and spin the bottle off of it. (They used loctite at factory)

Glem is right if by system you mean the bottle. Now if your whole gun drains after you twist off the bottle it’s because you took the bottle off after you were below your regulators set point.
I experienced for the first time what Vetmx has said. I had never had the air system in the gun dump inadvertently before. But I had never pulled the bottle off when it was below the set regulator pressure before either.

When you remove the bottle, if the pressure is above the reg set point, the air in the plenum will remain under pressure. If the rifle is below the set point, then yes, no air will remain in the rifle.

What’s I’ve noticed on my Maverick, is the bottle pressure is lower than the reg set point it’ll dump the air in the gun wheb the bottle removed.
Strangely, if the gun pressure by itself is set at 100b and add the bottle in which say 70b, nothing happen when removing it.

As previously stated, the bottle leaking down after removal would indicate an issue with the valve. I had this issue with my Impact and discovered a small piece of thread lock, or sealant material in the valve upon disassembly.

Same thing happened to my fx m3 I just sprayed some silicon spray in the valve housing and it seemed to fix it.

That clears it up, in your original post you said "the whole system" which includes the bottle. Caused some confusion. Glad it seems to be sorted.
