Other  Girardoni (wind rifle) circa 1779

Repeating firearms were of course eventually rulers of the roost, but that's not the whole truth.

Pump-up airguns were a popular alternative hunting weapon to wealthy woodsmen, especially in the later 1700's. There were many, many manufacturers besides Girardoni, with myriad calibers and power levels. They didn't always have a butt reservoir like the Girardoni, but a separate air tank / reservoir.

There are accounts from the early 1800's where people who used to be enthusiastic airgun hunters said how the potentially lethal pump-up mishaps were the very reason they stopped using airguns.

One period account tells of a servant who had the metal reservoir of an airgun blast through his torso while pumping it up, killing him instantly. Other times, the reservoir exploded from over-pumping or a manufacturing defect, killing people via shrapnel.

This was in the 1700's, long before repeating firearms.
I agree there... but you'll find the big bore antiques pretty much went away when repeating firearms came about. Mid 1800's

Early 1800's and prior, I think the airgun was a far superior item to have. Especially during the flintlock Era. You can't really shoot a powder gun back then often without fouling quick or going to smaller and smaller shot.

It's as if the antiques were coming into their prime to just be crushed by firearms.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Walther Reign .22 caliber For Sale

For Sale: Nearly new German-made Walther Reign M1 PCP bullpup in .22 caliber.
Price: $425 or best offer, buyer pays shipping if needed.

I purchased this brand new a year ago from Krale. I've barely shot 100 pellets through it, so it's nearly new and in mint condition (there are no scratches or nicks anywhere on the rifle). The only reason I'm selling is because I've come to realize the bullpup design is not for me. Please note that this is not the Umarex USA UXT version, and has the 1/4 x 20 adapter on the end of the barrel for a moderator.

Mine came with an 11mm dovetail rail, but I replaced it with an OEM Picatinny rail that I also purchased from Krale. I'm selling the rifle with both rails, TWO 10 round .22 caliber magazines, the fill probe, and the Allen wrenches that came with the gun. I also have several spare fill probe o-rings that are included along with the original box. The photos show the rifle with a scope and bipod, which are NOT included in the sale. (One photo shows the technical specs from the owner manual).

I’ve shot both 18.13 grain JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy and 14.3 grain Crosman Premier pellets with this rifle and it shoots both accurately out to 40 yards (especially the JSBs). I have not choreographed the shots. The rifle is rated at maximum power of 50 Joules (approx 37 ft lbs). Umarex says this particular rifle has an internal, non- adjustable regulator.

I'd prefer a local sale if possible (New York State Hudson Valley region near Poughkeepsie), but will ship anywhere in the US that's legal (buyer to pay shipping).

PM me with any questions. Thanks!
Mike

Vulcan 3 700m 25 or 30

I have a @zx10wall tuned 25 Uragan and a V3 700 in 30. I don't use either for birds at my permissions unless I'm going after larger game. Pigeons, starlings, and other pest birds are done in with both my 177 and 22!

I don't think pigeon or starling with feel the difference between a 22, 25 or 30. I shoot at my farm. Once in a while I might see a coyote 100 yards or so. I want a air rifle that could do the job

Optics  SOLD BSA Edge 2-7x32 pistol scope SALE PENDING

Very much like new, has only been on a Co2 pistol - although rated for big bores. No ring marks, although you can tell it has been mounted. I highlighted only blemish I can find. (which your ring would cover anyway. Technically a fixed parallax scope, (but we know better than that) parallax is easily finger adjustable by removing outer objective ring and adjusting inner ring. (see pic). I currently have it adjusted to 11 yards for indoor pistol shooting. Not bad glass for a cheap scope either.
$60 with free, yes - FREE shipping! Or make me a reasonable offer. (everybody knows I’m easy anyway)

BRK Ghost World Record Edition

I am curious if the barrel tensioner added to the HP set up would add any accuracy? Anyone know if there available as an add on?
I used the barrel tension on the three different barrels ( 17”, 23”, 28” ) and it was an added benefit/value all the way 🙏🏻
