Laminated stock polishing

I have tried Meguiar's ultimate polish and the gold wax but it didn't make much of a difference.
Try Mequiars PLASTX (plastic polish) for removal of fine scratches on high gloss surfaces. Been using it for years on my pepper laminate stock on my FX Boss & recommended it here before. VERY VERY fine abrasive that leaves no swirls, only shine.

Hatsan Jet 2. Complete POS.

I just got a chance to shoot this yesterday and a little bit today and I’ve got to say I am blown away by what a complete and utter turd it is.

Where to start? Well the muzzle threads don’t align with the bore for one. It doesn’t matter what moderator I put on it, I get baffle strikes with them all and approximately 4” groups at 10 yards. And it’s not just a matter of using a slightly oversized mod. I’m already using a .30 mod on a .22 gun. It doesn’t end there though. Even if it weren’t clipping pellets the front and rear optics rails are approximately 1/16” out of alignment with each other. So when you mount a scope on it it will always shoot way too low even with the elevation maxed out. The front rails not a real picatinny rail either and the part that is supposed to accept picatinny mounts is very short. It may appear to run the full length, but most of that is actually an 11mm dovetail with picatinny style slots cut in it.

It’s a long, long way from being backyard friendly as well. Without a moderator I’d compare it to a .22lr shooting subsonic ammo. The pistol grip is way too small for my hand as well. My pinky overhangs the bottom of the grip and the deepset finger grooves in no way fit my fingers. Now I am 6’1” and stocky so take that for what it’s worth, but I would guess that if you’re at all bigger than average you probably won’t find the grip fits you either.

From what I can tell, it doesn’t have a shot curve to it, (well maybe if you gassed it up to 300 bar). When you fill it up to its max pressure it just loses a little velocity with every shot. I decided initially that given its small size and air volume I’d consider its shot curve to be good over a 50 fps spread. As it turns out that was 17 shots. And I could actually live with that. There may not be a decent shot curve, but the velocities were reasonably consistent for the first 14 shots or two magazines worth and my gx compressor fills it back up in about the same time it takes to reload the magazines.

All in all just an extremely disappointing gun and one I would strongly advise everyone to avoid. I got mine at the midway clearance price of $190 after tax, but honestly I wouldn’t advise you to buy it unless it was under $100 and you were buying it as a project that you knew you would have to fix straight out of the box.
My jet2 works perfectly, as does my Notos. Except the Notos will slowly leak down pressure

sometimes if the safety won't disengage its because you didn't cock it all the way, I did that a couple times. try pushing the bolt handle forward a bit more and see how that goes. but as far as the slot not being numbered....yeah I don't know how that would have happened, I would definitely send it in for repairs at least. they are great guns, but that power wheel is part of the Airforce charm.
Waiting on my new replacement those guys took care of me right away no questions asked.

Looking for career change into the airgunning industry

I work in the firearms industry which started off as a hobby for me. I got into airguns because now shooting guns just feels like work. Lesson learned. Don’t turn your hobbies into jobs.
I did the same thing as a mechanic/welder. Now, I hate having to work on cars, and my eyes and hands are beat up from welding and wrenching.

Looking for airgun community near Bakersfield CA

There is a group of air gunners that get together. And shoot on the fourth Sunday of every month in a 22 NLR match at 5 dogs shooting range. Usually in the morning, it is comprised of a fifty-fifty mix of air gun shooters and 22 rimfire shooters as far as the air compressor I think there is a Authorized dealer or a warranty station in Texas. You should be able to search under your compressor's name and pull the thread up of the gentleman that runs it. I hope this helps.

.

This morning the air is fairly still but the humidity is higher than before. The Rifle Round pellets behave much deferent than the previous shooting sessions, it is as if it rides on the dense air and don't drop as fast. ((Model aeroplanes also sits better in the air in the same conditions and glide much further with the same trimmings.) At best the groups are not as tight as the H&N and H&N are much more consistent in different conditions than the Rifle pellets.

Does Crosman pellets behave the same?
A minor point, but humid air is less dense than dry air, so the drag force will be slightly less as a result.

FX  Anyone have the Bullet Central tensioner/Shroud Specs?

You can use the huma tensioner, but you will have to cut a spacer. I would just get a long one from bc and cut my own to fit. I don't know if Huma sells the rail seperate or not.

One thing I can say is the bc shroud and tensioner setup quieted the bark down considerably at the power levels I am running. Prior to the install it had the loud crack of a rifle. Now it is more of a loud woosh of air. I don't have a decibal meter, but it was night and day difference for me Also, the coyotes don't seem as jumpy when it goes off and boy does it flatten them.

One Piece vs Two Piece...the tale of the tape.

In my gun club I am randomly shooting @ four different ranges (50 to 100 meter distances) and I have an issue with constantly changing and levelling between the bench heights in relation to target. Some steel welded with wood plates and some wood made, the levelling all different.
Definitely not a fan of bipods and bags.
For my best convenience I am using my own diy one piece rest. But working now on minimizing the luggage I have to drag with me at every visit.
These only the larger packs and there are more things better not to forget at home... can fit my wife's SUV trunk only ;)

My new rear rest is in the mail shall arrive during the week, that will replace the big box (one-piece-rest) at the left side...
