Taipan Veteran Gen 2 Question

As I recall, the lever that operates the anti-double load mechanism is actuated directly off the cocking arm. With the linkages required to do that with the forward cocking lever, it is probably a design nightmare and not considered worth the time and money to attempt. I'm sure that is oversimplified, but I think it is a direct trade off in the forward cocking design. Be careful what you wish for. One thing I find interesting, is the marketing hype over the free floating barrel in the Gen 2. If ever there was an air rifle that did not need a free floating barrel, it's the Veteran. I think the Gen 1 Veteran is a marvelous design, and one that I won't be trading.
I agree with this. The last time I've zeroed my Veteran Long was 3 years ago... Granted, the rifle is a standby backyard varmint rifle and doesn't get shot much, but still. Also, a few weeks ago, I disassembled the gun to attempt to replace the barrel with the 700mm barrel. It turned out that the 700mm barrels sold on Talon Tunes for the Veteran 1 are actually for the Veteran 2 so I had to put the original barrel back into place because the barrel for the Veteran 2 does not have a 1/2" UNF thread at the muzzle. After re-assembly, I didn't even have to re-zero my rifle as it was still spot on at my distances of within 40 meters.

Non lead pellets

Howdy,
New to the site.
I’m shooting GTO Predator 22cal (nonlead) to feed my falcons.
Does anyone have experience with or know of anything new or better?
Also, for those of you who shoot nonlead, what’s been your best FPS, and the fastest speed you’ve been able to use and still be able to shoot respectable groups.
My best to you
Keith
Curious if you experimented to have a sense of how fast you could push the GTOS and still get excellent accuracy?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Joe Shneehagen accident

I doubt fatigue is a cause of failure in high pressure air storage tanks because the number of cycles is so low. I do not expect to fill mine 1,000 times, I will not live long enough. Others may do much more but fatigue is typically at much higher numbers of cycles (often millions of cycles particularly when the stress is well below yield I looked up 6061 and the source said 10 million cycles at 75% of yield for instance). Creep may not be a great way to refer to the weakness of aluminum in structural applications either. Aluminum just does not have a sharp transition from elastic stress levels to plastic stress levels like steel. Because of this I think of it deforming a little at low stress that are probably in the elastic region even for aluminum.

Regardless of the most likely mode of failure I do not think we have anything to worry about until the tank degrades due to physical damage or corrosion. If the material gets thin enough that the stress exceeds the plastic limit it will creep, possibly to the point of failure. If that occurs I feel more comfortable with carbon fiber over the aluminum liner to limit the fragmentation of the aluminum. I agree we need to keep an eye on the carbon fiber, however. It too can be damaged. Perhaps there is a mechanism with fatigue that could lower the yield strength enough to contribute.

Air arms S410 vs tx200?

An apples to oranges situation. 🙂

I expect that you know that you are comparing a PCP (S410) to a springer (TX200) and presume that you are aware that the PCP requires a high pressure air source.

Most of the sound from a springer comes from the mechanical movement of the internal parts. It pretty well is what it is and can't be dampened. With the PCP adding a moderator can really make them quiet so it could be adjusted to suit.

I have the S510 and the TX200, PCP and springer, and use them for different applications. Don't find either of them to be particularly loud.

I suggest that your other shooting needs/requirements should be considered first.

Cheers!
I have had both, and actually traded a TX200HC for a 410SL I still have. I agree with the above. Neither gun is loud, the 410 may seem quieter, but all that "mechanical noise" from the TX is right by your head when you fire it. I bet if you listened to both from 100ft away there would be little difference. Unless you need "mousefart" quiet, either would be fine.

Tuning  New Artemis p15 dropping fps

Hi guys.
Bought a new Artemis p15 .22 2 month ago.
Fps was 850 steady on 30 shots jsb 18.13. From 230 to 130 bar.
Did around 1500 pellets so far.

2 days ago my POI dropped so I checked the chrono and fps was 790/ 800.

The Hammer spring reg is turned clockwise to the maximum from factory ,can't turn further.

I read many post that some guys got 875/900 fps on p15 out of the box.

Any help finding the problem is appreciated.

Thank you
getting a huma regulator will give you what you want mate I'm doing the same thing 🙄😂 my regulator has gone, the power from 1.77 cal was terrible so I spoke to a few guy's on here and they was really helpful and have helped me out load's, you may want to check your o ring's, even in the regulator and DON'T just mess with the hammer, like me and other's have been told you'll break the gun, not much help more people I can give to you mate because that's why I came on here my p15 was doing 1000fps not every single shot but the pressure was all over the place and the fps was getting pretty bad compared to what was previously being shot, with a 1.77 cal as well 😂, I no it's not funny because I've spent how much on the gun already, but it's something I injoy so I'm not bothered about the money, anyway all the best hope you fix your problem and happy shooting ✌️

HW/Weihrauch  Ring modification

Yesterdays shoot was really great when the wind allowed.
I was somewhat surprised at how easy it was to go from shooting vertical and horizontal shot shell hulls at 75y, to 1/4" swinger at 30y, with a twist of the turret.

20240508_161536.jpg

I did have a bit of windage movement though, so maybe it was the wind. Or perhaps the scope is no longer straight, however it was minor, .75 MOA.
I did still have dieseling, and I'm into my second tin..
