Rare airguns ?

I'm sure anyone into antique airgun are familiar with the German Bugelspanners (trigger guard lever gallery guns) made by Oscar Will. Much more rare are the ones made by Oscar's brother, Julius. Julius stamped his guns with a fancy 'J' superimposed over a 'W' just below the serial number. Here's SN #1, looking it's 100+ years of age, but still boasting a lot of original engraved nickel plating and intact silver floral inlay on the top of the barrel near the breech.

Crosman  Breath New Life into Crosman 2240

a shroud should be in the 1 inch OD most in the past were and the should itself with the right tools is easy rear cap barrel end support and an end cap
the space between the barrel and tube are very small a 7/16 ID to 1/2 OD tube will barely fit
now were back to the breech and that is the key
you are late to the 2240 party most of the small vendors have died or disappeared
Alliance Hobby is the only big player anymore
https://alliancehobby.com/newaluminumbreech.htm
but the problem is the breech it has to be raised and there are none that i know of now
there had been some on Ebay from over seas ate very high prices but they came a went
you would want something like this, this one is in my herd

Other  Break Barrel VS. Underlever

I did not actually weigh them just picked up to compare. The 57 is lighter than a 35n and about the same as a 30, I do not have a 50 to compare there.
Here is a comparison of some specs from the old yellow forum a few years back

"Chrony numbers: both in .177...
HW50S HW57

CPL: 758 FPS 795 FPS
FTS: 745 FPS 757 FPS
JSB: 760 FPS 785 FPS

Some folks have reported loading tap misallignment problems with the HW57 although both of mine (.177 & .22) have been working flawlessly...the HW 57 is easier to cock being an underlever...a lot of tuners work with the HW50S so possibilities are almost endless...accuracy is about the same for both...just gotta find the pellet each rifle likes..but...they are really two different animals...if I had to have just one of the two, I'd pick the HW50S..."
It looks like the 57had a slight velocity advantge, although I would like to see some other numbers comparing the two.
I'm thinking the 57 and the 50 are same swept volume. Both are 26mm pistons and the kits are interchangeable. They're both approximately 12 fpe guns. You can have two of the same guns set up the same way and one will out perform the other. My 50 currently shoots JSB 8.44 exacts 785-800.

BTW a hw35 is a tank. It's two pounds heavier on a scale than a 50. The 57 being lighter than a 35 isn't saying much. The bigger and more powerful Hw95 is noticeably lighter than a 35. I doubt the 57 weighs the same as a 30. A good shipping scale will tell the truth because published weights are often wrong. None of this matters if your happy with your 57s. I'm happy that you are. What size groups do they shoot at 25 yards?

FX  FX Crown Accuracy Issue ?

Just curious why you disapprove with the use of a wire brush.,.are you meaning mild/stainless wire in a brush? If so you are spot on. But brass? Brass will not hurt a steel barrel
Gun barrels are made from relatively soft steel. You ask any BR shooter, whether airgun, rimfire, or centerfire, and I doubt you'll find anyone who uses brass brushes. If you must, use a nylon bristle brush. I don't use brushes at all, Just patches wet with Ballistol. That gets all the residue out. If it doesn't , then the barrel should be polished with JB bore paste. I don't understand why FX gets by with so many bad barrels. I sent two liners back and they agreed to replace them. It was done rather quietly on their part.

A real treat for Sheridan lovers!

Tell me about your scope mount set up, pretty please!
yes I think its the same as Bakers. -- here his link

Umarex  post removed for new information

Umarex LEDGNDS auto C02 BB guns Magazine Wear Issues:
August 15h, 2025

Umarex M1A1 Follower Wear: The part that pushes the BBs up, the follower, is also subject to increased wear and tear with the rapid cycling in full auto mode. These issues may exist with the other UMAREX auto Legends BB guns e.g. MP40 and M3a1 Grease gun co2 BB guns.

Are there known magazine issues when using full auto?

Yes
, there are some known magazine issues that can arise when using full auto with the Umarex M1A1 BB gun, or airsoft guns in general, due to the increased stress placed on the magazine's internal components:

I. Feeding Issues

(a) BBs not feeding smoothly:
The increased rate of fire in full auto can sometimes lead to BBs getting jammed or not feeding consistently. This can be caused by problems with the magazine's spring, follower, or even alignment with the follower also demonstrates troubleshooting and potential fixes for feeding issues related to the magazine.

(b) Worn Feed Lips: The rapid action of full auto can exert extra pressure on the magazine's feed lips (white metal), potentially leading to deformation.

(c) Sear deforming the top bolt: This cause is from the steel sear contact with the White Metal or Pot Metal) bolt. The bolt (entire top of the M1A1) which is made of White Metal and is soft.

II. Magazine Durability and Components

(a) Spring Fatigue:
The spring within the magazine, responsible for pushing the BBs upwards, can fatigue more quickly with constant full-auto firing, leading to weaker feeding and potential failures.

(b) Stuck Magazines: In some cases, a BB or component might become dislodged and cause the magazine to get stuck in the gun, especially when using full auto and handling the gun carelessly.

Altaros dominates at WFAL match in Eden, Utah

Thanks Mike. I want to call out that Monte’s Monster mags were really helpful and worked flawlessly. It was really nice not to have to worry about loading mags.

David Stevenson ran an extremely fun match and topped it off with a great dinner. The EFT was my favorite.

Steyr  Steyr Hunting 5A

Just a quick update as i´m heading out..

Moved the sear point on the hammer them 3mm. Then used a to "mellow" hammer spring (on 1.25mm dia wire vs 1.4, which is what i´ve got in mind for starters) and with a reg pressure of approx 140 bar i´m seeing approx 75-80J (55-59fpe).
To be honest it´s as i regard it to early in the tuning process to make any real assumptions as such but we´re no doubt heading the right direction.

It´s auto reloading too from what it seems, at least as output power goes up.

Want to play around more with both reg pressure and hammer spring asap.

FX  DRS Tactical Selector/Safety

Long/short could someone at FX consider manufacturing a selector for the DRS Tactical that operates as the AR-15 platform it is patterned after? I bought one of these and like it but having decades of experience with the M16/AR-15 platform I can say the reversed configuration on the DRS Tactical is problematic for those of us who have the “muscle memory” ingrained into us. This has personally caused me some issues when shooting the rifle and I have to take extra care to remind myself “safe” isn’t safe on this thing. At least with my Impact M3 I was able to buy an M2 selector to swap out but I haven’t seen an equivalent for the DRS.

Akela .22 Ranch Rat Rifle

I have Zelos with a 500 cc bottle , and a after market double mag that holds 18 rounds each side. The Zelos
would be a great pesting gun , and with an adjustable regulator you can use different pellets , or slugs in my .22 cal I use 28 grain HP dish base slugs moving at 855 , but that's all for target fun I'm just too old to hunt , and don't kill animals anymore. You would love the Zelos it's a Tactical Bullpup.
