Huben Peanut 22 slugs in RTI

The barrel came out of my Prophet II compact and just has 5.5 stamped on it, Its a 500 mm length , I am pretty sure its choked just not 100% sure.
It was suppose to be the new improved barrel from RTI the reason the Prophet II had the big price increase but at the last minute they snuck the no name barrels in , At the same price point, The main reason I do not have a Mora or a Prophet III.
Oh, the peanut slug fits very tight in the barrel, Now Huben needs to make a peanut slug in 177, I have shot a lot of 177 slugs and none are accurate, Maybe there is hope with the Peanut slug in 177.

Benjamin  Marauder .22 slugs

I think you are whistling Dixie then. Good luck, please come back with some accuracy and shot string with velocity results as I am very curious as to what maxing out the HS and backing the restrictor fully out will do coupled with removal of the valve poppet return spring. Should be interesting or at least entertaining.

FX  Please where can I buy a sear trigger wheel & lighter trigger spring for the FX Panthera?

In PB world the 3rd party developed trigger like the triggertech is where the quality start the piece price sits at about $250 in average. If you wanna go higher quality the piece price will quickly jump to $6-800.
For airgun world I don't think would be anything cheaper. What is the actual demand for the trigger upgrade? Don't tell me there would be a hundred ppl ready to pay....

I dont think we need anything like a whole new trigger like the Triggertch or B& A type triggers.

Just 3 parts that could form and easily installed little little kit and really improve the trigger t:
1- a polished & slightly modified trigger wheel,
2- a Polished sear
3- & lighter trigger spring

.. Let' say similar to the kits that Cajun Gunworks sells for the CZ 75 & SP01 series except much cheaper since only 2 little polished parts & a spring

makes the trigger super crisp and light

Winning RMAC Big Bore projectile

My past, present and future projectiles for ELR:

Far left: 72gr @1010fps in a .257 build (aka “Pea Shooter”). Used to win 2022 RMAC big bore match.

Middle: 105gr @1050fps in a 7mm build (aka “Sender”). Used to win 2023 and 2024 RMAC.

Right: 151gr and 171gr at 1080fps to 1180fps (goal) in a .308 build (aka “Mach Sender”). Still under development.

USFT  Sought guidance on USFT FPS spread - Tim's recommendation worked!

I shoot an unregulated USFT (Hunter #150) in 25 meter heavy varmint (20 FPE max) benchrest.

I can regularly shoot 247+ cards but occasionally I’ll get shots that are 2 to 3 mm high or low which prevent scoring a 250. I’ve traced the problem to variations in muzzle velocity. The POI on the y-axis on average goes up/down 0.17 mm for each FPS swing in muzzle velocity. (This is in line with predictions by Strelok and Chairgun.) Even with tethering to keep reservoir pressure constant, across 60 shots, I can often see an extreme spread of 35 FPS (with SD of 8-10) which implies a y-axis range of 6 mm which is not good for scores.

I’ve tried changing poppets and hammer springs, but I don’t get much change in FPS spread. I wonder if the issue is friction in the trigger mechanism or Hammer spring guide.

This leads me to several questions:

1) What sort of ES and SDs do USFT owners get with their guns, regulated and unregulated/tethered?
2) What ideas do you have for reducing spread?
3) If this involves dissembling and reassembling the trigger section, can you provide any procedure for doing this, or at least any “watchouts” for this? I have not tried to remove the pins holding the trigger assembly in the gun for fear of not being able to reassemble it.

Hoping some of you USFT folks can provide guidance on this problem.

New pills for the GK1!

Sorry guys but I didn't think it was worth posting! The GK1 was not really designed for slugs and really shows with my V1.
Best groups at 30 yards were around an inch and might be ok for some but not for me! JSB heavy mk2s shoot into one hole!
Maybe if you cranked the power up and only get a few shots the results might be better but I'm looking for consistency and a full mag of shooting before a refill. Really for the power level and short barrel of this setup slugs are just novelty! And not to mention the diameter of them to fit the mag is to much pressure on the system! Most of these guys having problems are finding out the hard way.
Here’s @Gregor shooting 24 grain .177 slugs from Zan From a GK1

Sounds Like he missed half of his shots and I don’t know the distance, but still impressive for a .177 IMO.

N/A  Springer power mods tips??

What an interesting thread/ read.

Going back to basics of the thread here (compressing air with a spring piston set up for slugs).....this should be possible when you consider one fact-

The projectile in a springer gains the majority of its energy/ velocity while it and the piston are both travelling in the same direction.

With this in mind you can say that stroke length vs barrel length would be a very important factor (dispelling some of the earlier statements that a longer barrel wouldn't be necessary).

Naturally this would scale up everything, including weight and length, which would somewhat help to naturally manage recoil and cocking effort/ leverage.

The downside of course is it also means you could rule out off the shelf options for a suitable rifle (barrels, mainspring, piston, seals) and likley slugs. Pellets are seated in the leade in on a springer, another critical part of their functionality/ efficiency. Slugs are not seated, so as mentioned by someone ealier would likley need to be chambered to allow for initial pressure to build (avoiding losses)

Surely the real issues/ limitations would come with the porting. As swept volume increases the port volume/ flow rates would need to increase too, otherwise the compression ratio would simply be too high. In my head you'd likley reach the point where the port diameter would need to match bore diameter (which may need some thinking about). Short ports flow better, but how short can you physically make the cylinder plug on a springer with all that force behind it 🤔

Either way, wouldn't it be great if someone built such a beast and pushed the envelope to find out just exactly where the edge is. Hard to imagine it happening any time soon though.... for the small gains associated with shooting slugs, however.....

Go for it OP! Perhaps its your legacy to be the man who provides this evidence to the airgun nation....one way or the other 💪😁

Air Venturi  best slugs for avenger x 25

From my understanding, the Avenge X as not designed to shoot slugs. It shoots Pellets extremely well when you find the one the barrel likes. I guess, that beings it's your gun, you can shoot what you want, but slugs aren't your best option.
There seems to be a lot of debate about the idea lslug barrel and speed but the 25 cal Avenge-X actually does shoot slugs well - I don't have space to go any longer but at 120M, its still grouping well and the pellets struggle. At 50M it puts either one through the same hole 5 out of 8 shots.

This would seem to go against "conventional wisdom" about needing a faster twist and higher speeds (1000+ FPS) but they fly ok and are less impacted by the wind so it seems to be a viable option (after about 350 slugs so far)

HW/Weihrauch  HW50 barrel change ?

If it’s the newer style WITH THE STAR NUT it’s very difficult . You have to KNOW HOW ITS DONE OR ITS DISASTER
IVE DONE IT AND MADE the custom tool to remove them. If it’s older style it’s pressed in with a retainer pin. Not so bad but bluing will need to be done and added cost. LW blanks are ranging $145 then machine time and blueing will make it cheaper to get new complete breech block and barrel from TW Chamber s or Knibbs.

Hawke fast mount ao ir 3x12x50 zero problem

Hi all
I’m having problems zeroing my hawke fast mount ao ir 3x12x50 scope when target shooting at 16 yards the pellet seems to be 8inch to the right of the target and 5 1/2 inch above even when I adjust the turrets it makes very little difference.
im using a gamo speedster gen 2 with H&N barracuda 15 .22 Any advice will be greatly appreciated
