FX  FX Maverick .22 settings ....a little help needed .

Hello , I have a Maverick VP , .22 cal with a 600mm heavy liner to shoot slugs .I put a power kit with a 14 grams hammer . After changing many times the hammer weight, regs pressures , preload screw lenght...I'm a bit lost and it seems that all these changes put the system out of balance. Actually my 1st reg is on 130 bars , 2d reg on 120 bars , hammer weight 14 grams and preload screw is 6mm out. Despite this I cant' achieve the correct speed to shoot 30 grs slugs , which should be around 930-950 Ft/s . Moreover , when I decrease the hammer power wheel the speed increases ......something must be wrong , but I don't understand what . Thanks for your help .
You cannot get 30 grain slugs higher than 960 with 600mm barrel, set pressure at 145 and tune with hs for 25 grainers

357 Cast Slugs

Spent some time shooting a few of these slugs last weekend and... it was a bad day. None of the slugs were shooting well. 3moa day. I've narrowed it down to the two most likely reasons...

1. I was shooting poorly.
2. Lapping my barrel made it worse.

After my last post above I gave the barrel a good lapping with 600 grit. This time I got it looking really good and purdy on the bore scope.... 95% cleanup on lands and grooves. I had lapped it previously and got maybe 30% cleanup. Yesterday it occured to me that I may have warped it with heat. Checked it straightness today, worst spot (middle) was .010" TIR.

I don't know if this is why I had bad grouping... I think it was more likely my fault. Still, not ruling it out.

Anyway... having a bit of a crisis now lol. Not sure if the previous bad groups were me or the slug. Now I've gotta double check my results.

Also... I made another mold. #14 up next for testing. (Left.) 170 grain. 20mm length. I call this:

"It looks like a boolit, I sure hope it flies like one."

Also a .25 39gr that I made at the same time. (Right.)
I have to commend your efforts. You could of easily bought an impact by now with all your experimentation hardware purchases. I wonder how a .357 EPP-UG HP would work. 90gr.

With a crazy range of up to 3,000 yards and pinpoint accuracy of ±0.5 yards, it's like having a superpower. Imagine seeing everything in high-def, thanks to its multi-coated lenses, even when the lighting is acting all moody.

Its OLED display is pretty clever too – it adjusts to the light around you, so you’re never left squinting. The ergonomic design means it feels comfy in your hand even after hours of use. And don’t worry about the weather; it's waterproof and fog-proof. Plus, the advanced ballistic calculator? It’s like having a mini computer that figures out bullet drop and wind speed for you. Seriously, it’s like cheating but legal.

The Practical Pick: Element Optics Helix 1500 Range Finder

Next, meet the Helix 1500 Range Finder. If you're looking for a balance between epic range and everyday practicality, this one’s your buddy. It’s got a solid range of up to 1,500 yards and keeps things accurate within ±1 yard. Perfect for most hunting and shooting scenarios without being overkill.

It’s super portable – compact and lightweight, so you can carry it around without feeling like you’re lugging a brick. The clear LCD display gives you all the deets, like distance and angle, with sharp, bright images thanks to its multi-coated lenses. And yes, it's built to survive Mother Nature’s tantrums, making it a reliable sidekick on your adventures.

The Sneaky Gadget: Element Optics Laser Range Finder Module

Finally, for those who love integrating tech seamlessly, there’s the Laser Range Finder Module. This clever little module attaches to your existing optics, giving you real-time distance readings up to 1,200 yards with an accuracy of ±1 yard. It's tiny and lightweight, so it won’t mess with your setup.

What’s cool is the display that shows the distance right in your line of sight, so you’re always in the know without having to juggle devices. It’s waterproof and shock-resistant, making it a tough companion for all your shooting escapades.

Which One Should You Pick?

So, which one is calling your name? If you’re all about extreme long-range precision, the Titan 3K is your go-to. If you need something practical yet powerful, the Helix 1500 has got your back. And if you love a streamlined, integrated experience, the Laser Range Finder Module is the way to go.

Each of these gadgets from Element Optics is designed to boost your accuracy and reliability, whether you’re out hunting or in a competitive shoot. So, grab your gear and get ready to elevate your game!

AEA  Cocking Lever Screw

It's not a screw, it's actually a roll pin.
My calendar Pro did that also. Bin from the pellet shop told me I would have to fix it myself and just go to the hardware store and get a pin. It has not been the most reliable item. It was also not easy to make it perfect because there's very little space.
If I ever buy another aea I would have to see that that is been corrected. I think the elite models may be better but I have not looked at it closely enough and nobody's shown any videos close enough to know.
Because this has been a repeat problem, you're going to need to make a pin that is the correct length and then find out that after you use it it will slide out. I used a Dremel cut off wheel to cut it to the right length and put some grease in the center and then put glue on the end to keep it from sliding out.

Shortly thereafter the main firing valve pin broke. The pellet shop did have a replacement for a decent price.

Other  Modern day Girardoni ? Or “The Frontiersman Air rifle”

I've mentioned 3-4 times throughout the last 4 years that it'd be cool to have a modern slug repeater that uses either a tube magazine like the relic in the video or a stick mag fed repeater.

I'll put my gas compressor in the back of the truck for air.

That’s what I was referring too.

Not exactly the gun in the video. While it’s cool it’s 2024 give me something with the same general performance or better for half the weight and still maintain the self reliance aspect of the gun.

Something that was purpose built with hand pump in mind.

800psi with a hand pump shouldn’t be a issue.

And if they could sling a 150gr 45 cal round ball at 500fps why can’t we do that in 2024?

Video of bakers dozen with the Zulus…

Is that your property? Your putting lots of dings in that sheet metal. Looks like a fun day of shooting, I like that recticle! My pard doesnt have that one.
Yes, there are “some” dings in the sheet metal, it’s inevitable. Main reason I went to a lower power platform is because of the pass throughs… In the video I believe there are only two shots where the pass through hits the sheet metal… There’s also a shot hitting the railing after passing through the starling, etc. The majority of the shots simply pass through the mesh netting on the sides of the hoop house… 🙏

N/A  Decocking pcp!!!

My in-house weapon is, when 'out' and ready is always ready to go, when in the safe in a ready state, mag is in but no round in the chamber. I don't have small children and when I did, I removed the mystery of firearms by letting them handle it, pounding it in that it's dangerous, I even bought a air soft that looked like it and let them tear the daylights out of aluminum cans with it, they got the idea., of course there was range time with PB's and their own MSR's. I'm not sure I'd keep a loaded airgun around but that's me. YMMV
Exactly!

and if we are splitting hairs .....the first rule in handling arms treat every weapon as if loaded
my ready gun is always my ready gun. no children here only aware adults living in my home.

Functional versus Superior Quality: Finding Value in Airgunning

How about "buy once and cry not at all"? I am happy with my Prod, Avenger, and 3 P35s. I also like my much more expensive Caiman. But I certainly am not crying about any of them. The Caiman arrived with the worst trigger of any of them and needed multiple fixes to it's regulator but it's shooting great now. 199 on the 30 yard challenge last week. But my P35-22 shot a 200 last year and has a 197 this year out of only a few targets with it.

It is possible to screw up any airgun. Heck it's probably possible to take a toaster apart and mess it up too. It would really help if manufacturers would put a decent amount of information in the manual but the Avenger, which cost $300, has the best manual and it is not great. Fortunately we help each other here and there are youtubes which are a big help. I also got needed help on the Caiman from Utah airguns. I've probably done the least to the avenger but I've turned the regulator all the way down and most of the way back up. I've tried multiple moderators on it and shot a bunch of pellets through it. But I've had the 25 caliber P35 completely apart including the trigger mechanism. I was literally praying I got that back together and I did. I have not taken the P35 regulator apart but I did the Caiman's Huma because it needed to be taken apart. I drilled out the transfer port, barrel port, and passage between them in my P35-25. I also put an aftermarket plenum on it. Some of these things took more attempts than others but they all got done. My point is just that while it is possible to make mistakes it is also possible to keep at it and be successful.

I appreciate the finer machining of the Caiman but that does not mean I don't also like my P35s. The cocking is a little sloppy but the trigger is not and they are light, short, and accurate. I appreciate the fact that we all get to decide how to spend our money but I think it is wrong to suggest that the result of buying a under $500 PCP is we will "cry". Or be significantly dissatisfied with the purchase. That has not been my experience at all. 3 brands, 5 purchases and they are all fine guns.
You got a point there. I enjoy shooting my wildcat most.
