25. Cal JSB/FX pellet poll

The JSB King 25.39 grain pellets work well in my Lelya 2.0. The King Heavy 33.95 grain pellets shoot well from my Brocock Bantam Sniper. Two different guns with different applications. I don’t try to shoot the other projectile in the other gun. Testing suggested that this not practical for my hunting purposes. Do what your tests conclude is best for your gun and tune(s).

Airgun Technologies  Agt Vulcan 3 .30 and zan slugs

Oh and post groups with trash .30. I tried too and it is garbage compared to 30063 as is velocity dropping because u aren't seated in barrel lol.
I found it the same as you. But no need to hassle the guy. He may have a quirk with the gun loading the wider slug. Now I felt the slug “cut in” when it was seated. But not too hard.

.

The Picatinny rail raises the scope, makes it easier to change scopes. Dovetail is alright if I use high rings and do not intend to change the scope.
.Another problem with dovetails is too many times they are not machined deep enough ,straight enough, etc
So in the end, though dovetails may seem like a simple way to mount scopes, too often they can cause problems.
When using dovetail mounts it is important to use really good strong rings.

FX  fx m3

Traditional Pistol  FOUND WTB Diana Model 2 Breech Screw

Hi,

My Diana Model 2 air pistol came without the Breech screw included, It is a Hy-score Diana Model 2.

A number of GAT pistol breech screws should be the correct thread for mine - hopefully.

Does anyone know the specification for a Diana 2 Breech Screw (Diameter, thread size? Overall Length etc...) maybe I could find or cutter grind it? Thank you.

Kindest Regards,

Andy

Brocock/BRK  Sniper XR .177 low power setting pellets

I never really paid that much attention to it. The next decent day of weather that I’m off work I will head up to the gun range and check that out. I have some JSB 7.33 grain pellets that I can Chrono and shoot also.
Sweet that would be awesome to hear.

.22 JSB Jumbo Monster Light and Grand

First time I'm hearing about these 'light' pellets even coming down the pipeline/existing.

Have heard good things about the Grand, the redesigned, and the deep. Have heard poor reviews of the shallow.

Haven't tried any of these personally, but have all (except the shallows) hanging out in my cart at various online retailers, waiting until I have enough stuff in there to get free shipping from somewhere and/or hitch a ride in a order with more immediately necessary items.

Other  Springer Newbie

Greetings to all from a senior who is new to Airgun Nation! I've been a center-fire and rimfire rifle enthusiast/hunter for more than a few decades, but I've only gotten seriously into spring-piston air rifles over the last couple of months. Although I purchased a Diana 34-t05 in .177 around 19 years ago (I choose it from a Cabela's catalogue because it was German-made), I bought it strictly to try to control the tree rats that had started to invade my thistle feeders. After sighting it in with its open sights and practicing a little, I was able to dispatch three squirrels within about an hour-and-a-half (all head shots at only about 10 yards, so its was no outstanding feat of marksmanship). The downside to this success, however, was that it dawned on me that trying to keep the squirrel population down was going to be an exercise in futility. Therefore, my Diana for the most part sat dormant for about 18 years.

My interest in air rifles was recently revived after a couple of new friends starting telling me about their collections, and enlightened me about their utility and history (I had no idea that the Austrian army as well as Lewis and Clark had used them). Long story short, I tuned up my Diana with a Maccari Soft Kit and Vortek piston and breech seals, put a Bushnell 3200 Elite 4-12x40 AO scope on it, and had a blast punching holes in targets. In fact, I liked it so much that bought a Weihrauch HW95 Luxus in .22 from Krale, tuned it with a Maccari Hornet Kit, and crowned it with new Leupold 3-9x33 EFR. As much as I like the Diana, the HW95 is just shear joy to handle and shoot.

With this somewhat lengthy introduction, I do have a question after reading a lot about scope choices on this and other forums: Why is there such a preference for larger, high power scopes for air rifles intended for both target shooting and hunting? My attitude toward powder-burners has always been Old School, in that lighter and lower magnification were preferable. Lighter scopes not only reduce the carry load in the field, but also don't interfere with the rifle's balance and handling characteristics. Lower magnification make for a steadier and more sure aim by reducing the perception of jittering crosshairs that become apparent with higher magnification. Am I missing something here that is particular to air rifles?
In competition having high mag helps a few ways
- better see the pellet in flight
- better see your holdover markings
- aim small miss small
- in field target, maximize range estimation capability
- no penalty for the big glass within the rulesets.
- plenty of time to build a stable stance, find natural point of aim, breath control, etc.

In the vast majority of airgun competitions, having a light scope with broad field of view and optical line close to the trajectory simply isn’t an advantage like it is in the field.

Introduction: New to air rifles again again

What pellets to try? Go to PyramidAir. They are in northern Ohio. Buy 3 get the 4th one free. Their packaging is the best. (DO NOT BUY PELLETS on AMAZON) H&N and JSB both sell pellet sample pkgs. They have a large pellet selection. H&N pellets have 4 pellet head sizes to choose from in their >177 Field Target Trophy line. 4.50/4.51/4.52 & 4.53. good luck
