Hatsan  Mod 65 didn't like my mod

Sounds like a broken spring (very tiny) in the trigger. I’ve had a few of these break. Usually breaks at the beginning hoop. I just bend another hoop and it’s good to go. If you don’t know triggers then watch a couple videos to see it disassembled and reassembled. YouTube. You need to make a ghost pin to reassemble the trigger. My friend brought me his 95 that sat for a few years for the same reason. 10 minutes later it was back to shooting. Not complicated when you’ve done it a few times.

ᗝ BC Test of .25cal Polymag

Good job checking for yourself. (y)
Outstanding presentation as always.
Large velocity drop for 55 yards. approx. 140 FPS
Your velocity ES at 50 yards is still about the same. That's good.
140 FPS loss shows how much BC does matter for down range velocity.
You said: "➠ If a HP has a low BC, it will loose velocity rapidly and reach its
non-expansion threshold very close to the muzzle — reducing the HP pellet to a short range projectile. "

Not necessarily apples to apples here.
But, a higher BC does make a big difference in velocity at POI
just as you pointed out.

Recently tested a .25 cal. 48 gr. HP slug as a comparison here.
5 shots ea. Shooting any more than 5 gets too redundant.
Average: 887 FPS @ 1 yard - 3 FPS ES
Average: 806 FPS @ 100 yards - 4 FPS ES

Keep testing, and don't shoot the chrony.............

I’m working in one for you, I designed a new baffles and them are very quiet. I hope send it the next week.
OK, thanks. It does work and it's acceptable, there is just something that i can't quite quantify. I'm going to try it on a rifle tomorrow, curious what happens.

My Zulus’ first critter…🤓

I was powdering sidewalk chalk scored into four pieces at 25 and 40 yards and my 50 yard rat silohuette this evening, recorded. Can only imagine how much better I could do with a better look at the reticles. The view of the reticle through the screen? Muy malo… Please excuse the shakiness, I was standing and shooting off a at least 60+ year old camera tripod.

HW/Weihrauch  HW55 versus HW98

Beeman put airguns into different categories like sporter/field use & match. I think the 55 and 98/R11 fall pretty well into one or the other of these categories. The 55 with an average of <700fps and the 98/R11 at 935 (both .177, untuned) you could use the 55 to hunt but for me it would not be my first choice. I also would not use my 98/R11 for 10M precision target shooting. Both are excellent but as others mentioned the 55 & 98 were each made for different purposes, 55 for 10m match accuracy, 98 for field target.

55- M, MM with light barrel sleeve & Tyrolean with heavy barrel sleeve.

R11- MKI (right side lever safety, super short stock, scope rail), MKIII (longer stock, dovetail) & MKIV (full length stock)

Airgun Videos on X (Twitter)

Now that Jack Dorsey is gone, Twitter (X) has really come alive. So many of the voices that the left had throttled or silenced are now audible once again. It's become my go-to for news that isn't found anywhere else.

There's not as much airgun content on X as I'd like to see, but it will come along. It's nice to have a free platform.

Rumble is another platform worth exploring, as it's also mostly free of the left's restraints.

Cheers,

J~

I had one and it was a beautiful rifle. That said, I wouldn’t buy one today. If I were going the vintage, walnut and deep blued steel route I’d get a Theoben Eliminator instead.

If I just wanted a break barrel sledgehammer of a rifle I’d get a Hatsan 135. They’re much cheaper, about 5 fpe more powerful, less hold sensitive, IMO, and have a better trigger.

AirMaks Arms  Air Maks Krait for left shoulder shooter

I have 5 under $500 PCPs and I think I am about ready to try a "better" one. I am right handed but left eye dominant so I shoot from my left shoulder. I like bullpups and 3 of my PCPs are P35s. Their cocking handle is on the right but I like that. Their magazine is flush so it is not in my face. I tried to shoot an Impact once and couldn't see through the scope. My head is too big and the magazine was right in my face. I don't want to spend ~$1500 for a gun that puts the magazine in my face. A gun I cannot shoot comfortably.

Air Maks guns are pretty unique in having an adjustable length of pull. I like a length of pull of 14.75 inches. I made my own wood stocks for my Prod, and P35s and modified the stock on my Avenger to get the LOP right. But I don't love the idea of having to modify a somewhat expensive airgun this way. So Air Maks are attractive. The Katran is a possibility but to keep the length reasonably I'd need to have the 400mm barrel. Kind of short. The Katran would give me a 500+mm barrel but the magazine sticks out on the left side and thus into my face. It doesn't look as bad as an Impact but perhaps still uncomfortable. I wish the magazine was centered in the action like the SPA M60.

Anybody try a Katran from their left shoulder and have a comment? I'm interested in how far the magazine sticks out, is it further than the cheekpiece protrudes and whether you found it comfortable.
I'm confused. In your post title, you ask about the Krait, but in the body of the post you are talking about the Katran. The Katran looks more like a carbine, as the magazine is inserted into the gun ahead of the cheek weld, unlike the Krait, which is a bullpub design and the mag is inserted opposite the cheek weld (for a right handed shooter). I think if you're a lefty, the Katran would be a better option for you
