Bipod

Accu Tac had a great sale at Christmas time. $400 bipods were selling in the high $200's. I am not sure if we will see that deal again but if you are patient, it may pay off.

Me being frugal and non-competitive I just couldn't justify a $400 bipod when I only paid $1000 for the rifle. lol
I went with a $75 tripod; I am happy with it. I also use it for my Labradar, so you can use them for more than 1 task.

Ed glass clarity significance

We often get caught up in “good glass” talks, but even good glass can not agree with your eyes. I don’t put a lot of stock in ED or HD specifications, because they can mean a lot of different things. That being said, when you take something like a Sightron SV and compare it to the SVED, you can see the difference. You might could take a $800 scope that says HD and compare it to another $800 without HD and not see the difference.

I have tried the range of glass and I would not purchase some expensive ones again (diminishing returns Steve spoke of), but would easily purchase others. There is a reason that even scope snobs don’t always agree, as some prefer different things. I loved my Kahles 10-50, but sold it to another guy who didn’t like it at all. I would have said it was my favorite scope, and I have had more expensive scopes. Take for example, NightForce Comp, which historically known for being “bright” or more blue, so some people loved that. I personally preferred the dimmer look of the Kahles, because that is the optical formula that my eyes prefer.

I always tell people not to write off any scope until you have looked through it. Your eyes might like it more than others. We aren’t all looking for the same thing either, like resolution vs contrast, but I’ll leave that to the scientific guys to get into.

Point is, the good glass we speak of means different things even in the top tiers, not just across tiers.

Beeman  Beeman 1357 Underlever.

The parts arrived today. The scope rings did the trick and I can see through the scope center. I also got the carbon fiber tubing and made so many mistakes I can’t even count them.
The carbon fiber is available on eBay comes in gloss or Matt finished . They are sold in short sections and cost under ten bucks.
Ok this is all good . They come I 25mm and 20mm. I picked the 25 should have gotten the 20 but it seemed to small.
First I cut the small tube behind the scope. I did not cut that perfectly to length. Did not think it mattered. But that is what determines the stock mounting holes location. I got it to about a couple mm. Really close and I had to just ream the front bolt hole a tiny bit. Otherwise I would have to cut another piece. Not a problem but cutting a perfect 90 deg with my tools is why it was 2mm short.

The 25mm tubing fit perfectly. I only had to trim 8mm of the end and true it up with sand paper. Then I tried to mount the Buck rail tripod mount. The 25mm tubing only left 2mm between the top and bottom tube. And the tube does not fit. I think the 20mm tubing would be better and float inside the buck rail mount. But I did a good job and bored the mount out to make it all fit. If I have to do it all over again I’ll Order the thinner 20mm tubing. And a new tripod mount . But this looks like it will all work. And most importantly I can see through the scope with the new mounts.
O and the factory shroud has ting ribs to hold it centered. I might have to make something to hold it steady.

I bought the carbon fiber proof 22 mm and 20 on the inside and I think it’s a little too small now I might have to modify my silencer

Joe Brancoto Gauge

That might work but I put the new guts in the old cylinder and it’s sealed I am leaving it alone
I suppose it’s worth a try, but I’m thinking the O-ring might still extrude because there’s not enough flange area on the part pictured in your OP. But there might be one out there.

Something to consider when using modern shooting equipment that uses an app

In a letter to the CEOs of the card giants, the Republican officials said that adopting a new sales code for gun stores would harm the constitutional rights of gunowners and potentially violate consumer protection and antitrust laws.

Several state lawmakers proposed legislation that would prevent the companies from using the new code.

Under pressure, the companies backed down.

Diana  To wash & lube or not pellets for .177 a springer

For my best results with light pellets I simply take a handful from the new tin and put them in an empty tin with Superlube Silicone oil squirted on the foam. Then I simply swirl them around on the oiled foam and load them "wet." It cleans off flakes and gets great shot to shot consistency, and no barrel leading.

AirMaks Arms  Caiman X 5 month review

Jim I also bought a Caiman last year when UA was having the clearance sale. A 25cal standard Caiman w/wood stock.

Just like you I also had some teething issues with it. First problem I had was that I received my Caiman missing the 2 main cap scews and cups that hold the gun together! lol When I picked it up on opening, it tried to separate. I called UA and they rushed a set of screws and cups at no charge. Good service, but I wonder why UA was clearing them out....Could have been from issues with that batch, or just to make new for the mark 2 version.

I shot it a little on the charge that was in the tank just to function test after the parts came in. A week later I pulled it out to glass it up and it was on 0. I had a Hill mk5 pump coming from a member here so I was able to trouble shoot when it came. Apparently the O ring behind the gauge had blown out.

I think I remember seeing some dates inside the gun from 2018. With the pandemic shutdowns/delays I could see that....

Well, I bought another place about that time and for a year I was moving, working on a new production shop and trying to balance finances so I couldn't work with the rifle until a month ago. Been shooting it a bit, really bought it for hunting. No further issues.

I find the design, function and machine work/materials to be first class. Just like every other Czech made product I own. (Heavy stitchers, tractors, guns, etc).

I did look at the new Mark 2 Caimans and they are practically the same rifle. Just no pins in the top and safety moved to a slightly better place. The wood on mine looks great and to be honest I wouldn't be inclined to trade for the "upgraded" model. As far as a huma regulator that could be a good thing, but for a hunting gun in 25 cal I think it's practically a non issue.

To me it feels like a 22 SV carbine with a can.

Plus, the price on the new models, 1,300???

Jim D how do you know your regulator is set at 100 bar? Are you working it out based on velocity and weight of the pellet?

Daystate  Will Daystate survive the technological prowess we are seeing from Skout Airguns?

That is what we call, a hot take...

No, Daystate at present or in future shouldn't be threatened imo, by Skout.

I will never own a Skout with their current offerings, just not my cup of tea, quite a few Daystates I would absolutely own if I were a collector.

When mechanically driven pilot valves become popularized, then you'll see some interesting innovation (not saying this is peak innovation), if that time ever comes. They are not easy to manufacturer nor maintain, but the L2 uses one actuated by the trigger (that is how easy the valve is to actuate!)...so while the L2 is a front runner in that sense, they're trigger quality suffers because it is what actuates the valve...imo. If they made it hammer driven, many people would love Edgun L2's much more than now...just my 2c.

-Matt
The trigger in the L2 is my least favorite thing about them. On the 2 I have owned if I squeezed the trigger it would bleed off. If I popped the trigger they shot good, but it’s hard to be accurate popping the trigger. Yes in a rest it shot pretty good where you had less influence on the gun movement

Other  Webley True Pricing

Marflow made a great point about Ebay prices. If you search Ebay for Hurricanes sold, you find most are in good or fair condtion but, few are 95%- 99% collector grade air pistols. Last week, auction price was $350 for UK made, Beeman imported, boxed 98% Hurricane, pictured below. Price include everything except shipping. Blue Book 13th Ed. valuation states 30% increase for features 10% Santa Rosa-, 10% factory box-, 10% no F in little hut marking-. Maybe my Blue Book price break-down helps someone else determine their own Webley pricing.
The finer examples of any vintage airgun found lately demand substantial prices.

Benjamin  Marauder .25 power tune

Which should be a clue that many if not all of those things were counter productive or of no consequence to your goal of a power tune.

A stock M-Rod has a 20 inches barrel. You are down to 75% of stock right there as the M-Rod barrel is on the short side anyways.

What do you think is limiting you to stock output despite your heavy spring, hogged out ports and short barrel?

A stock M-Rod .25 will make 16+ shots on a Bell curve at 40 to 44 fpe.
Im gonna chrony it again tomorrow I maxed out the hammer and spring preload I'm gonna see what that does and go from there. And probably get a bigger trasnfer port soon.

Please welcome ST7 to our list of fine sponsors!!

i have a KYL , wonderful target , lasting quality !
Stan in KY .
I was looking for target that can stand up to the .30 cal, at 75y, but I have other guns and targets that are working now, so the idea is a seed at the moment. Sooner or later I'll make the move.

FX  DRS vs Panthera (Dynamic block)

Bagnall and Kirkwood can put a kit together.
