Looking for a scope for my L2 with specific requirements

I'm looking for a light weight (small) scope for my L2. Something that I can use at short range with 1x to 2x for quick target acquisition yet something that can be fairly quickly changed to medium strength for 100 yard shots. I currently use an open reflex red dot sight which functions adequate for under 35 yards but my older eyes really struggle if the target moves to 50 yards and beyond. Donnie's excellent review of the Hawke Frontier LPVO seems tempting but the fixed parallax at 100 yards would surely limits its performance at close range (something he does not comment on)? I thought about mounting my reflex on top of a scope but I'm really trying to keep the bulk down. I see March makes some nice LPVO scopes with adjustable parallax but they are simply out of my price range. I've considered combining a magnifier with my current red dot but really don't want the bulk.

1x to 6x or 8x would be ideal. 1x – 3x to 4x would probably be acceptable. I would also like a red dot tactical type reticle. Are there LPVO, prism (or ?) scopes out there that match my requirements that are affordable $500 - $1K?
 
The Athlon Argos BTR Gen2 1-8x24 supposedly has parallax fixed at 50 yards. I got one in a package deal and set it on a shelf for over a year but finally mounted it and am liking it. On low power I'm not having trouble with focus issues at close range. The big strike against this scope for me and possibly for you on an L2 is that the eye relief seems pretty short and I have to hang it fairly well over the hinge point on a Leshiy Classic. Not ideal for pack use. Also, I have not tried a fresh battery but the daytime illumination could be better. But it is compact and light.

The Athlon Helos 1-4.5x24 has side focus and I think a better airgun reticle than the above mentioned Argos but also has short eye relief. I've never used one.

I have two of the Styrka 1-6x24's with side focus. But they only have a duplex reticle and I prefer a horseshoe for fast target acquisition. Mine are both the illuminated model that I picked up for around $200 each. They are discontinued and I think the price as gone up a bit on the remaining stock. Not sure if there are any illuminated left.

For prisms, I've seen YouTube videos where people seem to have the new Primary Arms SLX 3x mounted fairly well forward during use. But I'm skeptical that one would be comfortable on a Leshiy or Leshiy 2. But these also have fixed parallax which may start to be a problem at 3x and close distances.

White Oak Armament makes a 1-4.5x24 scope with side focus but it's over your budget and is heavy if I remember correctly.

I've been using a Vector Veyron 3-12 and really like it a lot. I generally go after chipmunks or squirrels offhand so 6x is a good spot. The new Veyron have an illuminated reticle now too which is the one miss with mine. An IR Veyron would likely be very nice.

The trouble with most of the LPVO is they do not close focus and at least for me, everything I do is <50yds on small targets.

Hawke offers a Vantage in 2-7 and an Airmax in 2-7, both well within your budget. Parallax adjustment is by twisting the big end of the scope which is not ideal but the Vantage on my Prod works great. The Vantage has a simple mil dot recticle while the airmax has a more complicated "airgun" recticle. I think both are under 1 lb. I have higher powered scope on my other airguns but I shoot groups just as small with the 2-7 (set on 7X) at backyard distances. I turn the big ones down to 6X for hunting - too hard to find the target with a lot of magnification. I've checked POI at 2X and it was correct but I rarely shoot it there.

I believe all of the SFP & FFP 3-12x44 scopes from Westhunter, Vector, Discovery & USO are the same scope. 

Does the Vector Veyron have an illuminated FFP? SFP?

I thought only the Discovery HD & Westhunter were illuminated. 

I have the Vector FFP. Great scope for the price but the reticle is no good for me below 6x.

i agree, the reticle almost disappears at 3x. this is okay if you are just spotting targets, but it would be very difficult to use under certain conditions.

Burris RT-6 combo maybe? 1-6 x24 with red dot on top. About $550 and is a good quality scope with a no questions asked warranty.

I have had a few compact scopes on my L2 but have been unhappy with the field of view. I now have the immersive Optics 14X50 scope on it and am liking it the more I use it. They have a few power levels to pick from and the lower powers have more field of view and longer eye relief so I’m sure you would find one that fits your need. They all have illumination too. The only down side is they must mount farther back than normal scopes which will have an issue for some who want to fold their guns for storage. Not an issue for me as I break down the L2 in two pieces to pack in my backpack/storage case. Depending on which model you get you will need an extender mount to get the scope back far enough. I found one on Amazon for around $15.00. I use the lower 1/2” high model. I also have a Halo sun red dot sight mounted on a 45 degree picatinny mount forward of the scope sighted in for 20 yards and under.
