Air Venturi  Venture into PCP. Tell how bad i am doing.

So the rifle and parafinala arrived today. The scope is now mounted. I will start with a Vortex Crossfire II in 6 to 18 as I already had it on the shelf. It is the smallest scope I have and lowest power. But it will be a good test platform without buying another until I figure this out. High rings so the 2 magazines can be used. It is the base model rifle btw.

Rovair compressor came as well. It was easy to set up and use. The rifle was sent at 1000 psi, which appears shipping pressure. It did not take long to fill the rifle and it did not seem to strain to get there. However, just to be cautious I stopped at 3000 psi to let it cool before proceedings. It didn't seem hot at anytime though. But what do I know! The packing box looks like a nice portable system for now as well.

I fired one AA 10.3 pellet through it into my indoor pellet trap. It did what was supposed to. So I packed it away for my next chance to get to the range. I hope that is the next day or so.

September TEXtreme EFT Match(es) Announcement/SCHEDULE CHANGE

weather permitting, the next TEXtreme Rifle EFT match is Saturday, September 14; the Pistol EFT match on Sunday, the 15th.

As I compose this update it appears we've broken the hotter'n hell weather pattern that so defines many TEXtreme events🥵, so keeping my fingers crossed🤞 for nice weather this-coming weekend for what's shaping up to be a well-attended FT shoot-fest. I've not heard any 'won't be able to make its'; only 'looking forward to its'.

That includes the reigning U.S. National and Texas State Extreme Field Target champion(y), the most consistently successful/dominant competitor in TEXtreme Airgun Sports history👾, the most enthusiastic FT couple in Texas👫(y)(y), and everyone else volunteering attendance feedback. Looking forward to seeing Y'all!

FX  PCP Airgun Tuning - Why would the FPS go down when increasing the Hammer Spring at a constant reg pressure.

No, we are not - when over driving the valve with the striker bottoming out on the valve body, as the hammer force goes up the hammer will rebound faster , closing the valve faster, and reducing the airflow thus slowing the projectile down. It is not at all surprising that this is happening.

I will say that there is a small coincidence going on here, in that the minimum hammer setting at the low regulator setting is either already at maximum speed, or is already overdriving the valve. We don't know what might happen if the hammer energy could be lowered further, as we really don't know what state things are in - it is possible (if not likely) that the pellet might speed up a bit and then slow down as the energy drops further.

I'm not about to get into the math on this - I've got better things to do - but we've explained what is happening here and why it is occurring . . .
As this is .25, Higher power (FAC) and Im looking to get heavies and slugs as fast as I can manage with the stock system, I set the HST Maximum to be as high as it would go at the “MAX” on the Dial.

As an aside - I do see that the back end of the shuttle is accessible from outwith the gun and it would be possible to measure the force that the hammer hits with which may be interesting to note.

Thanks for your help.

Airforce airguns .. Parts

First .. if you have a length of pull problem with the factory bottle or the 480cc .. airforce with sell you the 5 1/2 extension from the talon p.. only $24

Recently I got a TalonP valve that has out dated internals - they sell me the complete replacement parts. Be sure to talk to Rachel she is very knowledge and send her the pics of the parts need it .. second pic old valve parts .. 3 pic new parts.. for HP buid there is not better valve than the talon p, if you need all the power you could get from the valve purchase a one pice HP top hat from TT .. the only thing better is if you find a Doug valve .. but for every day slug shooter this one will get you pretty far.

Anyone ever use a HW50s for FT?

It is more like 10.5 ft lbs. I struggled the match I shot mine at. It seemed like a big difference on the long targets compared to my HW97 and big scope.
Mine sits right out 12 with a kit. Without the kit we're talking 30fps difference.... Of course it isn't going to compete with a 97K though. Theres a nearly 2lb difference between the two which is one of the readons why my first recommendation was a new stock.

The guy has a 50S already from the sounds of it. I doubt hes looking to drop $700 on a new gun hence the post. His 50S will get him through the door.

AEA  megalodon

Hello Everyone!!! I was so close to getting one then some folks scared me about the mags being cheap and not cycling correctly. I really want one though.
From what I understand, the magazines are indeed a little cheap and plasticy. But I highly doubt it has cycling issues. The Megalodon is not semi-auto, so the spring tension doesn't have to be a tight and precise. At most, the magazine may sit a little loose in the breach and can wobble or even fall out if you move the gun too voilently. But that is easily solved with some tape. I put tape on all my AEA mags to make them sit more snug.

1:24 vs 1:32 twist rate on 45 caliber

Because NSA slugs are conical, rather than semi-wadcutter, I would contact NSA to ask which twist they recommend. I double that recommendation, if the slugs you want to shoot have boat tails, as that requires faster twist rates than flat base bullets.

Based purely on your latest info I would choose the 1:24 twist barrel, if I had a choice. Or you could just try out different projectiles with whatever barrel your Texan came with as a starting point. Then make up your mind based on the performance.

RAW Rapid  HM1000x .177 100 yd BR match

Shot another 100 yard EBR style match yesterday in the whirlywinds of Sparta Wisconsin with 10 of my other shooting friends. I used my RAW HM1000x rifle in .177 caliber prepared by the man, Martin Rutterford of Airguns-USA. At last months match, the winds were fairly calm and variable, but I really wanted to see if this gun could compete with all the other Impacts, Crowns, Red Pandas, and BRKs mostly in 30 caliber. The weather was more typical: 78 degrees, 5-18 MPH gusty winds which seemed to change direction every 25 yards. I shot 3 relays and qualified for the finals. My scores were 175, 179, and 193, but the other folks were just the same. There were no 220 -230 scores like last month. The point of all this is that caliber doesn't seem to be so important because all of these rifles were capable of being competitive regardless of caliber. I had to leave a little early due to family obligations, but I think the winner used a Crown M2 in 22 caliber with a score of 190 in the final round using pellets, no less. I won't say who it was, but he always drags this gun out at the last minute and wins with it.
Excellent shooting great to see your showing what the 177 can do. I went out today and took my 22 lr to see how close they were in the wind. It was calm for a bit but the winds really picked up and were switching alot but the 177 out of the ghost kept up with the 22 with just a bit more push. Last 5 shot group at 100 with 177 was a 10-3, 9 and a 8. Pretty impressive when you have the right barrel!
