I have been working with this gun for a while and I have gotten it shooting. I am not saying this is not a good gun. It is an inexpensive compact gun that is fun quiet and accurate enough.

When put to target shooting standards it has three issues that are just what you get. First at this price point it does not have an LW barrel. So it is not a target rifle accuracy. Second it has a very small air tank. This makes it easy to pump up and it can be done with a hand pump. But the third problem is the gun has no regulator. So between the small tank and no regulator the sweet spot is a short string . And for target shooting it’s ok if you keep it at a specific pressure. But over a 1000 psi range the POI shifts. It’s not that bad but it is not a target rifle class. Still a load of fun.

I suppose it’s worth a try, but I’m thinking the O-ring might still extrude because there’s not enough flange area on the part pictured in your OP. But there might be one out there.

It might be the case .. I haven't measured but I think the emperor is limited to .50 cal max

For my best results with light pellets I simply take a handful from the new tin and put them in an empty tin with Superlube Silicone oil squirted on the foam. Then I simply swirl them around on the oiled foam and load them "wet." It cleans off flakes and gets great shot to shot consistency, and no barrel leading.

Heavy projectiles require higher pressure to shoot at balistically useful velocity. I hope that this is where it is going.

Jim I also bought a Caiman last year when UA was having the clearance sale. A 25cal standard Caiman w/wood stock.

Just like you I also had some teething issues with it. First problem I had was that I received my Caiman missing the 2 main cap scews and cups that hold the gun together! lol When I picked it up on opening, it tried to separate. I called UA and they rushed a set of screws and cups at no charge. Good service, but I wonder why UA was clearing them out....Could have been from issues with that batch, or just to make new for the mark 2 version.

I shot it a little on the charge that was in the tank just to function test after the parts came in. A week later I pulled it out to glass it up and it was on 0. I had a Hill mk5 pump coming from a member here so I was able to trouble shoot when it came. Apparently the O ring behind the gauge had blown out.

I think I remember seeing some dates inside the gun from 2018. With the pandemic shutdowns/delays I could see that....

Well, I bought another place about that time and for a year I was moving, working on a new production shop and trying to balance finances so I couldn't work with the rifle until a month ago. Been shooting it a bit, really bought it for hunting. No further issues.

I find the design, function and machine work/materials to be first class. Just like every other Czech made product I own. (Heavy stitchers, tractors, guns, etc).

I did look at the new Mark 2 Caimans and they are practically the same rifle. Just no pins in the top and safety moved to a slightly better place. The wood on mine looks great and to be honest I wouldn't be inclined to trade for the "upgraded" model. As far as a huma regulator that could be a good thing, but for a hunting gun in 25 cal I think it's practically a non issue.

To me it feels like a 22 SV carbine with a can.

Plus, the price on the new models, 1,300???



Jim D how do you know your regulator is set at 100 bar? Are you working it out based on velocity and weight of the pellet?

No, Daystate at present or in future shouldn't be threatened imo, by Skout.

I will never own a Skout with their current offerings, just not my cup of tea, quite a few Daystates I would absolutely own if I were a collector.

When mechanically driven pilot valves become popularized, then you'll see some interesting innovation (not saying this is peak innovation), if that time ever comes. They are not easy to manufacturer nor maintain, but the L2 uses one actuated by the trigger (that is how easy the valve is to actuate!)...so while the L2 is a front runner in that sense, they're trigger quality suffers because it is what actuates the valve...imo. If they made it hammer driven, many people would love Edgun L2's much more than now...just my 2c.

The trigger in the L2 is my least favorite thing about them. On the 2 I have owned if I squeezed the trigger it would bleed off. If I popped the trigger they shot good, but it’s hard to be accurate popping the trigger. Yes in a rest it shot pretty good where you had less influence on the gun movement

Just a quick question? Is the FX boss so much more expensive in the USA than over here in Europe?

Installed a Huma in my FX Boss. Best thing I ever did to it. Accuracy, power & shot count all increased!

A stock M-Rod has a 20 inches barrel. You are down to 75% of stock right there as the M-Rod barrel is on the short side anyways.

What do you think is limiting you to stock output despite your heavy spring, hogged out ports and short barrel?

A stock M-Rod .25 will make 16+ shots on a Bell curve at 40 to 44 fpe.

Im gonna chrony it again tomorrow I maxed out the hammer and spring preload I'm gonna see what that does and go from there. And probably get a bigger trasnfer port soon.

I was looking for target that can stand up to the .30 cal, at 75y, but I have other guns and targets that are working now, so the idea is a seed at the moment. Sooner or later I'll make the move.

I just ordered a FX Wildcat Compac BT in .22, anyone know what the 2 regulator pressures will come from the factory.

I think I have found my out to 50-yards setup for my .177 Avenge-X. As a newbie I didn't want to mess with "tuning" the rifle until I am more comfortable. My goal was to find a combination that performed as well as my TX200 MKIII at 50-yards. The TX200 shoots about .60" to .80" at 50-yards.

Previously I tried 6 commonly good pellets on the high setting of my Avenge-X. A couple were promising but at 950 fps to 960 fps for 10.5 grain seemed too hot. There was some looping taking place.

This round I dropped to the low setting. Low runs about 820 fps to 830 fps with 10.5. The SDs were 1 fps to 2 fps. I tried a couple H&Ns, AA 10.3's and Benjamin 10.5 grain.

The AAs were shooting about 0.50" at 50-yards. It was repeatable over different days. So a .177 shooting 0.50 at 50-yards seems good to me.
