Stoeger  Stoeger XM1 Bullpup How Tune Down?

There is a picture of how I do the measurement in post 18 of this thread. It is not based upon a theory of how regulators work, it was just a guess initially. Then I tried it a couple times, made measurements and then shot the gun down to below the regulator setting. Experimentally instead of theoretically determined, in other words. The range of lengths I suggested is based upon the length of the regulator in my P35X right now which seems to be giving me about 90 bar and the length of the regulator in my P35-22 which seems to be about as high as the hammer spring will open (140 or so).

What I don't know is how much variation there is between SPA regulators. I wouldn't be surprised with a 0.1mm variation. But that is purely a guess.

FX  Impact MK2 leaking out reg weep hole

I'm pretty sure there's no oring in there, but not positive. There certainly is no groove for it, unless there's a ring in there that I can't see. Anyway, for the first time ever, I gave up and sent the Impact to AOA for a reseal. I've got too much to do right now and I just couldn't see what it should have looked like. So, 4 weeks and it'll likely be fixed, and I can move on to other stuff.

My reg looks different than most, it has two tiny internal orings in the "house", one for the piston, and one for the adjustment screw. They looked hard to change, but turned out really easy. There is one on the piston, easily changed. There is on on the outside end of the "house" also easy to change. I did all that and it still leaks. There may be a flattened, hard oring in the action, but I couldn't tell and didn't want to go digging, not knowing for sure. The "house" does have a black mark/ring on it, that looks like it has been in contact with an oring, but for the life of me, I couldn't make it out. Anyway, it's their problem now.
I'm not pretty sure there is an o ring in there. I am positive there is one. That's what seals the reg from leaking. Seem like you replaced all the o rings on the reg except the one inside the action/under the trigger. That is causing the leak. It's a simple change. What I do is, I use a sewing needle and poke the o ring. Since it's not gonna be reuse I don't worry about damage the o ring. If you poke the o ring, you can lift it out from the groves. It's a 40 cent fix instead of shipping both ways, pay service fees and waiting a month.

Daisy  Seals Daisy 856- source?

you know i know nothing about these rifles but i am a quick learner
so the seal that makes these rifle run is the part group 360ab but in that group the seal is called an Abutment and a new word for me
now JG airguns show them, and the price is fine but there shipping can take the fun out of it
https://www.jgairguns.biz/860-c-78_186_234/dai860t5-abutment-p-16330.html
now as i read and look it was an interesting little rifle
now there are parts out there and the problem is where are they and how to find them and that becomes the impossible part and believe me i have been chasing parts for all sorts of brands for 20 years
the factory or JG will be your source for parts and if Daisy has them the price plus the shipping costs will be far less but as Crosman had done in the past and Daisy i would think also, they sell the parts off to a parts seller and they become the only place to play and you pay their price or hope you find the Unicorn you are look for
and one last thing any parts will be as old as the last rifle produced and that matters little when it comes to hard parts but in the case of soft parts seals and the like they are not fresh by any means and that would or could be in most cases
good luck Mike

Thanks!

FX  Most power obtained with your fx crown mk2? Ive added more info and more to come check back.

i shoot every day, i have two pantheras, one impact m3 and a grs crown mk2, all are of highest power, 27 and 30 gram hammer wieghts, stronger springs, larger vavles, ect,,,the more pressure your add with reg, the more it takes to open it, open at higher pressure means more power for heaveir projectile, the hybrids at 1100fps go straight. the 40 grain for longer distances go good at 1050 fps . listen heres my number, your welcome to call me tomarrow and we can compare, maybe i can help you break a record, i dont do vids, itd get me in trouble 7314316882

Crosman  What is the Crosman 760?

1968 , I was 12 years old and a terror to the chipmunks and sparrows. Smooth bore , metal and wood . I was making my shots count cause a tin of pellets constituted the bulk of my weekly allowance. But those were good days long gone but never forgotten............................

You can really see the progression towards more and more cheaply made guns when you look at Crosmans over the years. Their early stuff is really quite good. The 101's, 140's, 160's, MK1's and 600's were all high quality guns and the only thing they cheaped out on were the grips on the pistols. By the 1970's a lot more plastic was creeping in and the wooden stocks were mostly gone, but the receivers were still made of metal. By the 2000's plastic seemed to have become the rule even for breeches and receivers.

Their Benjamin line of products seems to have become what Crosman once was, so up until very recently they were still making the good stuff. Hopefully they can keep it up under the new ownership.

My AEA Standard .30 cal has a great trigger (out of the box), is tuned to shoot 9 shots over 90 ft lbs on a fill, fairly quiet for the power, and I have never had any issue with it other than having to carry it... (somewhat heavy), and it won't set you back much yank if you decided to grab one.

Of course the Airforce Airguns are always an option as well.

Kalibrgun  The Cricket Carbine, or There & Back Again

Kalibrs are under rated. They are built like tanks and very accurate. I have a Cricket 2 in .30 that the last time I shot it I put 10 inside a quarter size hole at 75 yards. My synthetic is 9 lbs without a scope, but I have guns that feel much heavier. You made a very good choice.

Boerne Field Target Club (TX) Match Report Sep 14, 2024

Hello fellow air gunners:

Due to some temporary scheduling overlap, only 3 brave shooters came out to enjoy the Texas warmth and friendly competition. Temperatures were 80’s at the start warming to the low 90’s at the end. A moderate, very gusty wind made things interesting early in the match. Additionally, the wind direction moved around a lot, at times coming from the west, something we rarely see. For the most part, it died down as the 60 shot match progressed.

The results:

1st. Robert D., Daystate Red Wolf, Hawke 8 -24 x 56, JSB 13.43 gr, 52/60, 87%

2nd Glen D., Ghost, Sightron, JSB 13.43 gr, 45/60, 75%

3rd Sheppard M., Cricket Z Tac, Crimson Trace, JSB 13.43 gr, 40/60, 67%

Next match: Saturday, 12 October 2024

Gates open 0800, 8 a.m., Safety Briefing and match start 0900, 9 a.m.

Airgun Silhouette Match

The Boerne Shooting Club, located a little west of San Antonio just off IH10 has been a Schutzen and .22 rimfire venue since 1864 (yes, 1864, not 1964). Leo D. and myself with a lot of help brought Field Target there in 2014 when Yegwa (spelling, I know…) closed as the only Field Target club in Texas.

Today, the current match director of the Boerne Field Target Club, Sheppard M. and Glen D., the President of the Boerne Shooting Club have worked very hard to bring air gun competitions to the club. See boerneshootingclub.com

The second match of air gun silhouette was held in the afternoon after FT. The match format is still being worked out but is modeled after the Texas 4-H Shooting Project Air Rifle Silhouette Rules (https://texas4-h.tamu.edu/wp-content/uploads/shooting_sports_rules_rifle_air_silhouette.pdf).

Briefly, standard 1/10 scale silhouette chickens, rams, pigs, etc are engaged in 5-shot groups at 10, 12.5, 15, and 20 yard distances for 2 rounds with less than 12 FPE air guns. No animals were harmed…..

Results:
Sheppard M. dominated with 17 points shooting an old Beeman single stroke pneumatic adorned with a red dot, sporting a funky weaver-like stance.
Robert D. eked out 2nd place with 12 points using his old FT rig, a Crosman 1720T with 12x scope, sporting the famous Taco hold.
Glen D. DNF, he warmed up with a beautiful new-to-him 10 meter rifle, but seeing the elite competition he was facing, developed a gun malfunction…..

We all had loads of fun and look forward to seeing this competition grow.

Its called a Chapman Stance but funky weaver is catchy!

Other  Extreme Big bore .457

Finally got my extreme big bore .457 this one was built in 2017 2nd one brent hoag built in 2017 I chrongraphed it at 4100 psi 751 fps with a 350 grain slug I know it has more in it. Brent hoag definitely knows how to build one hell of a gun it's built like a tank now deer season needs to hurry up! Lol I'm gonna do some 3 shot groups at 50 yards today and see how she does currently it's sighted in for 30 yards since that's how far I am from my deer feeder and it's hole in hole at 30 yards. But 30 yards isn't much.

Matching slugs to barrels- A perspective

Sizing the slug correctly for a particular barrel is important, but before that, picking a slug and barrel that produce a reasonable stability factor should be the primary selection criteria. Pellets are very forgiving as far as twist rate. Slugs are not. These days, I don’t usually bother with slugs that don’t give me a reasonable value when run through a stability/twist rate calculator. So most every slug I try gives at least decent accuracy.
@Scotchmo Can you elaborate on the twist rate calculator? I have not used one.

Burris Signature Rings the only way to go.....

I ended up buying the Gunsmith container that has like 15 of each insert in a nice plastic box. Back when I put on air rifle Matches ...it was the norm for the guys to bring there gun up and we shimmed till we got nearest bullet hole . amazing how far off some of these guns were.....

N/A  Utah Airguns Cleaning House (Bargains?)

Thanks for pointing that out TMH!
I almost went off half cocked. :ROFLMAO:
I definitely want a barrel longer than 12".
The airforce outlet store has the Escape UL (18" barrel) @ $$543 heck of a lot of power short light and accurate w/lifetime warranty. I own one and it is overkill even at 70 yards on the largest marmots you've ever seen.

Umarex  Polishing ports

380mm barrel 2 30cc plenum extensions i couldn't find my burette to measure the gauge block so I'm not sure

yes went from 22g at 130 bar to 25g at 150 Ish bar
thanks for taking the time to explain that makes sense I'm learning boss I'm learning

You sure have a lot of plenum! 60cc extension + the 25cc on the block if I understand correctly, for a total of 85cc?

You gained FPE with minimal FPS change due to increasing your pellet weight, while also bumping the regulator. Hope that clears it up.
