Results  DIFTA Match Report Saturday, August 3, 2024

Nine shooters turned out for another steamy summer match at DIFTA with brutal humidity and temps climbing from the low to high 80s. With glasses fogging up and score sheets getting soggy the conditions sapped energy.

The course was 10 lanes, with one kneeling and one offhand lane, with three targets per lane shot twice. The Troyer value for the course was 29.96 with six targets > 40T, but only 4 targets with 0.375”or 0.5” kill zones and eleven targets set out at >= 40 yards.

The match high score was taken by Tinh Nguyen in Open Division, with Greg White the top scorer on Hunter Division. Tae Chung was the only shooter to clear any of the forced position lanes and achieved this on the kneeling lane.

FX Wildcat MK3 .30 Sniper with tube style air tank. Highly accurate with JSB 44.75s and Zan's BR100 56 grain pellets @ mid 800s FPS. This version is pre-dual regulated bottle type and might be found reasonable used. Predator Polymags are too long for magazine, as well. WMView attachment 485398
palm beach air guns has a used W/C MK3 sniper in .25 in pristine condition you might want to look at. 1200.

HW/Weihrauch  Hw95 .20 piston seal replacement

I have used ARH and Vortek. In my Beeman R9 .22 it worked very well, but you have to be patient with this seal, because it actually conforms to the cylinder, so shoot at least 500 pellets before you decide to try to "size it down", like you would with and ARH seal. I also have a Vortek seal in a Diana 34 classic. I shot around 400 rounds through it before I chrono graphed again, and I could literally see a couple of FPS increase every 10 shots as the seal was still settling in.

FX  New gun discharges air in my face on 7th shot

Puff of air, won't fill....
It sounds like it may be the small O-Ring on the screw that seals the drilled hole for factory access inside the block. You know, the small screw at the rear of the top of the grip.
Maybe?

Just Wow, Dana!!!! Awesome shooting with your Thomas ... again! Are the .22 LR shooters taking notice?
Last weekend I shot my Turbo at ARA CA State tournament. I still believe a custom rimfire in the right hands will beat my slug gun. Yet, Mike's latest slug gun would be right up there with the top custom rimfire

Airmaks fill probe dia?

Thanks for the tip Mike. It looks a lot different from my Caiman probe and Huma doesn't say it fits but the price is attractive relative to a probe from Air Maks.
Hi Jim
Yeah these are manufactured by Huma but I bought them through UA. According to them it fits the Kraits, Caimans and I don't remember if anything else. I had my doubts it would fit. I'll keep one for my Krait and I don't know if I'll keep the second one or send it back.

Texas Air Gun Show

The Powers That Be at Arlington Sportsmans Club suggest they might include a(nother) Texas Airgun Show the weekend of the 2024 AAFTA Field Target Grand Prix, but have not committed to doing so. Nor have they set a date, other than October or November.

I certainly hope the show happens. I need to rotate my airgun crops, and MUCH prefer to buy, sell and trade face-to-face.

25 yard headshot on bunny...Devastating Effects! Slug recovered

Hey @JaceSpace1369 , I know you've shot a bunch of different pcp's...ever shot the Reximex Throne Gen 2? Saw a few video review on it. Seems very accurate and I'm thinking about getting it in .22...just don't feel like spending 2K+ for something I'm just gonna be plinking with in the yard. If it's as good as the reviews I've seen it's definitely worth the price. https://www.airgundepot.com/reximex-throne-gen-2-pcp-air-rifle.html
Looks similar to the Zelos or SnowPeak m60. I think they're rated for 1000 fps in .25

RIFLE RACKS (free standing)

I have the Savior collapsible gun rack from Amazon. One side can be adjusted for very short rifles, which I like. Bigger than your stated desire (holds 9), but hey, room to expand...

I cant unscrew the cylinder from my FEB P44 at high pressures(NEW)

I've used the grease in tiny spots on the leading edge of the threads for the first couple of installations and much less often after that. It isn't needed every time. I have some bottle guns (BSA super ten) and the continuous changing of bottles is easier after a couple of applications to the outer threads.

I would not be surprised if the grease is something common, but one tube lasts forever. Use very little for the first few tank changes and rarely after that. I have Tau 8 that fills to 300bar and no problems with that higher pressure.

Thank you Steve! I hope to try some different weight pellets and see what happens. Not sure if I would try .17 slugs or go to a .22 barrel for higher power.

It is awesome to shoot so much without filling! As much as I enjoy reloading, no muzzle blast and no picking up brass is nice, too!

It was great to meet you last summer, hope to catch up again in the coming year!!!

Fx panthera compact vs edgun leshy 2

I have two Pantheras and a Leshiey with three barrels. Panthers are 22 and 25. Lesheiy 22 and 30 450mm barrels and 30 250mm barrel. 22 Panthera shoots sub MOA out to 100 yds with my Corbin swaged slugs so far havnt played beyond that yet. 25 Panthera is a used recent aqusition that had a couple issues. Ive solved those and it shoots well just dont have Corbin swage dies for it yet. they are on order. The Leshiey is awsome fun! but imo more of a pellet shooter somewhat limited by the magazine. The length of the ammo that fits the mag and still allows it to cycle. But 50 grain pellets out of the 30 cal 25mm barrel is awsome for gophers grackels etc out to 50 yds. that combo is my go to just having fun truck gun! In conclution. I wouldnt give up any of them!:ROFLMAO:
Love it! Your input is valuable and helpful!

FX  FX guns WITHOUT POI Shift Issues

Of the 6 FX's that have passed threw my hands these past 14 years or so, only two retained a solid POI w/o shift issues.
That was an original ROYAL 400 and a 500 with the 15mm LW barrels ( Pre smooth twist ) These original 5 FX's are long ago sold off.

My only FX in possession is a Dreamline Tactical and it now uses a custom fitted 16mm STEYR barrel off an LG110.
It is stellar accurate and does not shift in POI as the liner system barrel did.
** Tho will state a small amount of shift does happen with extreme temperature changes and feel this due to the LEGO nature of the guns design where the scope rail bolts to receiver block and also the folding stock block.
Such a design in no way can be as full spectrum solid as a billet one piece mono block receiver / rail configuration.

N/A  New to forum + Question about getting into air pistol 10m

Thanks, and again apologies if I came off as brusque before.

You are aware of your score as you progress through a 10M match. Older/smaller ranges have a mechanical system for the shooter to retrieve the targets after the specified number of shots per bull; these days it's done electronically at top-level matches. I think in the Olympic finals round, everyone's scores are all up on a big screen the audience can see, which must be unnerving!

IMHO the best way to measure groups is to set up and shoot with that expressly in mind. Nothing at a formal match does that for you. Dividing your score by the number of shots and correlating to target ring diameters of course gives an approximation for the session, but that seems at odds with what you seek.

I am an old hack of a target shooter, and calculating trajectories for such short distances would make me nuts! Offhand pistol work with iron sights just has so many other variables. I'll shoot groups off a rest to dial in a particular gun/pellet/distance combination, but after that I prefer to just set up, sight in, and move along...think less, shoot more if you will. 🙂
The details you have passed on to me have been a big help. I add these concepts to my theory and make it better. I didn't try to shoot close range before I was 61. I needed to shoot rodents from 2-20 yards with a 22 pistol. That was a skill I did not possess. I have been creative all my life, so I tackled the idea of developing a sight that would work using these parameters. I had to go outside of conventional thinking to accomplish this goal. I am satisfied with the results and the designs for my new sight. It has taken over 8 years to work through all the concepts of the theory, attaining 2 patents and learning 3D drawing and printing of prototypes. I teach kids <5-12 yrs old that close range shooting can be very accurate. On their first day, all these kids can shoot hanging 1/4" beads and 1/2" caps from 2-13 yards using zero hold method. That is why I was asking about trajectory data. Pellets at 550FPS drop out of that +/- zone. This sight is capable of hitting bug size targets at various yardage. This sounds like a tall tale, so I won't drag you down this rabbit hole any further. Once again, thanks for the help. Brad

This Compact Flashlight Puts out 12,000 LUMENS! or 220 hours on Low

Wild, I wonder if they have mounts for it. I could use it for trail riding at night or late night Crits.
It has some screw holes for mounting. If you look up X1 mount there should be something. Or if you get the screw size. There are 2 screw holes. The instructions probably tell the size.
