Youtube channel critique ideas

OK, so here is a updated (but not complete) version I am working on. I am reshooting the actual shooting portion because it was off and on misting and raining all day and I had to take down my over the shoulder camera which would have shown the perspective and distance. I also still need to shoot my closing and final thoughts and come up with a intro tag line that talks about what the channel is about. Let me know what you all think of the layout and overall style?

Love it when a plan works out

But not as much as when TWO plans work out! 😁

Upon being duly motivated to do a challenging hunt by the young man's YouTube video in my post in this Hunting section titled 'A real treat for Sheridan lovers!', then watching another of his videos in which he takes a large boar with his .25 GK-1 pistol, yesterday evening I sat the last hour of daylight in my chair blind, armed with my Sheridan pump-rifle and .22 GK-1 pistol.

After taking a large crow with the pistol, I sat tight in hopes my primary quarry might show up for the easy meal. Unfortunately nothing else showed before dark. So on the way out I captured this hunter success photo on my game-cam, before leaving the crow there in hopes of seeing what might be inclined to eat crow.

Wasn't until 3 AM that the primary target of my earlier quest showed up; TWO of them, no less. Of course I was already long gone 🤬-

Airforce  Airforce Texan o - rings

So I am trying to find out if anyone knows what size o - rings are in the standard Airforce Texan 457? Any information is greatly appreciated. What I'm trying to do is replace the Airforce standard o - rings with green helium rated o - rings so I can shoot dry air , nitrogen gas as well as helium when I want that extra power when deer hunting for flatter shooting slugs at longer distances and obviously more fpe. Yeah I know I could get the T - Rex in 457 and that's the plan but for now helium will do the job if I can figure the size the o - rings are in the standard Texan long air rifle 457. Thanks for any information given in advance. Much appreciated.

🥳 Are you celebrating your airgun ANNIVERSARY? 🥳

Started in about 1948 with a Daisy model 25 and shortly I went to pb guns and got back in airguns in the 80's and now have have over a100 guns. Think I just stick where I'm at and enjoy what I have and at 85 years old who knows how many I'll wear out! ha Charles

The Real Science of Airgun Suppressor Selection

Hi everyone,

We've adjusted the Rules and Terms to better facilitate the discussion of our beloved moderators.

5. The discussion of "How to" create a homemade airgun moderator is prohibited. The discussion of any "adapters" used to convert an airgun moderator to a firearm silencer will result in immediate termination of the account. The discussion of the materials, designs, and results of moderators intended for airgun use only will be allowed.

Thanks, and happy airgunning!
Thank you, Michael and AGN! Just so all you airheads know, DonnyFL supports and sponsors AGN and this forum is a vital part of the airgunner community. We had a great collaborative phone call on this topic with AGN and they are always receptive to discussions around innovation in our sport while ensuring a solid community guideline standard is in place and followed. We look forward to seeing more great discussion around materials, designs, and results of airguner moderators on this thead!

Shark Tank vs Omega Tank

I own an Omega tank with an HP3 valve and a Joe B. tank with a TJ3 valve. I highly recommend the Omega HP3 from AoA. The Joe B. TJ3 valve is very good, but the HP3 Omega valve is superior. Opening a TJ3 valve requires much greater effort. The Omega opens as smoothly as butter. I had to replace the TJ3's $39 option tank gauge with an accurate aftermarket gauge that only cost $5. The only point in favor of the Joe B. valve is its DIN300 female thread which provides solid a more solid fill hose connection compared to the male Foster fill valve on the Omega. Both brands have air restrictors. The TJ3 hose is well made but the Omega hose has a braided nylon cover that is much more flexible and durable. You can tie an HP3 hose in knots and it won't crack or leak. You can't with the rubberized plastic cover on a TJ3 hose.

Both tank sets are superior to anything else on the market. I own both and recommend the Omega tank/ HP3 valve as the better option. The Omega HP3 valve is an upgrade option on Omega tank sets. It is worth the extra cost compared to the base valve which uses a push button air bleed. I didn't like the overly stiff push button. The Omega HP3 has a velvety smooth threaded hose bleed valve that is similar to the TJ3. A Joe B. tank with TJ3 valve is a good product, but the Omega tank with HP3 valve is the best you can buy.

I realize the OP asked which tank is superior. The tanks themselves are both highest quality DOA approved tanks. It's the combination of tank/valve that gets my vote for the Omega setup.

Pellet Testing

Have you tried the AEA or JTS pellets?

Yes—both were tested in this platform, and I’ve had good results with each.
The JTS, in particular, has proven consistent enough that I run it exclusively in one of my .177 caliber pistols.

What stood out in this specific session, however, was the performance of the JSB.
Under the conditions of that day—25 yards, outdoor range, with all the environmental variables in play—it delivered results I did not anticipate.
The critical takeaway is that accuracy data is always context-dependent: this gun, this barrel, this lot number, this test protocol, at this distance, under these exact conditions.

I fully expect that repeating this test at 50 yards in a controlled indoor range—eliminating wind and other atmospheric factors—could produce an entirely different ranking. That’s why I consider this part of a larger testing matrix.
The goal is to gather enough comparative data to select the optimal pellet for the intended discipline - in this case, field target competition where precision and repeatability under match conditions are paramount.

Once a top-performing pellet is identified, I treat it as a control round for ongoing evaluation.
Any new pellet is tested against this benchmark, and periodically I will re-test older options to confirm the results remain valid.

At present, the platform’s inherent mechanical accuracy, and shot-to-shot consistency are high enough that any deviation in results is far more likely due to shooter input than the hardware itself.

Chit! First for me,my Marauder gently fell on my rug,

Or drill a new gage hole in thw Boyds. I think the synthetic stock even has the boss in it already.
Yes new ones are now, but only the stocks that were made for the past five years I think it is now? The synthetic stock was updated during the SAM project. Any GEN 2 stock older than that will definitely have a single hole and even some a year after will as well from depleting inventory.

Benjamin  Post antique discos and how yours is tuned.

The aoa hdd producer has retired. So again I'm late to the party but let's continue the Canadian dudes work and build an ssg. My 1/2 tail cap mod means modular fun and I can make an adjustable and easily removable ssg or just use my home brew power adjuster. The hammer bounce on disco 2 is atrocious with any spring and any power setting and it's destroyed 2 of the what I learned to be rare hdds. So let's pick up on the antiques where everybody left off 10 years ago.

Two Avenge-X rifles, five months, and a part-time job I’m paying for...

After doing a ton of research and watching numerous videos I was excited to get a .22 caliber Avenge-X to compare to the other PCPs in the cabinet.

Unfortunately a problem with the regulator made it unadjustable and the rifle could not be tuned down to shoot anything less than 25 grain pellets. I returned it for full refund.
Be carefull when attempting to extract information from videos on air guns or any guns for that matter. I am an FX fan boy and their videos paint a picture that is far more rosey than reality. Guns are great but the results they parade out are not to be had without some effort and know how.
All makers will make a glossy video to show us and any shortcomings are rarely if ever mentioned.

Interesting challenge...

That is a big risk, and regulators for this aren't cheap. I wouldn't want granny hand pumping either, auto stops on chinese compressors aren't to be trusted at the same time. This is a pickle, my co2 stuff always left me wanting more velocity for the trajectory.

The best thing I did thus far is set up a 2240 with a 16 inch barrel and a tko ldc and set a paintball tank up for 1k output instead of 850 on the gun. So the foster on the tank takes 45oo fills or she can come to you for fills or tank swaps. The gun is single shot which isn't conducive to older dexterity sometimes. Part of me wants to say she needs a semi auto 22lr.

Pic has an air switch and vent, 16 fpe 22 and you can switch paintball tanks, run co2 or air but air is slightly higher performing. This is loaner 1. Loaner 2 is similar but more conventional same power level and it's regulated.

The nice thing about loaner 1 with wood grips is the gun is tuned to play nice with 850 psi... So she could technically swap bottles at a sporting goods store or paintball supply store and stay in business. I shot co2 with it for years for the high shot count. It was meant to fold and go in a backpack to ride to hangout spots on our dirtbikes and have some cold snacks and shoot at junk or hunt occasionally. No it's not a big powerhouse but it can shoot hundreds of rounds on the pictured tank. If she has access to a sporting goods place that will fill paintball hpa it gets more powerful but requires more fills. The tube adapter cap got the check valve pulled out so that when the air supply is switched off it degassed the whole gun and the tank spun off easily. Also the valve had to be anchored. Yes there's noise and gas waste

I don't think beyond initial training and occasional zero confirmations that granny is going to go thru too many rounds?

The regulated shorter barrel conventional pcp conversion gets at least 50 shots on a fill but operates at much higher pressures.

My mind goes back to what I used to use before the mrod came out, cci cb longs. 20 grains at 7-800 fps but firearms regulations come into play. It's hilariously quiet for being a rimfire.

I hope you find a solution beyond bringing your friends over for a day of siege on rodents.

I definitely enjoyed the format. 3 targets in 4 minutes is reasonable but especially with an Open setup you have to get into a routine and keep it on schedule. No waiting out the wind for more than a few seconds.

Thanks to Mike for having the gumption to attempt this. And thanks to the powers above for fantastic weather during the setup days and match.

Other  Gentle Shot Cycle

The gun I hate to love, lol, which is a Skout EVO in 22 cal.

Easy to cock and changed over to the left side. No spring tension to overcome but not as refined feeling as the E Wolf's but better than most pcp's.

The E-trigger is VERY good and light and it's superior feeling to the E Wolfs to me and most other pcp's mechanical triggers. It's not super crisp but is predictable once you get used to it.

Shot cycle, yes again VERY smooth. Part of that I'm sure is the heavier weight of the gun. Its hard to describe but I like shooting it more than a lot of guns I've messed around with.

High cap mags to keep on keeping on enjoying the nice shot cycle. Had no hang ups of any sort so far.

There's actually more I like about this gun that I could mention.
On the other side of the coin is it's a moody !@#$ and not without various problems.
Sometimes it fixes its self, yeah that's a head scratcher for sure but working great right now.

Great fun, and very competitive! We had two shooters clean the course day one 40/40 (John Bagakis and Shane Royce), so David made it tougher for day two by making all four targets lane 1 standing with bipod and also swapping out targets on three of the longer shots on other lanes with smaller KZs. I must have slept well since I cleaned the course on day two (40/40). 😉
Top 5 were:
John Bagakis (1)
Shane Royce and Jayson Barnes (tie 2)
Mike Bricker (4)
Martin Martin (5).
