Flip up Scope covers

I have a couple of scopes without covers and this thread got me on Amazon looking at the various brands you all have mentioned, Butler Creek, Monstrum etc. I stumbled across this brand of flip-up style and ended up ordering some for the scopes. Much cheaper than Arken's offering and they fold flat against the scope when opened.

We'll see how they hold up with the funky hinge design. I measured my ocular and objective diameters and rounded up to the nearest mm in sizes offered. All fit snuggly once adjusted with the included shim tape.

NEW DNT ZULUS vs. OLD ARKEN ZULUS ...New Firmware Update with Improvements.

Hi brawler
Many thanks for your help, I have now got it working after finding a YouTube video, the problem was me, as I thought it would be, I upgraded the scope firmware and in the ballistic options I thought that where it says OFF that I somehow had to make that change to say ON before the calculator would be active, I didn't realise that what ever was highlighted in blue was actually active, so I kept scrolling to the off and pressing buttons to change it and it obviously just kept flicking back to the menu screen😂 it was driving me nuts
Thanks again
Ian

Sherwood Airgunners July 21 2024 FT match report

Thanks for sharing the pictures!
Looks excellent. Starting t the TVA club them the GOB & Invicta I didn't realize how spoiled I was until I saw some of the left coast shooting in what looked like a gravel parking lot (gun range). Also if you do not have elevation well that's no way to learn (Brad and his extension ladder along with steep deep down hills with a rushing creek just abit before the target (can you say drift) just adds so much to the fun and learning. Roz's when shooting the course sitting on a rock in the middle of a flowing creek one target one direction then you had to turn 180 degrees for the next was a hoot also, and everyone loved the "easy" 25 yard Bluebird IF the understood just how elevated it was.
Certainly wish we had FT in WA! (there is 1 but 450 miles one way is just a bit much) .

Looks like a dream course to me. And thank you again for sharing.

HW/Weihrauch  HW70 Weirdness

I have purchased parts from Mr Wilnecker, it was a front sight for a crosman v-350 bb gun and he has done some work for Tom Gaylord. All of the interactions that I have had with him were positive.
I believe the difference between the two pistols is in the piston and that you have two choices, have a seal made or change to the newer piston. He did not ask me which I had and quoted one price.
Thanks, I’ll try him for this job.

FX Pocket Chrono Question

I can't resist. My cheap Chinese chronographs almost never miss a shot indoors or outside. Mine were about $20 each. There is now a more expensive one ($100) that screws on like a moderator. It can be calibrated if you have a known accurate chronograph and want your "cheap" one to give the same readings. Sub 12 airgunner did a review on youtube.

Ready at a moments notice

Is there any harm to the tank in leaving a PCP tank full for extended periods of time (months/year+) ? I'm just wondering if long-term it should be stored empty to reduce potential strain on the tank, seals, or valve. Hopefully it's fine - not a concern. Thank you.
Most likely with pcp unless it is a skout no issues. The skout guns are to be stored empty.

Edit you can turn off the valve while stored and before you shoot turn it on.

Sub-MOA Barrels

that sounds HEAVY but for BR i'm guessing thats a good thing
I guess that would be relative to what one is used to hefting? The Evol and most other airguns are relatively light. Putting an all steel fluted barrel on an Evol would put it in the vicinity of average weight of a powder burner hunting rifle, but capable of winning benchrest matches. It is probably going to be good contender for the NLR22 matches too.

Water oil separator’s with Gxcs4 will this setup work

I run one inline TUXING moisture filter "just in case" in my compressor setup. Probably don't need even this as here in California there is not much, if any, moisture in the air especially during the summer, kind of the same as in Texas. We get only one month of rain here when I don't shoot anyway, so no problem with moisture getting into my PCPs :). But I really dig @Bigbuckairgunner39's makeshift setup, duct tape is the way to go (y).
Thanks buddy!:)

Benjamin  Two questions for Marauder owners.

You will need to go over on GTA and just start a thread in the PCP (Darkside) forum, the owner will pop in. Problem with being 70 yo is that sometimes I forget who gave me what. The program is free, just ask on GTA. I did hunt for my link but cannot find it right now.

If I implied you were ignorant it certainly was not intentional so no need to ask for forgiveness and forgive me if I did :).

BTW, you do not need a fancy spread sheet to tune a rifle. I use note cards and a sight in target stuck on my stock to remind me of the rifle and I use a note book the old fashioned way during the tuning process:

You do not need to make it hard. But talk is talk, data is where the rubber hits the road, it tells the story, fancy ballistic program or a old tattered and greasy notebook, both work. When I take the rifle out, I review the cards, set them in the rack where the rifle came from and go shoot pests that need shooting at.

Edit to add, I am on a Mac and I live in the i-world. My subscription to MSO has expired and I am either too lazy or too non-tech to learn to use open source substitutes and too cheap to renew my MSO subscription and no way in Hades will I ever return to the Windows-world. Thus a notebook and a pen.
Hey man, sorry I missed your reply here :) thanks so much for the info and the images. I appreciate your insight.

Didn't mean to ignore ya

Gamo  .

Gamo swarm magnum cant be beat for the price. Has power and accuracy. Pcp will out gun it at long ranges of course(50+ yards) but for 300$ or less if its on sale or with a coupon, yea theres no comparison there. Plus you can shoot all day with it as long as you have the ammo and the arm strength to cock it. Cant do that with a pcp unless youre wearing scuba gear. Even against other breakbarrels or springers the magnum stands at the Pinnacle. If you think it has too much fps put a heavier pellet and youll even get the benefit of a higher fpe. If it doesnt have enough fps put in a 14-16gr pellet and it will still get you close to 30fpe with a flatter tragectory.

FX  Impact M3 Tuning Advice

This is about right I think. I had a 700mm mk2 in .30 that at a 120 bar did a little closer to 900 but not much. Where I left it. I would first open the valve limiter up well past line 4. Bump the reg up to 125 bar and ease the hammer spring up as you shoot over an chrono and see how much of a velocity climb you can get. Go up small amounts so as not to go way past the sweet spot. Why you don’t want to crank the reg up a bunch at a time either. At some point you will hit a reg pressure that a stock m3 won’t open the valve effectively. Once you hit that top speed then slowly close the valve limiter until the velocity drops a little. That is usually a good spot. When you start all this just remember to have that valve limiter opened up as you don’t want that to be the limiting factor when you start tuning you want it being a limiting factor only at the end.
