Invicta July 13th match report

We had ten shooters come out to play in the heat, actually it was tolerable down in the creek area, plenty of shade, maybe eight degrees cooler than the top of the hill.

I decided to not bring a coat, I also put a new flip compensator on, but I was just too hot and lazy to check my zero, and that resulted in my horrible score, I also cleaned my barrel and didn't lead up the barrel before the match started, so basically I am using three excuses....

The wind caused some misses for us folks shooting lower power, regardless, Danny kept with his shooting jacket, and his cool, and got the top score of the day, way to go! Nipping at his heels were Bill in Open class, and Brad shooting Piston class, both shot a 52, I tip my hat to Brad, shooting 12 ft lb AND piston class and only being one point off the top score it some excellent shooting. As usual, Brad was the first one there, trimming lanes and making the course better for everyone.

We had a new shooter, Matt Judd came out to shoot in Hunter class, he is a very experienced shooter in other disciplines, and his first ever FT match he shot a 48!! I hope he moves swiftly onto one of the other classes to really show his full potential. he said after just one match he has the FT bug!

Sig Sauer  Sig sauer x-five red dot sight

So yeah...right !

Again, removing the factory sight leave nothing for any dot sight to attach to. Simple as that.
Unless you want to mill a flat, and tap two screw holes yourself.

Mike
Did you see my sigguy link to the armory craft adapter plate? It screws in the hole for the elevation adjustment screw.

Umarex  Zelos Anyone waiting on their preorder ?

Those a great groups!
Ive shot mine a little and taken some speeds. Shoots a little fast and loud. I’m trying to turn the reg down right now but it seems a little weird. I’ve followed the directions but it’s fighting me. It went down a little but I’ve had to try adjusting probably 6 times. Finally ran it all the way CC and it appeared to be going up!

SO now I ran it mostly CW. Will see how it goes.
I shot mine at 50 yards and it should do 1/2” groups no problem if I do my part. Here’s a quick target I shot. Kinda confusing groups cause It was windy and some I was adjusting scope. The jsb 20.89 shoot great. That bottom group is in a line cause my target was moving back and forth in wind. I did get a nice 4 shot group
I hear the reg has course threads and you barely move it. I’d like to turn mine down a tad. Unfortunately mine has a leak and might need to go back. Sucks.

Results  PSA FT Results - July 14, 2024 (AAFTA and XFT)

This month the green course was along the road with a few lanes in the sun, the red course was in the upper part of the ravine, and the blue course, as usual, was setup on the competition rifle range. The day was hot (~95F) and mostly sunny.

The 3 course average difficulty was 28.7 (moderate) and the individual course sections had the following avg difficulties (not including environmental factors):
  • Blue - 28.8 (moderate)
  • Green - 28.0 (moderate)
  • Red - 29.2 (moderate)

Scores - Each course is a possible 20, and the 3 course total is of a possible 60 (ties are not broken).
2024 Seasonal PSA FT scores are available at PSA 2024 FT League Results

Thanks to everyone that showed up, and special thanks for those that helped clean up at the end.

Gentlest method to wash pellets

For expediency I use Ballistol spray gently swirling in a rubber maid container and spread out on paper towels-I reuse the container
But
Rod B has a even better method
I use liquefied bees wax as a lube solution without washing and my so's dropped into single digits

ZAN Projectiles .30 Pellets BR50 available now!

They didn't shoot better than JSB 50.1gr in my Paradigm. I also tried the AEA 50.1gr and it didn't do that well either. Both shot about 1" groups at 53y, whereas the JSB shoots .5" groups, actually a little smaller than that, you just end up with a wide single hole. The Hades do the same thing, but the most accurate so far has been FX Hybrids/RMR ammo. That's the thing to take away from this, FX/RMR are so accurate that I will not change my tune for the other pellets and the JSB just happen to be the most accurate with where it's at. If you tried different speeds the the Zan's could very well be more accurate for you.

Tuning  Available options for externally adjustable in-line bottle regulator

Look up HUMA inline regs.
Totally forgot about it, thanks!!! Added to the top post! Yes that's a good option, the only problem is that it has only one gauge showing output regulated pressure, no gauge that would show input pressure inside the tank. Ninja comes with two gauges.

RAW Rapid  .22 HM1000x and JTS 22.07

Evening All!

Have enjoyed diving back into the hobby this past month or so (man has there been a ton of changes and advancements)!!

Currently throwing all my focus around 100 yard bench rest and have numerous contenders in the stable I am testing out.

One is a RAW HM1000x .22, put it through its paces today and one thing that blew me away was how well it grouped not only the 25.39 Monster Redesigns but also the JTS 22.07 (flying at 1010 fps!). 100 yards 40 shots. Apologizes for not posting with a measurement or thumb nail etc. to give a sense of size but measured 1.30 inches from far left to bottom edge of far right.

View attachment 479945

This was with a middle of the road scope, 24x magnification, rear bag and Atlas bipod sitting on a 4 foot long card table and a lawn chair so not the most stable setup.

Not sure if this one will make the cut for my intended purpose (have 13 more to put through their paces) but sure was surprised to see a fairly light weight .22 pellet group so well at that speed and distance.

Anyways just thought I would share my findings and throw this out there for other HM1000x .22 owners.

Be Safe,
Dr. Mike Long
What are you shooting the 25.39 monsters at ? Just 22.07 at 1,010 fps is flying ! The 25's must be going about 990 fps ?

Shoebox compressor f8 o ring sizes

Gotcha. So, that part should be okay.
If it shows a leak at the Delrin (oiler) nut, then it is leaking from the inside O-Ring. The Delrin nut should not be tightened for leakage, you'll break it. It's only there to hold the oiler felts, nothing more.
I am assuming that you cleaned the inside of the cylinder extremely well before replacing all of the innards, right? There can be a buildup of gunk inside if it's not cleaned, this will cause leaking and since liquid is not compressible, you won't be able to get the pressure much past 1,000PSI, if at all. DO NOT use any sort of wire brush on the cylinders, it will scratch the surface and will not seal with the O-Rings afterwards. I normally use Goo Gone or similar with cotton swabs and pipe cleaners, then a final flush with Goo Gone, then flush that with water. Allow to dry well or blow-dry with dry air, then reinstall all of the innards and try it out.
You're not getting a good seal with the O-Rings inside.

Mike

Air Venturi  Moving Groups

I had issues with POI shifts in my avenger and one item you may want to check is the spring adjustment screw. If you do a lot of tweaking like I have done, the screw gets loose and the vibrations shot to shot will have it moving. The avengers do not have a set screw for the hammer spring tensioner unlike guns like Hatsan which you had to loosen the set screw before adjusting the spring. I fixed mine by drill and tapping two M5 holes in the existing screw holes to both sides of the tensioner assembly. Repleced the old screws with M5 grub screws with nylon tips. This allows you to lock in the tensioner screw by tightening the grub screws on the left and right. Does not require disassembly since the grub screws can be accessed with the receiver in the stock.

Huben  Huben GK1 Target Groups (photo thread)

I didn’t change my reticle yet, but my last group is one that I feel good about. This is the smallest target I shot measuring about 0.5” in diameter. 8-shot group shooting offhand from 10 yards out. Shot from my .25 GK1 V3 w/Holosun 507c circle/dot reticle shooting JSB King 25.39 grain diabolo pellets.

Target size approx 0.75”

Group size approx 1.25” CTC.

Now the key is to do the things I focused upon this evening for similar results.

Edit: My measurements were all off. Thankfully I took photo. Lol. I’m still happy with this group.

Results  Field Target Match - Fairless Hills, PA-Sunday July 21, 2024

It was another beautiful day at Falls Township for a field target match with sunny skies and no wind! I want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting our match.

We had 15 people accept the challenge of our woodland course which offered an array of challenging targets as well as some designed for our newer shooters. I mixed things up a bit this month with a new offhand lane and an all-new lane. The course’s average distance was 25.1 yds. with an approximate 27.0 Troyer including lighting. Justin Hess won the Hunter Division with a 55, John Stellwag Jr. had the high overall and high WFTF with a 58, Brian Vanliew took open class with a 56.

A special thanks to everyone for their participation and helping clean up. Our next match is an outdoor rifle & pistol silhouette match on 18 Aug and our next field target event will be 15 Sept. Hope to see everyone there!
