Portable Shooting Bench

I have shot from many platforms over the decades blasting away with mostly Firearms. At the range, mostly very solid Concrete Benches and Benches made of Steel, however I do not like the Steel they can become resonate and vibrate too much. I have shot over Pickup Hoods, Branches, Logs you name it. I built a semi-portable shooting bench many moons ago, its seen better days. I have been shooting Pump Pellet Rifles for sometime but, never really needed a portable rest until I got into the PCP arena and wanted precise results.

So, wanting to replace the old relic that had seen-better-days, I decided to build a Portable Shooting Bench. One that was solid, stable and did not require a Hand-Truck to move it from the Pickup to the shooting location. I wanted folding legs and a bench that was large enough to clutter it's top. This specimen is a bit on the husky side but, that is ok because it is very solid and stable.

I had some flat lumber lying around the garage and found a Portable Sawhorse Online with adjustable legs and that folded up into a neat package. I still have some final work, like trim, an oval hole-handle for carrying and some stain for the wood. I took it out the other day to try it out and do a little Photo-Shoot. I was just what I needed.

Oh! The Charging-Tank... does not remain there, only for the photo-effect.

If your interested in the Design and Construction Details, you can contact me.

Enjoy,

Don

Thank you for the idea! Nice finish on the Marauder too.

Western Airguns  Sidewinder .25 Slugs

Nice test! I haven't done much with slugs yet in my SW... I did try some Zan .253, H&N Grizzly, and H&N HP's but they didn't shoot well. I was trying to decide on whether to order some .249 slugs next, so this is great info.

Do you use any kind of oil/lube on your slugs? I've seen some people recommend it but I've never tried.

(As a side note... my original mag would fit a .253, but the newer mags are smaller, and even .250 slugs are very tight now. I think they changed it to address the issue of some pellets/slug sliding forward in the mag causing a jam. That's why I was curious to try .249)
Yes the newer mags are smaller ID. The mag that came with this will fit the .253's as well but not the newer ones. The .249's are even slightly tight, just enough to keep the slugs in place. I emailed Western about it and of course they didn't reply like so many manufacturers.. Although vendors may not know the answers, at least reply. I do use Slick 50 One lube that I've been using for years on slugs and pellets.

Ataman  Ataman AP16 ?

Thanks for the heads up on a used AP16, Mike. 👍🏼👍🏼

There have been times I would have jumped on this....
However, the Mother of all PCP pistols has graced us with her presence.
And even if "GK1" doesn't sound like the name of a woman or mother — I love her dearly and won't accept anyone else as maternal PCP pistol — unless it costs 40% less than that AP16 at AoA (assuming similar quality).

When silence is a priority

I agree.
I was very hesitant, but eventually purchased my first electric bicycle a few years ago.
Himiway.
Love it.
I own several motorcycles, and electric will never replace a V twin purring down the highway, but....
Short commutes around town, electric is great.
Unfortunately, larger electric vehicles have a looooong way to go.
I saw a review about a Rivian electric truck, going coast to coast, pulling a small trailer with maybe 1500 lbs cargo as I recall, and it was pathetic.
They spent more time charging, then they did traveling!
But a small, lightweight bicycle = great.
Yes completely agree,...the energy delivery system isn't quite there yet and needs to catch up with the motors that btw are just fabulous and performance wise are superior.

But tech moves fast, batteries will get smaller and yet more powerful and the charging infrastructure will become more widespread ( footprint for charging stations is way smaller then for gas station and you can put them anywhere ) and the charging will be faster too.

so couple with smaller more powerful batteries and better infrastructure and EVs will in not to long become valuable even for extended cross country trips.

Also can you imagine if they will be able to have a mini nuclear reactor for vehicles, or something along these lines ?

.......Then with the phenomenal performance of electric motors, the magic carpet ride feel and the basically zero maintenance if would be a joy to put down big miles

FX  FX Maverick as 1st PCP?

I'm running my second reg at 98 bar and using 26g apolo monsters with a 13g hammer . One of the better strings I've tuned . .22 cal VP w 600mm barrel. It was getting smoother towards the end. A small 300cc carbon fibre tank should get the hunting weight down to 7lbs or less plus all the benefits of a longer barrel. Was my reasoning for the VP anyways. Plus , for the price difference you get 2 tanks.

Results  PSA Indoor FT - Results, Mar 10, 2023 - Palmyra Sportsmen's Assoc - Palmyra, PA

Fantastic turnout . this should inspire any springe or pumper shooters !!
I am thinking of all those shooters that think they cannot shoot FT because of a short range to practice in the yard .
MAYBE even a new FT Extreme short range competition courses around the country

FX  Ordered Panthera 600mm in .30 with add. 700cc front bottle from Talon Tunes

Would really like to hear what you think about this gun.! I have been wanting one. Just not sure how well it functions. Please share a range report.
My Panthera compact Hunter in .25 Cal was the cure to avoid buying more .25 Cal air rifles…..

For some people this could be an advantage and for some others not at all….

Optics  SOLD ZULUS HD 5-20R Day/Night Digital with Digital with Laser Rangefinder and Ballistic Calculator

Received this last week. Played around with it for three or four hours and just decided it is not for me. I like the simplicity of a traditional scope and spend what precious little time I have shooting instead of messing around trying to be a video editor.

It is in better than new condition in that I will include the micro SD card and 4 lithium batteries I had to purchase.

Not a market on it as I didn't even fire a shot while playing with it.

I have about over $800 invested in it with the SD Card. Will ship it within the continental us for a total of $550 via PayPal F&F.

Not to regulate but know what the fill pressure is and give you a idea when to shut off.

If you would like to regulate the pressure coming out something like these two would need to be attached. I have and use these, but do not exceed 300 bar bottle pressure as it does not regulate well at those pressures and will damage the regulator.
