Skout Airguns Feature Friday - EVO Bottle ON-OFF

Well..i got really quick at it because of the frequency
Dump air...remove the clip at end of valve-push through the valve-remove oring-grease new one and set into the hole-pop the valve back in-replace clip..air it up
My oring usually clipped when i shut it down under higher pressures..but not always
it's just more reliable with a pin valve than an oring

Crosman  New 1701p first PCP

I was shooting today and testing some Air Arms Diablo Express 7.87 gr pellets.
And comparing them to the 8.44 JSB Diablo Match.
Last week the 8.44 had much better groups compared to the 7.3gr pellets. But the 7.87 gr Diablo Express would put pellet on top of pellet for three or four of the five shot groups. Then throw one really off high left. It was not consistent but I am sure it was not me.

So next week it is back on the chronograph. I am going to set the power to shoot 7.87 Diablo Express at a high of 400-425 fps. And see if it calms down the flyer. Since I only shoot at the same yardage it should be better.

FX  What is a Good 25.4gr Tune? (FX Impact M4 .22 700mm)

I’ve had good results at 960-970 FPS with the MRD’s. Reg at 110 and micro at something above 4, I don’t remember exactly. Some great groups at 50 yards (one hole & MOA) but would open up at 100, because of the wind I figured.
Well I use the exact same tune. But i also have the same results, one hole groups at 50 yards and less good results on the longer distances. Now i’m lowering speed a little to see of this gives improvements.

One to the back of the head

ive never actually got the magic turn-off spot on a coon yet .. but a .25, yeah ..if placement isnt perfect even on the skull its gonna run off on ya ..
I haven't either. My usual shot is from an elevated position shooting down at the front of their head aiming about 1" above the eyes on the center of the skull. They always seem to do the death dance for 1 to 1.5 minutes. I've tried the side profile shot just in front of the ears, failed 2 out of 2, because the coon moved it's head at the same time that I squeezed the trigger. The shots hit below the brain and the coons ran off. I won't do that shot anymore. With a centered frontal shot if it moves it's head up or down a little with a 34g .25 at 880 fps it will probably still will hit something vital.

It would be nice if a 150+ fpe hollowing point .357 could anchor a coon on the spot with a lung shot a high percentage of the time. It would eliminate the head bobbing problem. I'm sure a .223 or better like a 22/250 with hollow points would do the job, but much too noisy and unsafe for a urban environment.

Do you have the M357? Claims to up to 300 fpe. I wonder how well that would work for lung shots.

Finally nailed this coyote

That hurricane storm came through after I shot it. Literally 30 minutes after I shot it. Then it rained solid for the next 8 hours. I hunt that power line three ways. From a window, from beside my house or sitting on the other side of that fence. All three positions offer different shot and distance opportunities. That night with the rain and storms rolling in, I opted for the comfort of my home.

I know two people who get that coyote on camera regularly and they’ve both been notified that I drilled it. I know where my slug landed so I would be surprised if it’s still on its feet. But because I didn’t feel like spending a whole day in a corn field to recover a body, just for peace of mind I told them to let me know if they get it on camera again. They won’t.

Airgun Technologies  Strong leak Uragan 2

Your gun probably has the gen 1 valve, which has the sealing o-ring for the balance chamber on the valve piston. Just a matter of when it's going to leak. The redesign/gen 2 has the oring in a groove in the balance chamber itself and has no issues anymore.
They'll replace it for you without issues I have no doubt.

HW/Weihrauch  Refinishing beech stocks...

Honestly, it's not that complicated. The wood is hard and not receptive to stain. Manufactures just shoot beech with tinted catalyzed finish. You can build color on beech with stain, but can't finish with rubbed oil as it will float the stain. Must stain and shoot finish. Or shoot stained finish.

Which one do you use ?

I usually go one size lower than what PatchWorm lists on the kit. A two-inch circle cotton patch, pierced thru the middle, surrounding the plastic insert, makes for a snug, effective cleaning pass, with or without Ballistol. Use white (.22) for .25 and black (.243-.284) for .30. WM
As usual WM for the win. Thanks again

Vevor shoebox compressor parts

I've had it apart a few times in the last few months. It first failed just before the warranty expired due yo the gear output shaft breaking. After several messages they finally understood the problem and sent a new gear. This time is just won't build pressure. All of the wear surfaces look in pretty good shape. Replacing o rings didn't help. I might try again to see if they'll send a new pump assembly

N/A  HW100 unfixable leak ?

Bought this gun back in the winter after a short time it started to leak pretty bad so I sent it to Shane at AOA for complete reseal, well in March gun developed a leak in warranty period and Shane sent me a return label to have it fixed. Gun has been back 2 times since then supposedly fixed both times and it is now sitting in my closet leaking down again, Ive shot 2-3 magazines thru it in less then a week.
Ive about lost faith in this gun getting fixed by them and on top of that Ive paid for a 300.00 reseal.
I emailed Shane and told him it was leaking again and that I was starting to believe it cant be fixed, have not heard anything back for going on 2 days..
AOA has great customer service I just wish they could get my d@#m gun fixed. It was even kept over a week longer after it was fixed this time to verify no leaks, I dont get it. OK done venting.
I had a leak in my Beeman Chief2, and found trash in the fill port check valve. I cleaned it and it hasn't leaked since. At the same time I changed the fill hose filter, and pay more attention to all the fill port caps, and filter condition.

Other  Big Bore Lead Traps Targets Anyone?

I dump all mulch into a large toat tub, then just sift it by hand. Time wise, I'm relaxing, and chilling in the woods, not really thinking about it. It's a lot easier than working. But don't empty it often, range is my personal property so nothings going anywhere, 21.5 lbs out of this time.
Rubber mulch bits stink when melting lead back down. But I always wear a respirator and have a high velocity industrial floor fan, as exhaust fan, mounted in window when melting for ingot's. I wouldn't smell a skunk in my work shed.
I made a tin box and chimney with a fan in it (like an open hearth fireplace) that I put my melting pot into to mechanically vent it outside. No smells here either.
