RTI  RTI Regulator stack

Here’s the result of (()) stacks all the way with 24 washers and everything polished all the way up to 8000 while had the reg out. Can probably be tightened up a bit more with fiddling but waaaay better than before, can’t tell whether it’s because of the new stack, polish or both though. H&N 34 gr .217, 72ish FPE:

Can you recommend an informative, comprehensive and well written text book on air rifle shooting?

Although not a book, I have found a lot of information and advice reading Tom Gaylord's posts, which, besides reviews, has a lot of guidance on airguns use and maintenance. He has 687 posts. There are other resources too in the Pyramid Air Resources section. You can use the search function to research your topic.Gaylord just does a thorough job when he discusses a topic.

One leaf mt1000 thermal anyone own/use this for a few months?

I’ve seen a handful of reviews on this product, but most of these guys don’t own it and it’s just over the first few days. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. Has anyone owned this for a few months now and what is your experience over time? What are your thoughts?

Daystate  Brand new to airguns.

I may be wrong but i have not heard of hydrostatic testing for the bottles or tubes that go on an air rifle. I have had hydrostatic testing done on my big SCBA tank. If you are taking your tank to be filled by a scuba shop or a paintball store that can fill to 4500 psi, then they require that your tank is certified.
The water filter you speak of is an attachment for when you run a compressor to remove moisture from your fill. There are many compressors on the market. Best to do your homework before buying.
Air whips i have seen in 2 types .. a slow fill micro bore and normal whips. Micro bores leave less air in the hose, but is slower to fill a rifle. Conserves air.
Most European mfgr state to replace certain items like air tubes after a specific time limit - again, I would specifically ask a the manufacturer about any specific items you have in question. Go to the source.
as I first mentioned, your going to get a wide variety of different information and in this case most will be people shooting from the hip.

Which Athlon? For FX Steamline .177 (pcp)

I think a Talos is your only choice, its the only Athlon that fits all your criteria. Finding any scope in the 16-18oz range is pretty difficult these days.

The 3-12x in particular is listed at 16.2ozs.

Hawke has several scopes that you might like.

DNT Zulus 5-20 V2?

@Monkyshine That‘s a hopefull report. If you’re still at it the way you use to pest, I’m sure it will be seeing frequent use. Please keep us posted on hiccups and remedies that you may encounter With your DNT Zulus.
My brothers will not start up just out of box. He can start it plugged in with usb c then unplug and battery use is fine. Probably firmware.

BCSA (Binghamton, NY) - July 12th, 2025 Match Report

Broome County Sportsmens Association (BCSA) Field Target Match Report

Our 2025 season keeps rollin on at BCSA! The long range forecast for match day was showing dry but hot and humid weather. The day before the match the National Weather Service issued a heat warning with real feel temperatures to be between 96° - 105°. The canopies were set up in order to provide some shade and relief from the sun.

We had 16 people on hand for this match which was a 60 shot rifle match followed by a 40 shot pistol/10m/rifle practice match. Paul Varney and Eric Brewer made their first trips of 2025 to the range to spend the hot summer day with us. We had water and lemonade on hand to help people stay hydrated and Karen brought along brownies and muffins for breakfast/snack! Thanks Karen…as always, they were excellent!

The course of fire for the rifle match was 10 lanes with 3 targets per lane. 2 shots per target with the shooting order being left, middle, right. There was also the usual 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. A previous layout was used but with many target placement changes. The stats for the 60 shot course are as follows:

1752402236646.png

The breakdown for the percentage of targets based on difficulty was:

The wind was pretty much non-existent but there were a few times where we had little gusts come through at the most inopportune time. There were targets in light unprotected areas and targets in dark protected areas along with everything in between! Rick Vaeth was able to lock in high score for the day with a 49 out of 60 in Open PCP . The second highest score for the day was a 46 out of 60 from Karen Reis in Hunter PCP then Rich Sarama in Hunter PCP right behind with a 45 out of 60 . The rest of us followed behind and all the scores can be seen below.

After the conclusion of the rifle match, while the scores were tallied, everyone jumped in and helped pick up and pack away the rifle targets and pull the strings for the pistol targets. As always, Thank You All, all the help is greatly appreciated!

Pistol/etc. Field Target Time!

The course of fire was 10 lanes with 2 targets per lane. The course stats were as follows whether shooting the course pistol, rifle-kneeling or rifle-standing.

8 people participated this time around. There was 5 Hunter Pistol shooters and 3 rifle shooters. Doug Rogers shot his FT rifle for a 40 shot kneeling practice session while Rich Sarama and myself only made it through a few lanes till we threw in the towel!

Unfortunately there was two quick cold lines. As couple of string catches and a push down of the holding pins.

A couple of rain showers came through during the pistol match and gave everything a quick soaking. It relieved the heat only briefly. When the sun came back out…..everything was steamy!

After the match was completed, everyone jumped in and we made quick work of packing away all the targets! As always, all the help is GREATLY GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you all that attended! We greatly appreciate you taking the time to spend the day with us at BCSA! We hope to see you and many more new faces for the remainder of 2025!!

Umarex  Notos 45 shot string

45 shots with a 220cc bottled notos. 18.1 grain jsb.
low velocity was when i decided to top of the bottle and high velocity was after filling.
i can’t remember what psi i started the shot string on but the bottle was not full from beginning.

-shots 1-34 had an SD of 1.3 and
-shots 35-45 after filling shot the 809-808 fps
which brought my SD up.

not too shabby ehh?

Umarex  Zelos/m60b mods worth it?

My stock barrel was inconsistent and required a lot of cleaning so I've got the C88 liner on mine and a 500 superior and 700mm heavy liner. It lightens the gun up a lot, which for me is a bonus.

It was a process getting the liners sorted with testing pellets/slugs and making adjustments but I've .22 I've settled on .217 JSB KOs at 950fps with the Heavy liner. Getting MOA +/- at 100m.

Check tension of the barrel shroud and uses some weak loctite on the barrel kit and shroud grub screws. DaveG and Paul that sells on eBay have drilled a small hole in the end cap so you can insert the drill bit to really tighten it down.

Adjust the pellet probe dept by removing the top rail and turning the cocking rod in. My accuracy improved a lot after adjusting it in 1.5 turns.
I didn't measure the liner lead in vs the stock barrel lead in but I'm assuming the FX liner lead in is longer. Even with larger sized slugs I had little to no resistance chambering them when I initially installed the liner, vs the stock barrel I had some.

Try a few moderators. I have about 6 and some improved accuracy while others made it worse. I settled on a 3d printer Subscriber mod my friend printed as it got me the best accuracy.

FX  Newbie Caliber Question

A .25 just hits so much harder. Same velocity, more weight, bigger hole. Just my observation. Speaking of pellets only. Going off into slugs opens new possibilities for .22 vs .25 but most or at least many pellet rifles will not shoot slugs as well. The .25 allows proper body shots on critters that for a .22 are only head shots.

Up or down.

1st - I start the adjustment with a low regulator, 75 bar, and the macro position at number 13, which is recommended by FX. I don't use a stopwatch for this step.

2nd - I shoot three times at the same point. I'm looking for precision, single-hole shooting. I'm not looking for speed at this step.

3rd - I repeat the process at each macro position from position 13 to position 23. Throughout the entire process, I only change the macro position; I don't touch the micro at all.

4th - At macro position 21, the PCP shoots single holes, now using a stopwatch, and measures 941 fps.

5th - I want to know if I am at the top, I put the macro to position number 22 and stopwatch, I get 975 fps, I put the macro to position 23 and stopwatch, I get 978 fps. As the macro wheel has no more positions I give it 3 clicks with the micro and stopwatch, I get 978 fps, I am a little above 4% of the maximum power with the regulator at 75 bar.

Conclusion: With the macro in position 21 and the micro in position 2.3, I get incredible accuracy—that is, I have a low regulator and a loose spring.
This tuning allows me to use a pellet weight x with complete accuracy, and since the macro is in position 21 and the micro in position 2.3, I can shoot other pellets of lower weight by simply adjusting (lowering) the macro wheel and making micro adjustments.

Springer vs pcp

Coyotes are my pest control as their diet is one of gophers, moles, and field mice. Killing a coyote would be very foolish. When I catch pocket gophers in my traps I leave them out for the coyotes as a treat.

With my .25 PCP rifle I have killed wild turkeys and a doe and a few cats that have been on my property. A Hill pump was replaced with a $300 electric compressor that I bought on Amazon. The $300 electric pump has replaced the Hill which has sat in a closet for the past two years.

Hatsan  Hatsan jet 1 no longer preforming

Hello Jet one owners, My jet one was preforming superbly til it would no longer stay cocked. Hatsan usa sent me a new hammer sear, i installed it and it did not fix the issue. They requested the gun back for inspection. After they returned it to me there was a short note saying they changed out the trigger sear , hammer sear , hammer and hammer spring. Well needless to say that fixed the hammer sear cocking problem.
But now the gun is shooting terrible . Before the work they did this jet 1 was shooting dime size groupa at 25 yards with a 3x9 scope using jsb 15.89 hades pellets. 11 out of 14 shots you could cover with a dime. When i sent it in there were no spacer washers on the hammer to increase tension . When it returned there were 3 1mm washers on the hammer lug. Since i have shot the gun with 1, 2 ,and 3 washers or spacers and also completely removed all three. Still no accuracy as achieved before they handled my gun. Tested also with Jbs Ex 15.89 and Jts 18.1 pellets. At this time to dont Know what to think or where to start. I did take out the supposed new hammer and found that the forward most portion that strikes the valve was flawed , like there machineing missed 180 degrees of the camfer on the hammer face or they dropped it and it hit steel.Any way it had a burr and i fixed that. Cleaned it all up and reassembled and light lube. Will do more testing tommorrow. But what i think is they sent me and old worn out hammer spring and tried to fix it with the tension washers , but its so inconsistent that it might as well be a wall hangers. Any Ideas ???????
