Club 500 !!!!!

Well I finally was able to prep my 12 inch gong and drag it out to 500 yards. Unfortunately in my hast and the 12 min time limit on the field I miscalculated and it turns out it was 457 yards. Wind was just starting to pick up so this was best I could do at the time. I still had fun.

Doing some experiments with my little bottle filled with helium.

The view from 457 yards back to the table.

And the shots.

3 out of 5 shots. I believe these were the 60 gr queens out of the .25 700mm slug. 1:16?

Daystate Experience Day 2024 - Slideshow

Maybe they need a target that size that will fall @12ftlb @55 yds. S&S Targets have been tested as the most adjustable Long Range Targets on the planet. Peykan B. shot his 12Ftlb Gun @ 57 yds more than 10 times in a row at one of the night matches in Phoenix, AZ. I also have a video of the deer repeatedly going down @100yds @ 20ftlb of muzzle energy. These targets are going on four years of sub-sonic .22 rimfire being used alongside pellets and slugs. The Range @PRGC has gone eight events without cold lines or target failures. The last cold line was light that went out at 1 of our night events. We also have new patent pending design that is both Electric and mechanically reative.

New .30 Impact 30 shoot magazine that fits in the factory breach

This has been on Mrshosteds mind for some time. I have been shooting with him a lot over the last few years and was the fist person to test this concept out with him.
When shooting in competitions, it’s easy to loose track of which targets you’ve hit, especially after a mag change. Having a larger capacity mag is a game changer.
As one of the people who are testing this beta version out, I can say that: The mag clicks into place nicely, it’s secure in the mag well, and the pellets feed out smoothly, even with speed shooting.

Pellet trap target

rubber horse mat or something hanging in the chute.
I've read that works well. I've used truck mud flaps in the past, cut vertically most of the way up from the bottom (so they become hanging strips). That way they can sway a bit more, helping to dissipate energy. Use 2 rows, with the cuts offset from each other to greatly reduce the odds of a pellet or slug slipping between strips. I used a scrap, thick aluminum plate in the very back as a backstop.

3D Printed Scope Camera Mount

Recently I've been getting back into 3D printing so I decided to make a scope mount for my phone mostly as a design exercise.

It works admirably for having no major design revisions. Only problems so far is attaching the tube to the scope in a perfectly square and level way which is why the footage has a slight cant to it.

[Resolved] What should/could I use to record video down the scope of my Maruader?

You can buy them pretty easily. Just google optical prism. I forget the full name of the style needed to split the image and direct it at a 90 degree angle.
Yeah, I was just hinting to anybody that sees this in the future :p In the US it seems easier to find if you search it as a "50/50 Beamsplitter"

Other  Newbie first post -with a lame shoulder, is there hope for me to hunt deer?

I used to hunt deer with homemade bows. One year I injured my shoulder and had to use an Excalibur Exocet crossbow, something like that may be an option for you.

Some of the modern crossbows are extremely effective and may be worth looking at.

Cheers!

Airgun Technologies  Brand new Urugan 2 delivered with deep scratch on CF bottle 🙀

I don't think carbon fiber goes white when scratched, but the epoxy / laminate layer probably does, meaning that it is more likely the scratches depth hasn't reached the critical layers withholding HPA inside the bottle.

Sig Sauer  Which co2 Pellet Gun

I have the M17. It’s fun. Trigger could stand some improvement. It’s just a 7 yard gun for entertainment. It’s neat that the slide cycles and is semi auto. You get what you pay for, it was $90+-.
My Diana CO2 is definitely better but is also bolt action single shot, definitely more accurate.

Benjamin  [RESOLVED] Are these good picks as my first Marauder .22 pellets?

You have a lot of great advice here to which I can only agree. My experience with pointed pellets (other than predators) has
generally, been negative. They look effective but have not been very accurate. Predators have frequently been very accurate (and rather expen$ive).

N/A  Three Shot Groups for me Going Forward…

You can up your game with the one shot groups if you have the room. But it’s not necessary if it’s out of the intended use of the gun. For years, once I get a gun dialed, I will test it for weeks or even months. There has to be either a distance or a timeframe when the gun will finally let me down. I’ve never done it with a pellet gun but all my slug guns must pass the test. Or at the very least I will find out the guns limitations. Then go from there.

I start at 50 yards. After a week and a tiny little group appearing at 50, I move to 75 yards. After one shot a day or every other day and another little group, I move to 100. If things get a little weird once I’m out there at 100, 115 or 135 yards, I might move the target back in 10 yards at a time to see if I can pinpoint when the gun or me went off the rails. It’s a fun way to finalize a gun and there are not tons of slugs and cleaning regimens involved.

The skunk gun I mentioned is beyond 150 yards solid. But I have another one that I don’t sweat a true cold shot at 135. That’s where I kinda stopped my testing because I don’t have a need for a longer cold shot with that gun. Same with my .22. I’m currently and casually testing a .30. I’ve done plenty of shooting out to 200 yards but now it’s time to see how the gun behaves without foreplay. Lots of guns do great once you get their juices flowing but stink otherwise. They can go back to being a plinking pellet gun as far as I’m concerned.

N/A  All Hits - No Misses! Is this the future of airguns?

There's still work to be done here. Chassis or testicle (tactical) guns need to be made a bit neater without all the knobs and protrusions sticking out. How about a feature on the buttplate to attach a monopod?
Just wanted to say that this cracked me up.

Results  Desoto Airgunners (FL) BR Match Report July 14, 2024

Great to see the Desoto Club still shooting there in Fl. Do you still go out for lunch after the match? We certainly enjoyed ourselves every time we shot there. Excellent shooting there Bill. If you would, could we have the last names of the shooters, the cal. and class so we will know who not to compete against. Thank you. Doug and Vipha
