Sometimes we miss

I tried the thread the needle, and missed a little low. All that practice and I missed this little guy. I saw a second rat take off with it once it was up on the fence.

I might have to leave something irresistible for them tonight for a second chance.

Been there ,done that , yesterday ! I was sniping starlings until rain moved in . I pulled over into the big tractor shed to wait it out . Decided to to a few shots at the old metal backer at 30 yrds. Saw that I was hitting about an inch high, ok as that was still good for my longer shots. The rain backed off & the sun peeked out again. So back to the starling spot , I strung my camo net up on the Toyota as before ( shooting out the drivers side, my bad hip won't let me use my chair blind now, hip replacement end of month ) sat the shooting bag on the door , propped the Factor on the bag just as a starling on the roof top . I loaded the mag ,squeezed the trigger and smack ! It tumbled off the roof to the ground. Feeling pretty good about that I backed away and set up for a groundhog at an old log pile close by. I stepped outside & set up my TriggerStick tripod , figuring on a 45 yrd shot leaning against the car. After a few minutes I looked to my right & spied a hog out at 25yrds in a rock outcrop . EasyPeesy I thought . Turning slowly I rested on the hood , wishing I would have placed the bag out on it in case of this happening . I settled as best I could , held between the eye & ear as it was presenting a side profile and touch the trigger . Sounded good and the hog disappeared . I figured it fell back in the cave it had under the rock. After negotiating the single strand electric fence ( try that w/ a bad hip and metal & plastic grabbers ! ) I shuffled up to find a scuffed mark on the rock . I'd shot high ! I forgot about the hold under I needed ! Now I had to cross that dang fence for nothing ! I decided to walk around a bit and use the gate . Oh well .

N/A  Pull Thru's for cleaning

I make my own with weed whacker replacement line & a small, copper, single hole crimp at one end. You can make them as long or short as you want. REALLY simple to make & saves $ too. Even though the copper crimp is softer than barrel I put a small nylon spacer in front of crimp just to be safe.View attachment 453697
Nice - I made a simple diy cleaning snake for my .177 air rifles. by using 0.065 weedeater line folded in half and push through front of barrel to the small opening of the breach and put the cleaning cloth through the loop with some cleaning solution/oil and pull back through the barrel. easy and cheap.

Monstrum Spectre 1-6X LPVO scope

I will also say that I traded for an airgun a while back and it came with a Monstrum 3-9X scope on it. I didn't even pay much attention to it and set it aside. Later, I thought I'd give it a try on one of my Royales and that thing is one of the clearest scopes I've used. I have no idea how the tracking is, other than it holds zero and I did crank it up and down and sideways a couple of times and it came back to zero but it wasn't enough for any kind of concrete proof it tracks. My only gripe was the thick reticle for airguns, but it wasn't bad at all, I've see UTG with thicker. I used it for a while and then my neighbor needed a scope and I gave it to him for his Huntsman, and he loves it.

So, I don't doubt it's a crapshoot. I just ordered a Hawke 1-4X turkey dot for my Notos and it's "ok", nothing special. It's "fairly" clear and the dot is just right. It's just kinda "blah". I'd use it if I had to, but for my Notos the Monstrum prism is absolutely so much fun to use, it's staying there til I mount a scope on it. The Marksman prism is absolutely clear, and for $89 a great deal. I'd love to be able to have "no tools" adjustments, but I just use hold over, so no biggie.

JTS  100 Yard Accuracy on a Budget | JTS Airacuda .25 | Complete PCP Air Rifle Kit for $500

I don't care how cheap / expensive or good any air rifle claims to be or how many spare parts are available, if it is not accurate or can't hold POI it's junk to me.

I don't really like to describe just any air rifle as junk as it may be another person's pride and joy with a different experience as I do.
I'm curious what rifles you've found in your experience stack up best to this criteria. Those are factors I appreciate as well.
