.25cal 33 grain king heavy speeds for 100yd bench-rest?

Every barrel, every bore, bore type, length, twist, choke, you name it they all shoot everything different from one another pretty much. There are very few universally loved pellets for each caliber. You have done well to find one that shoots well enough to please you. A big win.

Super cool. Swap the stuff out and shoot most anything. I admit it's tempting.

You are trying to lure me in. I'm trying to keep the devil down in a hole.

I'll have one. The curandera told me an FX rifle was in my future. I'm not sure how far in the future. You Florida guys with your big lizards are shortening the time line for sure.

I'd like to shoot a few first. I always buy and then move up. I'd like to cut to the chase and get what I need up front. That's going to take some research and connection.

I met a guy here I think cam get my feet wet with PCPs. Hopefully we'll have a chance to chew the fat.

I have scuba tanks and access to a breathing air compressor. So it's not all uphill. I'll shoot a few, do some research and get me one pretty soon. It just looks fun and blurs the line between the powder rifles and the springer. It's a really neat deal.

BSA  I finally got a springer

I would go to a 14.3 - 15 gr pellet. If you can do this it may help. I don't shoot my springers often anymore, and when I do I have trouble with consistency. I set cans and golf balls 2-30 yards away and start plinking offhand. This helps me with hold and follow through. Once you can consistently hit what you aim at try grouping it again. Just a suggestion.

HW/Weihrauch  Reminder to check those springs, gents.

That's exactly what I would do except the tune kit would probably be at the house before the gun actually arrived 😆. With the exception of my first Weihrauch I don't think any of the others have had more than 20 shots through them before the factory springs were replaced
I did the same but after I shot the factory gun out of the box for a while. I still have my factory 77K spring even though I sold the rifle, it was getting over 900fps with a 7.9 premier with a o-ring piston seal and custom guides.
Point is you shouldn't have to do anything to a new rifle but shoot it for 50K pellets or whatever. A young boy isn't going to do any tuning, he just wants to shoot and hunt with the rifle. 🤷🏼‍♂️

.30 cal Fx Hybrids and RMR slugs

Isn't this simply a case of how fast that your slugs are leaving the barrel?
No, we are not actually talking about ballistics at this point. We are talking about mis-information, poor standardized testing/reporting procedures, bad inter-company communications, and why everyone lets this slide. Your own testing will always be right for you, but how products are represented is up to the companies.

RMR, supplier and maker of the FX Hybrid .30 caliber has one number, FX had printed another number on their box, Element (FX) ballistic software uses the original RMR bc. Huh? WTH Talk to each other people!

I find them to be .07 in my gun, just like the FX box says, but that's just me.

Skout Airguns Feature Friday

This is a good idea and a 3rd party already tried this in paintball for high end guns. The shipping costs destroyed the value of the service. It didn't last long. I shipped an air gun from Florida to California. I think it was around $70 with insurance and signature confirmation. Boom! There went my profit.
The customer should pay the shipping and insurance. I'd rather spend 200 than 2800 and not like it. If you going to balk at 200 to try it out then you probably shouldn't buy a 2800 air gun

Air Ventiri The Hill EC-3000

Some people have wonderful luck with the Hill pumps. My personal experience is quite the opposite. Between the two pumps I maybe got 20 minutes out of them. Bought a CS4 and love it. Bought an EK5 from GX and love it even more.

Whichever one you go with buy it from a reputable dealer so if something goes wrong you can return it with ease. PA offers free returns and are really good about it.

Haloson DRS Thermal Availability

Might try calling their Holosun on it's release date/time. I got in touch with the tech and design department back when these sights first came out at ShotShow and suggested that they married the new technology in with a small prism scope design for a broader market. They were receptive to the idea, so we'll see.

Small Cottontail Meets GK1 .25, A Somewhat Bloody Affair

Pistols are not easy for pest control. Sadly I realize that pursuit of pest with a pistol has to be limited kuz I just don’t see as well.

On top of that, if I touched off a GK1 without a mod I would’ve helicopters overhead in minutes.
So 5-6 fpe wadcutter, Match Lights for the 1701 and 1741. Both right around 600 fps or so.

FX Impact M4 In Stock, DRS Pro, And Altaros Slugs

I just want to say how pleased I am with my M4 and the outstanding service that Tony has provided. I put a PARD thermal on the rifle along with the upgrades of the Sabre Tactical Arca rail and bag rider. I chose the DonnyFL moderator that I had on hand for the extra volume which translates to a quieter air rifle.

Here are some groups that I shot with thermal scope attached at 25 yards. The targets were small square pieces of metal tape which gives off a different heat signature when the sun is shining. The words, "air gun" and "wind" should not be used together in the same sentence. So I could have got better groups without the little gusts to contend with.

I have to confess that I had an operator-induced malfunction with the rifle. It was totally my fault and I contacted Tony who went all out to repair the gun and get it back to me within a few days. He's a miracle worker.

When I got it back I decided to install a night vision scope to put the thermal scope on something else. This group was shot at 50 yards and the winds were a little stronger and a little more variable than the groups above. With that in mind, I am still extremely impressed with the rifle.

DNT Optics ThermNight TNC225R

You may not need the riser I will get you some photos and details tonight. I sold the atomic and replaced it with the uragan compact but I still have the sniper xr same layout so it will show what I want.
You SOLD the Atomic? How much? I am selling mine and my Brocock/Brk Commander XR Magnum in Cerakote and selling the RAW Micro too. Just sticking to my FX Dynamic Block PCP and my XM1s. Too many Pcps and I am finally sorting it down to primarily FX Dynamic Block PCP.

FX  So you don’t own an impact….

Never preorder anything that’s brand new. Let the general public have at it first for a month or so. They identify all the issues and manufacturers address them and even make design changes to what ever it may be. I go by this rule on about everything especially anything as intricate as airguns can be sometimes. I will also go to immense trouble sometimes to avoid having to order and wait on something to arrive. I will pay more for something if I can go pick it up and hold it and look it over good. That is getting more and more difficult to do and impossible practically with airguns though.
Yes, then the gorillas in the brown trucks can't bounce it around and the porch pirates have nothing to steal.

GX CS4 Overheating issue

I'm a retired mechanical engineer and have learned my lessons by burning out several HPA hand pumps and electric compressors over the years, primarily due to inefficient cooling of the components. Burn out a hand pump? I hooked mine up to a foot lever so I could just step up and then ride it down with the full weight of my body. Burned out 2 hand pumps that way before I finally bought an Axor compressor back in the 90s(?). I needed to wrap flexible tubing around the piston assembly on that one and run cold water through it or else it would seize from overheating.

30 years later we have small compressors like the GX CS4 and GX CS4-I which can actually fill 6L bottles without burning out, assuming that they can run cool enough. The easiest way to cool a CS3 or 4 series compressor with the removable red case is to start by simply removing the case. Then put a high-power (like 900cfm) directional fan on one side, positioned to blow air through the compressor and across the motor and piston assemblies. This keeps the exposed metal parts in the compressor cool and the water in the tank only mildly warm to the touch. There is simply no practical way to extract that much heat from the compressor without removing the case which holds in most of the heat.

The obvious drawback to this approach is that the 2 carry handles on the CX4 compressors are attached to the top of the case. It's a hassle to move the compressor with the case off and a (relatively minor) irritation to need to screw the case back on for transport. What I did was to cut away the bottom portion of both sides of the case, just below the central screw holes which hold the metal case to the front/rear frame. As you can kind of see from the attached picture, that exposes the entire motor assembly and the base of the piston assembly. The rectangular output vent on the fan (a 700cfm Masterforce 1/6hp Air Mover) is sized correctly to focus airflow through the compressor. I liked the fan so much for general around the house that I got a 2nd one and now use 2 of them to make a vortex of air around the inside of the compressor. I could have cut away one or both entire sides of the case, just leaving the top with handles screwed into the frame, but preferred the partial cuts in the case which fit the output vent on the fans.

I don't recommend that anyone else damage their compressor by cutting the case like this. Retired hobbbiests often cut up things for fun, or as they will usually claim, in search of 'improvements'. The main point of this is that you can increase the life of a compressor by reducing heat buildup. The water pump in the CS4 series removes much of the heat. But to dampen it down considerably more you would need to expose the metal internals of the compressor by removing some or all of the metal cover/case, and then blowing high-velocity air across the inside of the compressor to take away the extra heat.

I recently replaced that gold water condenser tower with a 2nd filter cylinder. And added a couple of one-way valves with drain vents which can keep both of the desiccant cylinders pressurized when the compressor and hoses are depressurized to switch bottles or guns. That's a different topic though. I ruined my CX3 by letting it overheat and overwork itself, and I don't plan to let this CS4 die the same way.
