I can see an X ring working but I've fixed way too many leaks where an o-ring was used in the well to have any confidence in them.

You'll know when it's getting grease. If you haven't done so yet, make sure the grease pot doesn't have a large cavity of air in it (they typically do from the factory). I re-packed mine the day I got it, took about 20 turns of the knob to get the grease to come to the edge of the pot. The second pic is another 10 turns, and were was still room left to keep turning it.
I'd level yours off, back it off about 5-6 turns, then with the machine running (and assuming it is time to grease the cylinder), turn the knob a turn at a time until you feel some resistance. That's the grease not wanting to go thru the hole. At that point, you'll know you are actually pushing grease in.

@bigmike, The Ranger XR comes with the folding stock, otherwise it’s the same gun. Definitely agreed that its a great little gun, mine are with me for the long run. At practical airgun distances they simply perform without doodads or fanfare. I am fortunate in that I can test mine daily in my yard from 15 to 102 yards. So am not simply waxing eloquent over the little beast, she’s been put to the test.I think one has a fixed stock and the other has a folding stock.
Just purchased this from a member. Great gun! Have since added a folding stock.

It is good to be lucky! Both guns are from Rich @Airgun-Revisions ...... Pistol scope? ;-) ... Pistol Field Target is new to me, so I repurposed my Bushnell Match Pro to practice with. I like the size of the reticle set at 12X and "modified" a UTG sidewheel to fit it.The Stock Belongs to a 1 of 1 Marauder that was a prize offered by another airgun forum and Crossman made the very first one of one HFT Marauder rifle with a sidelever cocking action.... Crossman had it hydro dipped as part of the 1 of 1 thing - i do not know where it was hydro dipped, but rumor has it that Crossman will soon be offering these hydro dipped stocks for sale??? I personally think the hydro dip needs a sealer or i'm expecting it to rub/wear off.
i just got lucky when the grand prize winner decided to sell it i bought it. If you haven't had Airgun-revisions do a tune on your challenger it is worth every penny. I am curious about your choice of pistol scope?

Lol apparently I had allready answered that one..20calguy
Hmmm....my security program won't allow access to that site. Bummer I know.
I guess I'll need to find another way to get there?
Thanks for the try!
Mike
I would not add any of those add ons. Leave it as is as none of them will incerase your score. I have the same scope and its just fine all the way to 100yds. The donnyfl, who cares if its loud, this will alter accuracy either good or bad, you have to try it to know. The rest ehh just wouldnt. I shoot the AvgX in .25 at 100y and its stock. I do use a Sumo on it as I found a little bit of weight out front helped my accuracy but thats it. Buy Ammo and lots of it, you have everything else you need to have a good time and do well, oh wind flags. Thats worth more than anything.Usually, when I start a new sport, I try to buy inexpensive equipment until I learn if I will "stick with it." After three days at the range, I can tell I will "stick with the rifle". I also bought a Notos, thinking I might like to try an FT pistol, but that has been less interesting.
Now my question is, is it worth it to upgrade the Avenger or move to another PCP straight away?
I could add DonnyFL 1/2 x 20 Adapter $49, DonnyFL FX Moderator $119, Vector MINOTAUR 12-60X60 GEN II MFL SFP $399, AE Swede Bottle Adapter M18 threads $89, .5L Bottle $40, AE Swede Plenum $30, Sidewheel $13, Trigger $36, adding $376 plus shipping (not including scope). Then I will have $662 into the Avenger. Not sure if its better to cut losses and switch to an Avenger X .25 ($729 with 400cc bottle) or Gauntlet SL .30 ($499)
+ additional magazines (not sure which is the best brand), + chronograph and + gun cleaning kit
I welcome any feedback!
Cheers
Two threads that I keep returning to;
@DonnieReed Avenger used for Baker Airgun Review
@SkeeterHawk Doux Technologies Plenum Upgrade for Air Venturi Avenger
@Ray_PR Avenge - X .25 cal won a bench rest competition vs all others high end airguns
I’ll usually stay 2-2 1/2 hours at a clip. You are right, I could shoot all night at this spot. But I limit myself purposely. I’ve really never seen so many rats.If I may, how long do you usually stay during your sessions? I use to have two dairies close by where the action was hot and heavy and it was hard to quit. Alas they are no more. I still get some rats at one of the former dairies, but rarely stay more than a couple of hours. Your situation seems like you could shoot all night… Lucky devil…![]()
