Scope mounting suggestions for AA S510 XS and Hawke Airmax 30 with 56 mm Objective

I have an Air Arms S510 XS Ultimate Sporter with a Hawke Airmax 30 with a 56 mm objective. Currently it is mounted with Sport Match adjustable rings. There is approx. 0.90 in. clearance between the top of the receiver and the bottom of the 30 mm scope tube, which I find a bit excessive. I would like to drop down about 0.25 inches which would still afford adequate clearance between the objective and barrel and adequate clearance for the magazine. Does anyone have a suggested solution.

Benjamin  Benjamin Marauder Expectations

Joe,
Yes I've been at the R&D / Tuning game on AG's well north of a decade now. Was the one who R&D'ed the use of light Weight hammers used with Regulation in marauders @ 12 years ago. Am I the Marauder Pro  No self claiming of such, tho said, I am a Professional under the description being paid for doing that skill of Air Gun Modifications etc for hire ...

All my SSG experience which is extensive, has all occurred working with REGULATED PCP's. Your results in a Non Regged PCP I'm honestly not sure ?

Crosman  Crosman 2260 IN STOCK??

Nice, I'll keep a lookout.

I'd like to find a 1359 barrel to build a .25 icon because I have another one in the box here. It's either that or shorten and thread the tube and chop the stock up to make an Icon pistol in .22. Essentially a 2nd gen PRod of sorts but likely more power potential. The barrel on it has some weird flaws so it would need cut down and recrowned to be useful to me anyway. The one pictured has a great barrel and totally different machining on the crown. Built one month apart.

Called Beeman about the barrel but she said call back Monday when the tech gets back from shotshow.
I've seen a few posts about the icon in 22 having barrel issues. They used a piloted crowning tool on them for some reason. My original 2028 pistol barrel wouldn't shoot straight for nothing, so I swapped it out for my kral np01 barrel and it's stacking multiple pellets at 35 all day now. Just had to shim the barrel with 2 sleeves of soda can.

As for my 1358 barrel, it's pretty accurate too. Got lucky I guess. I got the gun on the classifieds here and it had been cut up some, so I reworked it to a pump action, but it had POI problems. Now it's become an organ donor and also being resurrected as a side lever rifle.

Air Venturi  New .22 Avenge-X initial shot string

I ran a second string of 26 shots today after checking to see where the hammer spring was set from the factory. It was only one turn in. Chrono results were very similar to my first string. I also used the opportunity to zero in my scope at around 35 yards after removing it to take with me to get some scope caps. Two groups- one with the 16 round mag, the other (splatterburst target) with the 8 round mag - both an inch or less. The outliers on the paper target were before adjusting the turrets. Really liking this gun!

Are mags interchangeable

While all these air rifles have close dimensional geometry, it is not advisable to use them across multiple PCP's. Here is why. Each one of these air rifles has a slightly different barrel to mag well relationship and while a malleable material will be able to fit any one of them, if all of them are allowed to impart their tolerance differences to the same magazine, it will eventually fit most loosely, and only one properly. Our mags are designed to fit each PCP for their unique and slightly different geometries. So it has always been my advice to treat plastic/polymer magazines as a dedicated extension of the PCP it is broken into.

Crosman  Crosman 157 resealed but it leaks -- Pls Help

That’s about the shot count you’re going to get give or take. If you installed a new hammer spring this is probably the reason why and it’s holding the valve open slightly because of the low pressure inside. The gun seems perfectly fine and just needs to be shot a bit so the hammer spring settles down.

Pest Control Camera $25

Many of you are like me and use your air rifle for home pest control.

I recently updated my camera and want to share it with you.

I have a neighbor with hunting dogs in a kennel that always has dog food on the ground, so I get rats and mice. Two winters ago they found their way in my attic during a cold spell.

Since then I have been using a camera to monitor the area. I was using a cheap home camera connected to a usb battery pack I have a safe shooting location at a bird feeder I put on my fence near the kennels. The fence is re enforces with multiple boards of wood, and there is an oak tree behind that. If its in the feeder, its a safe shot.

This new camera is indoor/outdoor. It is rechargeable with an internal battery. I/O on the bottom includes a slot for microSD, and it is protected with a rubber insert.
I have it set up for motion detection and it will record that activity and alert silently on my phone. It also keeps a log so you can turn that off and just check it to see what time you can expect your pests. It's cheaper than most trail cams i have seen and pretty small in size.

I run an IR flood light in my backyard, so I taped over the IR illuminator in the unit. I haven't found in the setting an off switch for it.

I have been running it 24/7 for the last two days and it is still at 87% battery. I will update with how long it last on a charge.

I bought it for 25 bucks, the price is now 30. Just watch, I am sure it will go back down.

This is the camera I am using

The light I use in my yard mounted on my house 18 yards from the feeder

Nice idea.
