Hey Dan - About the same top scores as when you were shooting, though Hunter Division has gotten bigger and often shoot high match scores. Even at National Matches. Scott Schneider has done it twice in Hunter division. At the 2017 and 2021 AAFTA Nationals.
Scores depend on the course. I try to set a course so that the top shooters can hit 90% if winds are light. So 90%+ on easier courses. More like 70% for a match like the recent Nevada State match.

If a percentile number was any indicator ... talking averages, most of the seasoned and wind educated shooters are more times than not shooting at 80-90% give or take.
At our monthly club matches ( SVFTC ) we generally run @ 28-32 troyer. In this way many of our shooters can somewhat weigh there progress by looking at there % or total shots hit to taken over a season or year to year compared.
Our average shooters run from 30 to 60% with the mid field @ 50 to 70%, the best shooters generally at or above 80% of course pending winds on any given day.

Maybe rifles get better, more accurate, more dependable? Maybe not. What really matters though is how much one shoots and practices. Especially the forced positions and shooting in the wind. I think that if you look at the good scores in any give match, those shooters will have spent a considerable amount of time practicing the forced positions and shooting in/reading the wind.

It's not about the latest and greatest equipment... use what you were using when you took your break from FT
I'm using a 20 year old technology USFT and doing just fine.
Practice in as strong a wind as you can find. Set up your rig for offhand as the first fit, then for the sitting shots.. practice offhand/kneeling as much as possible. Enjoy the process of learning! Don't give up and have low expectation, so if you do well you can feel good about continuing the learning process.
Enjoy the friendship that abounds, and make that the biggest reason to continue..
