Huben  Huben Pistol GK1 questions?

Simply put, the Notos is a simple poppet and hammer spring/weight style of pcp pistol of standard/old technology with minimal parts. Whereas the GK1 is a newly engineered semi-auto pcp with a lot of moving parts. The standard GK1 is $1,250.00 through Kelly at krazcool.com

Arken Zulu rat hunting

My video is on that link; similar to yours.

Great shot by the way. I also have taken many rats here at the homestead. Probably 40 or so.. I have used both thermal to locate; and then arken zulu to clearly identify and shoot. Wouldn't want to kill the neighbors pets or chickens by mistake.

Weihrauch HW97 K needs a mount and scope!

I am getting Weihrauch HW97 K in 0.25"/6.35mm caliber. I need a hunting scope that is reasonable for this rifle along with its mount.

Longest expected shots of any frequency are going to be 50' or less. I don't see any shots over 30 yards (90') in my future and that really gets me into PCP or 22lr territory.

I want a good mount but, I want to keep costs reasonable. Same with optics and I am considering a Hawke 2x7-32 or 4-16x50 at the extremes but, I can be convinced otherwise.

TIA,
Sid
Bug buster when I was in the air world a while back it’s a well rated scope only cost 120 bucks but it’s a good airgun scope. I plan on buying one from my brand new 97. it focuses in close and far away to great starter scope it is springer rated.. I’ll buy a nice one when I get more into the game. Nice post lotta nice pictures to big rabbit hole. Pick one that you can see with your eyes when you look through it drive on that’s harder than it. sounds.

Theoben  Theoben Rapid MKII scope rail or .......?

Ok guys here is my question.....

I have finally gotten my barrel adapter on my original 22 barrel and I have been shooting the rifle more. This has got me to thinking about the scope set up. Currently I have an Element sitting on top in a pair of adjustable rings. These work great....BUT.... they also lift the scope up quite high. So I have been wanting to find either a picatinny rail to go from the 10mm. This would make things easier to mount the optic and will allow for a better cheek weld.

So I am looking for either a rail adapter, or an option for an adjustable cheek riser.

So what have you guys done?

FX  Time to decide, either FX Dynamic 22/500 or FX Crown 22/500

Wow, what a wealth of great information to use in decideing which to go with. In spite of the fact that there is limited knowledge of 100 yd shooting of the crown the other comments regarding accuracy are very impressive. I truly appreciate all the advice as it is do much more worthwhile than looking at paid testimonials on U tube. Thanks again.

Mythbusting Precision BR

I would like to interrupt the pissing match and get back to the original point.

In the original scenario... a top ranked shooter shows up to a local club of average joes. The shooter shows up with top of the line 'professional' BR setup and proceeds to post way better scores than the average joes could hope for.
Would that shooter still win without the "professional" setup...probably/definitely BUT that is not the point. It is an issue of impression, which usually affects emotions more than truth.

In this situation I think the shooter could have some awareness and dress down for the situation.

im·pres·sion
noun
  1. an idea, feeling, or opinion about something or someone, especially one formed without conscious thought or on the basis of little evidence:

Let them down gently? Maybe softly spanking them over a few matches before uncorking a big can of “whup ass”?🙈
No...
This is benchrest. It's brutal truth.
A harsh beatdown can be hard for some to take, particularly whomever the previous top shooters were… Some might take it in stride, others may say it was an equipment advantage… I agree with your post…🙏

FX  Maverick Barrel Retention Screws

I posted the FX Maverick assembly video to show a mistake being made -- to show what NOT to do -- don't tighten screw B down onto the barrel like Ernest did in the video. If screw B has an air tight seal and doesn't interfere with inserting or removing the barrel, then you are good to go -- don't mess with it after that.

Thermals and LRF

While I would appreciate a LRF on all my optics except maybe the red dots, as I'm mostly doing pesting, I could certainly imagine some people don't want them.

If you want a light-weight optic, you'll usually want to shed the LRF which can add quite a bit. So people that hike a considerable distance for their hunts, I could see why some may not want a LRF. Say, if you're using a tree-stand and you already know your shot distance. I also notice a lot of people like having a LRF off the scope, they seem to have come to like the process of LRF during the spotting stage and a dedicated lighter-weight scope on their rifle.

Like a few people in this thread, I use a thermal scope even in day time. There's a lot of pesting situations where it's a fantastic advantage -- like hunting in a shady area. There's so much in the microwave band that isn't available in human eyesight wavelengths.

One far more affordable thing I hope to see in more scopes would be a level-indicator in-scope.
Interesting POV I did not take into consideration.

I have been using my Thermal monocular and it's been amazing.

For pesting or hunting during the day, I wouldn't see myself using the thermal to hunt with, but rather to spot. Which is why I state Thermal scopes should come with an LRF rather mostly being something optional. You could have a thermal monocular along with a thermal scope when hunting at night, but that's also extra gear.

So in my mind, I'm going to be hiking and traveling, I would think I'd rather have it all in one instead of adding more thing to my pack.
