Compact 0.30 Platform at > 80 FPE

Take a look at the .30 cal AEAs, both the Challenger bullpup and the extremely compact HP Max. The Challenger will put out 120FPE and the HP Max 90-100FPE depending on slug/pellet weight. They won’t be as quality as your FXs, but the price point is very agreeable and they are certainly accurate enough inside 50yds for crow and up. Plus with your budget, you’ll have a lot of wiggle room to augment them (replacing the barrel and spring, for example) to get them running even better, and will have enough cash left over for a nice optic or a night (or three) on the town.
This is indeed an option! Thx MLE

Scope cap cover pops off

I use o-rings to fill the slot. Either 3/32 or 1/8 inch (I forgot the diameter, but simple enough to measure). I try to get them fairly tight to keep the eyepiece from rotating. Kinda like killing two birds with one pellet :ROFLMAO:, makes for more holding strength for the cover and keeps the eyepiece from moving. I've used both round and square in 1/8" diameter on several scope that work really well. Keep meaning to get some 3/32" square, they seem to be a better fit for most of my scopes.

Idea for an "Ultimate PCP Competition"

Hey folks. I'm an airgun enthusiast who has very little shooting experience, and an airgun forum enthusiast who has logged onto AGN every day for three and a half years. I've read with interest stories regarding airgun competitions and which brand of rifle was used by those that took the top spots. Often stated is the question of whether it was the "arrow or the Indian." This got me to wondering how those variables could be accounted for in a competition between top shooters. Please forgive my naivete and let me know if you think my idea has any merit at all. Here goes. I propose a competion of five to 10 competitors shooting rifles at 100 yards, each using the same rifle. Shooters to be chosen from among the high finishers at current large events. Invite all manufacturers to submit one stock rifle, tuned by someone in their company to shoot the projectile of their choice. Maybe have the same scope on each rifle, and also let each manufacturer glean/sort enough projectiles to fully cover sight-ins and competion shooting. Allow each shooter enough time/shots to familiarize themselves with the platform, then on to competition shooting. Repeat for each brand of rifle. I'm sure there are a host of reasons that this idea won't work, but I'm curious what this community thinks. How to score such an event is way above my pay grade, but I would be interested to see who would prevail and which rifle posted the overall highest score. Maybe AGN could sponsor? Also, any attempts to name such a shooting event the Balver Cup are pure conjecture. :p
Hello @balver

I like your idea (y) . I do not think that "paid experts / sponsored shooter / factory expert" needs to be the person chosen to be the "Shooters" for you competition. In fact some "Top Shooters" from this Forum, to me, would be the better choice, and here is why: the Shooters that make up this Forum ( and other Forums ) represents the vast majority that purchase and shoot the various "Brands / Models" of PCP air rifles.

Break your competition into two events:
1) Have a "shoot off" among Forum members and pick the Top Ten with 2 to 4 "extras" for back up.
2) Let the Top Ten then compete as you have outlined.

"Average Airrifle Joe" member of the Forum would then have a pretty good idea of each Brand and Model of air rifle that was tested as to which one he would most likely purchase.

Good luck,
ThomasT

FX  Vltor side mounted bipod on Panthera Hunter compact

I finally got in the side rail adapter for my little .22 Panthera Compact and once I sorted out an issue of incorrect screws sent out with it, I attached the Vltor MP-1 side mounted bipod.
Very solid. Very well built. They adjust in 90 degree increments in any direction and will extend (three settings for height).

Amazing job! I was looking to do the same but you’re the first person on in the internet that I found doing this! Finally found someone! :)))

Yong Heng trip breaker question

As others, stated likely a shared circuit with load on it, or possibly a bad breaker. Is the breaker AFCI or GFCI type? They don’t like motor loads. 15A/20A should be plenty capacity for all that, distance from panel is not an issue with 12AWG wire for quite some distance, especially in the typical residential size/layout.

FX  FX Panthera - What does this screw do

@Chukar60 Funny but true. I've learn valuable lessons similarly.

@Precision Quest Air It's funny, but trust me I've been there. Were you able to retrieve the grub screw?
Yeah, I got the grub screw out. But I should adjust it down as it is too loose now and the bolt handle does close under gravity when the barrel is in the downward position. Gotta pull the scope now...

Camo Zeus stock

It would have been easier just to stripe it without masking it off, the sharp lines look kind of odd. I've never done anything like this before though, so it was a learning experience.
It looks good, but I agree with you that not masking would have been better. Recently Max115 (can't remember exactly, but he is a pester) went sort of the opposite direction and it looks to me like a combination of your and his approach would work well.

Then again, WTH do I know!

Great work! Looks good!

All my best!

Accidental Hunter

I had a used red ryder back in the 80's my grandpa bought me. It was fairly powerful. These PNW mice are tough. I hit both with my most powerful P17 at maybe 20 feet and both barely died. Most of the cats I had were "watchers," good you have one that helps
I have five gandkids and six RedRyders in that corner.
I've often thought about building an old sheriff style gun rack for them, with a Daisy double barrel on the right hand side. 👍

Co2 paintball tanks for PCP

CO2 is much lower pressure than the typical PCP. Here is what Google’s AI has to say about it:

CO2 tanks are rated to a much lower pressure than compressed air tanks. If you fill a CO2 tank with HPA to the CO2 tank's limit of 850psi, you won't even have 1 hopper's worth of propellant. If you attempt to fill a C02 tank to the pressure 3000psi or 4500 psi HPA tanks are filled you will likely be severely injured.
Ohhhh ok. Thanks.

Web App for Printing Oring Size Charts

As far as showing the image on a device such as a phone, I'm not sure it's a good idea browsers are offering different methods of retrieving screen DPI and some are flat out broken. I dived into this years ago on a web development and hit a brick wall. As of 2023 it's really no better.
My point exactly! Sorry if I my original post was not clear.

Accessories  SOLD Big Bang Pellet Trap

Aluminum with steel backing plate pellet trap, aka "Big Bang Pellet Trap". Fabricated by a forum member's friend, and sold a bunch to forum members here.

I've got too many other hobbies and stuff going on so am getting out of air gunning, for now anyway, and need to sell this pellet trap.

I've only shot a few tins of pellets at it, and had it set up with 3/4" horse stall mat fastened to the front (see pic), and it worked great to drop the velocity. There's no damage at all to the steel backing plate.

Selling for $135 shipped, CONUS, PayPal
