FX  FX Wildcat MK3 BT and stability of HN slugs out of the Superior Heavy liner

I recently installed the Slug Power Kit in my Mk3 because I was running up against the limits of velocity while shooting HN 27gr slugs. So far these are unquestionably the most consistent slug I have been able to shoot out of this gun (in .218), grouping even better than the hybrids. Without the power kit I was able to get them to about 930 out of the 600mm barrel while maintaining some semblance of harmonic tuning. With the power kit I am pushing them at 990 and the gun feels and sounds settled. Groups are better at 50, too.

SD is about 2.0 with an ES of 7fps, so I know that the gun is working well and velocity inconsistency is not an issue. Groups at 50 are consistently around .3-.6" if I do my part and there is no breeze. Not bad.

Problem is that groups open up far more than they "should" at 100. I see groups of 3" plus with not much consistency at 100. There is a very light variable breeze but it is low single digit speeds. It should not have the effect that I see. This is much more of a deviation between 50 and 100 than I see when shooting my 17HMR, for example, so I don't think it is only the shooter.

This is all with the STX Superior liner (1:24 twist). Based on some stability calculators online, it seems that the current setup is marginal at best in terms of calculated stability whereas if I shot with the 600mm Superior Heavy liner with the 1:16 twist, things improve (theoretically) dramatically. Anyone done an apples to apples comparison with these liners in the Wildcat/Maverick and HN slugs?

Krypton compressor issue

I am the owner of the compressor that Randy 68 is working on. I was hoping it would be something simple but I am seldom that lucky. Rather than have my friend start getting into the internals we decided to box it up and send it back to Air Venturi, Ted said he would be happy to take care of it. While boxing it up and shipping it was something I was hoping to avoid it still under warrant. When I get it back I will let you know what I find out for those of you who may run into this same problem.

2240 Flow Thru Probe with Grav Mag???

Hi tim
I used a hollow probe from g mac custom and didn't really see a difference to be fair.
I found a longer probe was better as the airflow still has to go through a right angle inside the hollow probe.
I'm familiar with your pistol which attaches to the crosman frame.
I would leave regulator as is.
Valve volume is small In cc volume so nothing can be done inside without damaging it.
If I remember correctly you can sweep the transfer port similar to the crosman valve for better air flow.
Where barrel meets transfer port needs to be airtight as a considerable amount of fps will be lost just from this part.
A lighter valve spring may also help and shape of the poppet then your not stressing the pistol to much with heavier hammer spring 👍

N/A  .177 8-9 grain lead pellet of choice

for the last few weeks i have been trying to duplicate my best 30 yard challenge target of 240 with a springer . It is like the target gods laugh and and say " See that last row of bulls ? Think your going to shoot all X's ? HAHAHAHAHA ( in a loud voice) .And even louder HAHAHAHAHA

Daystate  Daystate Huntsman Revere In .177 With Slugs?

@Dr. Kralenstein Thanks, that's good info to know. .218? Is that the normal bore size for Daystate's .22 LW barrels?
Dunno, never slugged it. It seems to prefer pellets in the 5.52mm head size, so that should mean it likes .217. I tried some NSA 17.5 and 20.2 in .217 and they shoot like crap.

I haven't ventured any further down that rabbit hole since it stacks hades/atomics, brarcudas, baracuda hunters, polymags, norma FT heavies, and HN terminators. Haven't even tried crosman in it yet.

Benjamin  Benjamin Cayden scope rail issues

Update: So I finally got around to calling Crosman’s Customer Service department and was put in touch with a guy named Randy. He said he reviewed the info and the photos and agreed it was quite clear it was an issue with the rail being cut incorrectly. They’re sending me an RMA and a shipping label in about half an hour (I literally just got off the phone with him), and they’ll likely just ship a replacement gun out to me. I’ll update again once I have the replacement in hand!
Did you get the rail issue/ new Cayden? solved?

FX  Fx King, I need help

While I don't have a King, and I don't know where on the wheel number 13 is, but I would think that the wheel number should be closer to 5 through 7 maybe?
You should start on a lower number and shoot until you reach the plateau for that number. If it's not where you want it, adjust the wheel up one number and try again. The hammer at number 13 is likely striking the valve too hard.
I have an M2 that I use the number 7 on and it's tuned right at 892 FPS after making macro adjustments with the 'small' adjuster. The regulator is set at 108bar. This for 25 caliber, 25.4 grain FX pellets.
I hope that this is useful.

PHA match results August 24, 2024

We had 9 shooters, the weather was in the low 80’s in the woods with no wind. We shot a 20 lane course with 40 targets for a total of 80 shots. We had a tie in hunter springer, but it wasn’t really a tie because Curtis shot all 40 targets in the standing position.

Other  PCP for kids and adults wanting to compete

This is pretty much the standard for Jr comps, ROTC, high schools, on up through adult

Very adjustable for LOP, stupid shot count per fill, not very picky on ammo, quiet, good support for service if needed, and cheap .. pretty much checks all the boxes
Thanks for the link. Have a neighbor wanting one for the youngins to learn on. Great public price, I will be pestering him tomorrow.

FX  FX Royale 500 & Streamline 25 Magazine find

Hello
You may have seen my WTB listing looking for magazines for the Crown Royale 500 and Streamline 25.
They are indeed few and far between
Utah Air is out of stock, and pricey too
I bought the last one in stock at TW Chambers (also pricey), as is Bagnall & Kirkwood
And then found the ones pictured below on eBay

After testing them in both guns this morning I think they are worth a try
They fit the receiver well, align properly with the probe and breech, and cycle smoothly.
They hold 10 shots, and are the same height as the pictured FX Mini Mag

Full disclosure:
I am not the seller and am not at all associated .
Nor have I been offered anything to post this

Hope someone finds this helpful
Edward

I have .stl files of .177 and .25 Royale mags. If some one is interested, for personal use, let me know and I'll put them up on thingiverse.

Umarex  Umarex Komplete prefilled N2 cartridge rifle?

Any follow up on this? lol. How's them $12.99 rifles shooting?
Seriously though, does anyone ever remember a brand-new-to-market airgun being bundled with other merch selling at roughly 4% of the retail value before?
If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is.
Watch them SKU numbers, folks.
