Polymags and “nuclear “ pellets vs slugs

I have had great terminal performance with my .30cal Hades on a few groundhogs. The problem is their accuracy falls apart after 50 yards or so. A great substitute is the FX Hybrid Slug. It holds more long range energy, but it has rapid expansion, which quickly sheds energy in prey. This may prevent passthroughs on some game.

Zerotech for hunting, Delta for target

Yes, there is a mammoth price difference with these two options. So, why buy them? I found the glass on the 6-24x50 HD scope awesome in glass quality and affordability. It’s my go to. However, for target shooting, the Delta Stryker is beyond belief with the field of view at 100. My target shooting friend dumped his Athlon stuff and bought 3 delta scopes according, after using mine. Yes, price is a bit**. But they produce! It’s a get what you pay for deal.

Airgun Technologies  Can the magpul dislodge the HW44?

Thanks for understanding that.
I just sold it to a friend and for him it fits fine.
Not fantastic but good enough.
But I have had the same issue before with grips that have palm shelves.
But with wood grips at least I can modify them to fit my hand.

And in the case of the Manul that started this discussion, I can buy an Ergo grip which I know works very well for my hand size.
Hopefully it is as accurate as HW44 but from AGT's reputation it should be.

If it is as nice as others I have discussed this with have said it will be a nice replacement for my HW44.
The only negative going in for me is that it the magazine is fixed and that even the retailer agrees would be nice to have changed.

Epic  Can the Epic displace the Vulcan 3?

I've got a Uragan 2- 700mm. I couldn't believe how enormous the Uragan 2 looked when I first unboxed it, I'm talking bulky looking as in shroud/bottle diameter (full disclosure - This was my first bottle gun). I believe the Vulcan 3 has an even larger diameter bottle and the shroud is the same diameter as the Uragan 2 (I believe?).

What strikes me about the Epic 2, is the weight, And I consider weight to be an impediment on a hunting gun. The Epic 2 - 550mm is even heavier than my Uragan 2 - 700mm (slightly anyway). I'll take a weight penalty for a blind or stand hunting gun, But when I consider an ideal hunting airgun, as in walking around and shooting stuff, weight is definitely a consideration.

I was impressed with the sticky above with 1791 shooting a 700mm Epic 2 ('All Hits'), a big WOW as far as accuracy/consistency, but then I searched and found several reviews where some of the guns had issues (maybe I could find those for the Vulcan 3 also?). From my perspective, if the Epic 2's issues(?) are ironed out, and the riffles are as consistent/accurate as in 1791's review, weight be damned... I'd be looking at one.

I'm into PCP's for pellet shooting only, but after watching the above video (All Hits), I could see PCP's (with slugs) possibly replacing my 22 rimfires not too far down the road... for fun and hunting.

Jerry
I own much more PCP’s of those than I need.

BUT ….

The idea of having one of the new to arrive Vulcan 3 HP in .30 Cal with 150 fpe able to kill with heavy slugs midle size game at 170 yards…..

Well …. That is something that you need to think twice …

Maybe never…. But also maybe soon…

FX  Advice buying a used impact 2 loaded

That is not a deal. Packages usually run a lot lower than that, especially for an old MK2. The compressor is a nice add on if its a real YH, but not worth paying that much for. For reference a member just sold a nice M3 Impact with 2 barrels and a few extras with some nice upgrades for about $1600. In my opinion the MK2 package is worth closer to $1200-$1400 assuming everything is in good shape.

Utah has M3 Impacts on clearance sale right now and you get a warranty.

Desired end result for accuracy?

Aren’t armadillos like major carriers of bad disease? I’ve read thd scat and saliva of raccoons are no joke and not to be taken lightly, and armadillos(I’ve heard) are even worse? Am I correct or off base?
You should be very fearful of armadillos....and fearless albino turkeys

FX  .30 or .357

I currently have a avenger .25 and I'm wanting jump into a better long range rifle something capeable and accurate enough for rabbits or other critters out to 100 to 150 yards. I was contemplating a fx m3 but now I see the m4 is coming out it would be a bit before I pull the trigger on a new toy. I'm just wondering what would be a better caliber I would also want to use it for extended Prarie dog shooting. But mainly for them lil evil threatening rabbits that are teasin me outside the range of my avenger
Love my Vulcan 3 in 30 but you'll be limited on ammo. Bore is actually 3063 but you can get slugs from AVS or get a slug press eventually with a custom die. It takes a bit more to tune as no external adjustments. Even to adjust the hammer spring you need to remove the stock. With that said it's accurate. I'm shooting 54gn slugs at 976 fps and actually tuned it down a bit, was shooting 60gn at that speed. Here's a head shot I had at 90 yards on a squirrel https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/head-shot-thread.1312648/post-1779147

My 3d printeed technical chassis for the Texan .257 LSS.

I came here looking specifically for this. Very good work and great timing. My first pcp very excited. Excited to design and print some stuff. If you want another mind on it feel free to reach out to me.
Thanks for chiming in! I'm only a hobby guy with a pcp and great 3d printer. This is my 2nd attempt at designing a tech stock which is for my Altaros M24.

My only tips would be to prototype in PLA and final print with ASA.

Air Arms S200 Moderators in the US

@Struckat and @shambozzie , I contacted TKO and they told me that I would need to call in a special order but that they had a special reamer for the S200. Before I call in a Special Order (still only costs $78) I thought I would put a query out there because the 15mm aluminum no-name moderator I got with my 2002 S200 works so well, small in diameter and very light. I have a couple of Buck Rails and they work but this time I didn't want to mess with steel 15mm slip fits with 1/2 UNF threading. I'll probably go with TKO, but wanted to take a last dive for an aluminum one.

Picatinny screw upgrade

Interesting idea, never thought about it. I only used boresighters. The problem with mounted lasers might be that small adjustment screws do not allow precise aiming on long distances. I.e. it would be hard if even possibly adjust laser to POI at 100 yards. But as I said, I never thought nor tried this approach. Thank you for the suggestion!
yeah, try it out! you don’t have to zero to 100 yards either. i also use the laser to help with hold over and hold under for range estimations while looking through the scope as well.

FX  M3 scope rsil

I don't know the M3 I have MK2 only.
The scope picatinny rail is a separate piece from action block and it is adjustable. Yes, that rail can be far off.
I enlarged the screw counterbore holes for that same reason to allow more offset.
The best how to tune that rail?
Set the scope to a mechanical center and mount it on the rail.
Take a larger sheet of cardboard and draw a vertical line, mount it to a backstop making sure the vertical line is in plumb line.
Shoot that vertical line from 5 yard and 30 or 50 y walking there and back and adjust the rail .... until both the near and far distance shots hits the same line.... or the holes are a same distance to the line.
And only now you can go an zero your scope windage.

Thanks all, turns out my rear scope ring was not fully engaged with the pic rail. Fixed that and no more excessive windage adjustments.

FX  All the FX Impact M4 Release Day Videos Here:

I have been watching YouTube videos on M4 since M4 has been released.

A lot of things have already been said in the videos. But I understand that an important comparison between M4 and M3 has not been made, neither their pros and cons have been discussed.

My following video gives insight into the pros and cons and comparison.

I hope it would be interesting for technical readers.

Regards,

Bhaur
Thank you! I put it in the top list. Thanks for the insights!

Brocock/BRK  Ghost hp .177 first groups

@SorenDrost might be able to share a little knowhow on the .177 / 4.5 mm ghost, as i recall he have one of those too, or have handled one for sure.

Yeah the small caliber are a bit funny to work with, seeing others with the same gun but a larger caliber get smacking power 2-3-4 X higher, and also reach much further with what look to be more ease.
I am pretty sure if i was able to shoot .22 / 5.5 mm i would also shoot pellets a lot more CUZ PPL seem to do 100 yards just fine in .22 with pellets

The original hammer in my FX Maverick is quite small and it do not allow for very much power / speed with heavier stuff, but i also have a sneaky feeling it is a SUB 12 rifle that was hastely converted and dropped on the Danish FAC market,
So i have the Huma power kit with 2 brass hammers and a spring + pin probe, and of course dual transfer port.

Just put the heaviest hammer in the Maverick, CUZ i am now at 150 BAR on the regulator to be able to push 20 and 24 grain slugs at worth while speeds.

Friday + Saturday, well at least one of those seem to become a summer day, so 25 deg C or warmer, but so far the number of those we had i my area of the small country can be counted on 1 hand, " summer " been very spring like just 2 - 3 degrees warmer, but lots of clouds and also rain almost every day.

very bummed out CUZ it was the same Weather last year aside for May was quite warm for a spring month.

I think we might actually be able to have our delayed 4 of July chill out, the fire pir are for sure topped up and just need 0.5 L gasoline to get the wet wood there going.
I better remind my M8 to make some ice cubes for our whiskey
where i live (cyprus) a .177 is enough ,as the biggest animal we have for hunting is the crow. and with 45°c in the summer i dont even want to walk 50 meters to retrieve what i shot :). 16grains is the maximum of what i want to shoot to maintain the longevity of my air riffles and my accuracy due to recoil. if this riffle had a bit more airflow so it would not bounce so hard it would be the the optimal airgun. and for the price i paid trust me i do not want to buy anything extra for it for a long time . i shot quite a few airguns and the best so far was the RAW hm1000 with the second place going to the Ghost
