Is airgun interest going away?

2016, 2018, and 2020 were probably some of the biggest years for airgunning and 2/3 of those were an election year...basically 2016-2020 was peak airgunning territory, so seeing a decline from that peak gives the perception that airgun interest is going away, because...well it has compared to those golden years, before product over-saturation and inflation set in.

Today there are easily 20 $2,000-$2,500 pcp options, if you wanna dabble you better have deep pockets, where as 8 years ago you had a handful of options at that price point, and your pockets need not be as deep.

How does the HW 30S compare to the HW 50S? 0.22 versus 0.25?

The Weihrauch HW95 Luxus is looking pretty good. Would it be better in a 0.25 or 0.22? In a 0.20 or 0.177, I think I would get too many pass-throughs on small critters but, I am open to hearing differing thoughts. All 4 seem to be listed as 20J which is 14.75ft/lb so reasonable thump for critters in general.

Krale shows only the 0.177 and 0.22 and AoA shows all 4 calibers as a pre-order with them being ~$100 more as well.

I have a .20 caliber HW95 Luxus, great rifle in beech. For pesting, I vote for .22 caliber. Pellets go from 11 grains all the way up to 34 grains. Lightweight wadcutters would really put the smack down.

Mind Blowing $1100 THERMAL Hunting Scope (Video Review) DNT Optics ThermNight

Anyone have the next series up in the DNT the 335? Looks to have better specs and is about 1 1/2 times more than the 225.
I just took delivery of the 335 model. I have not had a chance to put it through its paces yet, but so far I am impressed with its fit and finish. The user interface is a massive improvement over the x-sight 5 3-15 LRF unit I have been using for night pest work. It is very easy and quick to navigate. The thermal and digital night/day optics focus down to less than 5 yards, and the LRF will grab and compute a firing solution at this distance (5 yards). I have not input ballistic data for my pest rig yet, so I am not sure if the firing solution will even be capable of being displayed at this range. After zeroing, a very close firing solution might be outside of the digital sensors gaze given the large height over bore of the digital day/night side of the optic. The lcd display is very good in comparison to the x-sight 5. The focus dials are very smooth, however the thermal focus is a bit awkward to use, especially if the included sunshade is installed on the day/night objective. I don’t know who designed the new included objective cap for the thermal at DNT, but they need to go back to the drawing board. The best, if not only viable position it can be utilized in is to flip down and lay flat. This isn’t possible unless the optic is attached to one of its included bases in a very specific way. The only configuration I have found that would allow for this is to use the 20moa base and locate the optic in the front most 4 mounting holes. This configuration however will probably not work for most because the optic would more that likely be mounted to far forward on most rifle systems. I will probably replace it with something else, or design and 3d print one that accomplishes what I want it to. Overall I am happy with it and looking forward to doing some pesting with it soon.

Snowpeak  Max 1 -- I'm drooling

Racing,
I'd love to see you take a Max1 or a Zelos apart to work on. Your posts and work are always very well done. Really liked you BSA R10 post.
Hey thx!
That thing.. has been used loads lately, and finally got a CF bottle on 500cc´s at that. A 300 bar one.

Have it running around the 100J/73fpe mark approx where it seems to thrive. This might sound weird being me, but it kind of feels done. Just plain delivers n shoots 22cal slugs like was it going out of style.

Seeing all i´ve bolted on there, the scope especially, if there´s one thing i wish for it´s that i could make it 2lbs less in weight.
Buuut... i´ll survive.
The scaly tails will certainly not :ROFLMAO:

R10 SE .22 first hunt

Glad to see you're still hanging in there, and 5 in one hour? SALUTE!!!

Nice looking BSA as well - Those seem to get overlooked, maybe the lack of sidelever? I wish they made a lefty version.

You have inspired me to go out again tomorrow in the AM.

I've had COVID twice, it will certainly wring a person out like a dishrag.

STAY WELL!
Steve Ive had it twice now, 1st time was in Feb 2020 right after they started talking about it, girlfriend went to Gulf Shores with daughter and brought it back and gave it to me. I was super sick then also but this time its just hanging on, Doc told me this version is lasting a lot longer then the others. Good luck in the morning, I may go again in morning if I feel like it. Squirrels were moving like crazy this morning could see them everywhere I looked.

Other  Artemis CP400 modification

I modified my CP400 using an undetachable SS tank 12g and it can works on 190bar pressure. The velocity is around 500fps and it can shoots two magazines for over 300fps. All spring has been replaced with SS and are stronger to work on this pressure. With thirty pump's actions is ready for rock an roll. And i sell it. The gun is new one, i test it with one tin pellets

Tuning my Alpha Wolf, help please..

My issue is, that in advanced mode I have been told to set BAR pressures to optimal, and also to a few above minimum and the adjust voltage and or dwell to get it right.🤔
There is a big difference from optimal to a few above minimum BAR setting. Shouldn't one be better than the other, or shouldn't one be the correct way. In my black and white mind, it's making no sense.
I have emailed Daystate and will post their reply, thanks for the replies.
I would suggest to experiment various settings of all variables.

Seeking 3-9(ish), w/turrets, hopefully parallax adj, for less than $200. Doable?

The cheapest I would recommend is the Hawke Vantage 3-9 with mil dot reticle and adjustable parallax (but no knob it is on the objective lens area). Amazon had the airmax for only $10 more. $140 and $150. I use the 2-7 Vantage on my Prod and I think it is a nice scope. Holds zero. Adjusts OK. I have not needed the warranty but Hawke's reputation for warranty coverage is good.

I like my Vector Veyron 6-24 SFP more, however. Krale is the only place I know you can get the SFP which I think is important so you can use 6X. Price is $185 but shipping adds over $30. Parallax and reticle illumination is on the side. Good glass for the money and nicely compact.

I only paid about $200 for my Athlon Talos 6-24, also SFP. It is not as small and light as the Veyron but the glass is a little better, I think. You'd need to catch a good sale too get it for $200. I haven't needed to use the warranty from Athlon either but their reputation is also great.

Yes, Huben Power Dream Universal Regulator. Drop block allows a larger diameter bottle to be used. Up to *some* 2L bottles. I'm using a Tuxing 1.1L.

To use the Dream regulator requires cutting a section of the fore stock off. Just forward of the hand grip.
