Ataman  What do you guys think of the Ataman AP16?

I rated superb though it is definitely not perfect. I find it to be a quality piece in fit and finish, it's very accurate, reasonably powered and air efficient. Styling while subjective, I think she's a beauty. My biggest con is that one must be considerate/aware of how low the pressure is getting while shooting, if too low on pressure it tends to let all the air out after a shot. I typically shoot 3 mags and top off, I can usually get 4 mags on a fill but charge early as caution.

More rat kills. Slow motion. 4th clip in is a cannibal rat.

I used to have a dairy down the road with the same type of intense ratting action. Alas, it is no more…
His farm is more recreational type. Horses, ducks and chickens of various types , alpaca’s, sheep. Grain, food and cover everywhere. Perfect for ratting.

Sportsmatch mount advice R9 (HW95) and Athlon Heras 6-24x56

I have another Athlon Heras 6-24x56 coming for my R9. I currently have one on my HW50s. I am starting to shoot Hunter Field Target at the moment. My HW50s is at about 11 ft/pounds and my R9 is just shy of 15. Both are .177.
I bought Sportsmatch 30 mm High (HT036C) for the HW50s. Because there is only 2 inches between the end of the scope and the loading port the sunshade won’t fit. Never mind - that’s not the fault of the mount. Also, the scope is so close to the receiver that the lens cap won’t fit either. I can live with that as well.
My question is what mounts would you recommend for the same scope and the R9? I’m going to take the Hawks off it. I believe there should be enough length to accommodate the sunshade and the lens cap, but I don’t want them to touch the receiver.
I’ve looked on the forum, and YouTube and seen options, but it would be helpful if someone with a HW95/R9 would chime in. I see that some worry about the fully adjustable one piece mounts shaking with recoil. There are some individually adjustable two piece mounts, but I am not clear on how one can adjust an individual mount without making uneven pressure on the scope tube?

Picatinny to Arca adapter loose fitting

I would remove the small clamp piece and file off a smidge of material from the small inboard flat. That should allow you to bring your final width dimensions down enough to get a decent bite on your rail. I bet it is bottomed out right now and is too wide.

When you buy the cheapest overseas mystery part, often times the dimensions are way out of spec.

ETA: Should've read all the posts first, @Joedirt199 already covered it lol :ROFLMAO:

Umarex  Hammerli 850

I picked up a leaky Walther Rotek .22 for $100 last year and have been very happy with it. It's not gonna be a powerhouse due to the valving and TP but it loves Crosman Premiers at 50m so within its limits its awesome. Still need to sort the trigger out but had a few projects ahead of it.

I've had RWS 850 in .177 and .22 both were great shooters as well.

Sightron vs athlon

I think it comes down to how much do you want to spend? here is a dollar value for each. For myself on a pcp, I refuse to spend any more than $700.00 so that would be ATHLON.

Dollar Value Verdict

  • Athlon dominates the $400–$1,200 range with more features (FFP, illumination, zero stop) and modern reticles. If you want versatility and tech without breaking $1,000, it’s hard to beat.
  • Sightron starts to shine when you’re chasing optical purity and tracking precision above $1,200. Their SIII and SV lines are built for shooters who demand repeatable accuracy over bells and whistles.

Umarex  Gauntlet SL30 - I'm Impressed!

Since I'm here, I built up a 240cc plenum setup for my G30. Tested before 957 FPS at 2900PSI. Took the regulator and put it on the 40cm tube, u adapter and bottle. Tested that setup 961FPS.

The reason is the port from the regulator into the gun is only a few mm diameter. So having a plenum on the otherside of that small hole is pretty fruitless. I'll tear it down again and see if that port can be enlarged. Maybe over the 4th weekend.

Add that to the list, compressor high side rebuild needed. Slowed way down and the oil starts blowing out the vent when it reaches about 3500psi. Rebuild kit supposed to be here this week. 2 years of hard use, I'm okay with rebuilding after that.

May have to unbox the Yong Heng I've had for a year and fill guns direct.

H&N Baracuda sorting

Tommy,

I have not tried any of the pellets you mention but I did try 18 grain and 25.4 grain JSBs and they were not close to the accuracy I get with the H&N.

I cannot increase the velocity significantly because of the hammer spring. It is close to max'd out. I'd like to at least try the H&N pellets at 880 fps but I cannot get there. I am messing with a reduced size poppet in my 25 caliber but I have not gotten it to increase velocity. I did not check the stem protrusion back towards the hammer, however, and that might get it working. If I ever get it working on the 25 maybe I will try it on the 22. But I am pretty happy with my low 30 fpe 22 that occasionally will give me a 200. Air capacity is also limited and with it's current tune my P35-22 will give me a target even if the bottle will only give me a 3200 psi fill or so with a few sighters but if I increase power I might tight on shooting targets on one fill when the bottle gets low. But for me seeing what I can do is just part of the fun.

Diana  Have a German dated 2007 Diana 48 .177 Springer purchased new with a question:

OP here...just installed in my 2007 RWS Diana 48, a Vortek PG4 Delrin-Glide Lite Silent Tune Kit with optional new Diana 28mm Moly Piston Seal and Diana 48 Breech Seal....all as a package for $103.50us; as DesertSilver did above in post #7. Wish I had done this long ago...not difficult at all; in fact much easier than I originally thought! The seals fit perfectly.

Have to say that cocking the side lever is so much easier and very, very smooth. Cut down the decibels considerably...very quiet...almost like a Red Ryder BB gun! Highly recommended!!! I used the enclosed Vortek grease as stated in the instructions for the kit and black moly grease on other parts. When I spoke with Vortek, they said not a problem using both types of grease.
