HogKillers 2024 Season begins

Went out today after almost a month, drove in and the darn squirrels scattered, off hand about 20, got over got set up and waited, 65º sunny (warm), very LIGHT breeze, PERFECT...but that darn critters stayed down. Made sure my POI was still there, yep nothing moved, spotted on over on the side at 50 yards, shot, missed, shot missed, then I realized that....I'd forgotten to change my elevation from 70 to 50, whoops, it went and hid, then finally came back up, thwacked it, RMR/FX 26gr hybrid. Went on over to verify and.....WTH where is it? Oh well, saw one out at 100 yards, moved over got set up and let fly, missed, did this a few times, it went and hid then came back up. BAD mistake.. A few more popped up, close to this one, shot and hit, tail circling, another was a hind quarter hit, couldn't find either of them. I wish they'd wack the weeds out there, make things easier.

What exactly is an airgun "IMPORTER"?

Similar to an outfit we had on the west coast years past ( tho still may be around ? ) called "Air Gun Exporter"
They dealt with all the laws, forms, fees & handling etc ... of safely & securing shipment & handling of air guns to other parts of the world .... Being products "Here" going abroad to "there" working out the finer details in making sure it gets to where addressed with the proper credentials attached etc ...

Why is the .20 popular for those in the know?

I think "hard to find" is measured more by if you can't find them at Walmart. "Impossible to find" is measured by whether or not you can't find it anywhere on the internet.
I don't think it's the Walmart thing. They've at least done a little homework on the caliber, know it's not something they'll find at Wallyworld and they're going to have to look online.
Likely more to only seeing 1 page with 4 or 5 choices on retailer webpages vs the multiple pages they see looking at .177 or .22, which tends to be the usual reason shooters give for not shooting .20. Just double checked it at least on PA:
- In .177, you get 148 pellet choices
- In .22, you get 110 pellet choices
- In .20, you get 5
Actually kind of funny since they want that crazy amount of choices, yet come here and one of their first questions is to ask other owners "Which pellets shoot best in yours" so they can narrow the choices...lol.

‼️ Deal Alert ‼️ Vector Optics Continental (56mm) Aluminum Scope Flip-up Cap for $26 @ Dvor

I finally got around to installing this scope cap. It's nice, but it does not seem that it was made for hunting. I like that it is designed to rotate the cap and hinge upon installation to that a scope installed low to the pic rail does not impede the cap from being installed once the hinge meets the rail. When it does, the hinge can be rotated in the opposite direction within backing the threads out of the objective bell. The ability to rotate the cap also makes it very easy to change the orientation that the cap flips open. There is no padding or buffer the prevent the cap from touching the scope cap frame. Thus there is no air or water tight seal created once the cap is closed. It seem sot me that water may reach the lens beneath a closed cap if you're caught out in the rain. There is no resistance in the scope cap hinge. With that said it would not take much to inadvertently open the cap while traversing moderate brush. The metal will make a considerable amount of noise if something hard scrapes across it or bumps into it (like a dry branch, vine, or a pants/chaps zipper). I think this scope cover is better suited for a bench rest rifle or something, but bikini covers are inconvenient to me so I'd rather have flip-open caps installed. I think it's best to stick to the Vortex or Monstrum scope caps that I prefer.

A pellet I would love to see produced

I would love to see a company ( preferably JSB ) come out with a heavy .25 pellet in the 38-40gr range and as a Wadcutter.

I know that Hollopoints are sexy, I know that slugs are sexy but unfortunately in the airgunning world the Meplat is completely overlooked
As a hunter I rather have a big Meplat then a Hollowpoint.

A nice heavy Wadcutter with a lot of the weight in the front ( maybe make it with narrow riding bands like the EunJin ) would really fill an empty spot in today's airgun world.
SAME!!! A much needed option!

558 "holographic" replica's, redcoated lenses vs silvercoated

In reviews i see sometimes a redcoated one instead of the common silvercoated. I notice that the redcoated ones seem to look more clear. Yes they give a blue tint but darken the image less than the silvercoated ones.

I'm not sure if this is true in real life. Anyone who has both feplica's and can tell something about it?

Brocock/BRK  The British Shooting Show... I heard a rumor that..

So the show has come and passed. I haven’t seen anything new about this. So just rumors I guess.
It was indeed just a rumour, unless you count the new safari bronze copperhead that appeared. The stand looked great with plenty on display, it was a very busy all weekend indeed.

Two shots with a 22 fpe Talon P .20 cal no moderator, then two shots same rifle same
pellet with the Ember and finally the sound of the pellet impacting on the target
backstop at 25 yards. The target is further from the microphone than the muzzle of the rifle.
Play this at half speed to hear it better.

35mm by 100mm / 1.38" by 3.94"
60 grams / 2.1 oz.
22 caliber
1/2 x 20 UNF stainless steel helicoil insert

Designed to run on rifles between 20 and 40 fpe but will run fine on more powerful guns.
This is the new "porous" baffle technology we have been discussing on the forum the last
six weeks or so.
Accuracy second to none.

This design has been repeatedly tested on a 70 fpe CONDOR.

$50.00 to your door, CONUS only. I will ship OCONUS but we will need to work out shipping.

PM @OldSpook with your email address. I will invoice you via PayPal.

List want I want to see and know about it? Easier to make a list of what I DON'T want to see and know about it. Here, I'll do just that...
1) What do you keep in the glovebox?

That is all.
:)
I don't know, I'm curious about what Joe has stashed away in there. My guess is an Impact magazine, a candy bar, a plastic fork and a 1/2 inch socket.
