Other  Pistol shooting

Do they limit the rimfire to .22LR? Are .17HM2 and .17HMR allowed?
As beerthief noted, the rules specify .22lr. And .177 cal is required for airgun disciplines.

Remember that when shooting paper targets, the highest ring touched is what counts, so a smaller-diameter bullet would be a disadvantage. A .22 that just nicked the 9-ring, for example, might score an 8 with a .17.

Also, high-level matches are shot with expensive match-grade ammo, specifically tailored to the 25M pistol event. I'm not sure if comparable stuff is made in .17?

Skout  Skout epoch

I haven't tried any of the Grands yet,. I do have several tins.
I have to give it a try
I'm debating the distance and what ammo to shoot at this weekends match. Zan 33's did fine at 50 but Grands were still better. More speed testing to be done there. Slugs will hold up better at 75/100 yards though if I can get them dialed in.

Air Arms  T200 trigger and bolt

I recently got a CZ200 and the bolt was super sticky. Turns out the screw that interfaces between the bolt and the cocking lever was bent (but I can imagine the same thing happening with the equivalent screw that interfaces the cocking lever and hammer). Replacing that made a world of difference

FX  Fx impact amp reg. Washer stacking

I don't recommend using different thickness of washers, the reasoning is, the thinner ones will over work when compressed, the thicker the washer stack, the more pressure you can develop. Also nestling two washers makes the sum thicker, almost takes it out of the equation IMHO. Points of contact need to be polished a little and all washers need to be lubed with real lube, not silicon. Nothing bad will happen with a good grade synthetic. My shot cycle is in seconds as in 3.7 on both of my Mavs, .22 and .25. Now if you want something flat.... Ok, I'm cheating, it's my Raptor with the new improved valve, but my Mavs are pretty darn close. Note, these are 30 gr AEA slugs. YMMV with pellets or other projectiles. MY SD is best across the board with AEA pellets/slugs.

it came with 3 different thicknesses but was a little rachety and recovery was like 10-14 sec
so, i bought a bunch of washers 10x 4.2 from 30 to 70 and measured with my mic and used matched sets swapped out the 50 to 54 thickness beveled and polished both sides.
it works mint recovery is 1/2 the time 5 - 7 seconds i did a 25-shot count from cold in 32 degrees out
here was the results

NSA .20/18.9 expansion experiment

Couldn't leave it alone....

Sharpened the four vanes of the Philips and was able to make deeper grooves, still just pushing against my thumb so no deformation of the base.

Here's a couple...

And fired one of the newest iteration into a five gallon bucket full to the brim.

So left to right is: unmodified into soap @ 93 yards, slight Philips indentations into soap at 93 yards, deep indentations into 5 gallon bucket at 2 feet from muzzle...

And yes it does have a somewhat square shape, photo taken from perspective of the base of the pellet shows how it petaled along the four indentations.

Pretty sweet!

which bottle 'strategy' with new compressor

thanks all of you for helping me out! I appreciate your comments and information.

So first thing that seems clear is indeed not charging the airguns directly. A powerful compressor could likely overshoot the maximum capacity. So bottle it is. Probably a large bottle to start (i was thinking 9l, as 12l seems less practical and less common to find in stores). This would allow for longer runs of the compressor.
@Gerry52 I get indeed that tethering is tethering regardless of the size. But i was referring to the size for portability: a small i.e. 2l tank is more practical to lug to the garden than a large 9l one. So for tethering I'd prefer a smaller one. But as per @AlanMcD 's comment, better to start with a big tank and expand later on in the smaller ones.

@AlanMcD thanks for elaborating on your practice. You're right about the speed I guess. My current shoebox puts out about 10l/min. It bothered me a little to be honest because it forced 15min recharging pauses in my shooting. But with a bottle in between speed is indeed not really an issue. I choose my to be compressor not for speed but for reliability and capacity to fill larger bottles. The air line splitter is a good idea as well as it would reduce the need to fire up the compressor for smaller charges.

So I guess I'll start with a 9l tank, and save up for a 2 or 3 l tank a bit later on. With an Edgun Eazy, that looks like a good practical solution

FWB  Muzzle brake/break?

I think it is a taper fit. Place the barrel in a padded vise. Warm it up with a heat gun real good then using a wooden dowl drive it off. Mine came of not easy buy easy enough. Getting them to move is the key. May have to use penetrating oil once or twice. I like Kroil.

They are a dream with apertures if you have the eyes for it. I shoot mine most the time with apertures.

Beeman  Beeman Marshall 2028 Cleaning and Polishing the bore

Hello everyone,

I just spent almost an hour cleaning and then polishing the bore of the barrel off of my new Beeman Marshall 2028 Pistol. Hard to believe how much material came out of that small bore but it made three bore mops completely black. Washed out the bore with some Burlite, followed that with several patches coated with Ballistol and finally just clean patches. The pellets should have almost no resistance and hopefully an improvement in accuracy.

Borescope Recommendations

Thanks, the vividia at $197 shipped (and lowest recent sale at $155) seems a value to me! Considering what many will pay to make their rifle shoot better and sometimes just for looks & such, value. If wanting to lap or even well polish a barrel and knowing the name of barrel manufacturer is NO guarantee it is needed.
Glad I came back and looked at this thread been wanting one for years and didn't think they existed .
Thank y'all

John
